When I built mine I spent about $120 on my 430W PSU from Antec. Didn't want to cheap out. http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=20430 [quote:46a0e] [url=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820223006:46a0e]Rosewill 512MB Ram (PC2700)[/url:46a0e][/quote:46a0e] Again, never heard of them. maybe i'm just out of the loop. I think I spent $400 on 1 gig of kingston hyper x back in sept when I built my comp. Why not get another 512 since its so cheap? |
Should have gotten an X800XL. They are like $11 more and faster... and retail. 6800GT is only $16 more than the cheapest X800XL agp.
The PSU looks okay in the strength department. 26A on the 12v rail isn't great, but will probably be enough for your computer. Why Rosewill though? |
Quote:
I don't know why Rosewill, I just tried to get a strong PSU that had many connectors (one for the vid card), and that happened to be it. As for the x800XL, I was thinking about it, but ran out of money (I had 380$ to spend for computer parts). |
Have fun mate....nothing like getting new parts in the mail.

If Jesus ever comes back, he's going to close this place down. ps: Don't know much about Rosewill power supplies, but 500W is enough to run a small industrial town, so you should be fine and dandy. |

I know it's a x800. But I am hearing many good things about the x700, is it very good for it's price?

No, 6600GT is faster and cheaper/same price. At that price it's definitely worth it save up a little more and buy a X800XL or 6800GT. |
Shit i cant wait to start ording my parts...

lol geRV, what do you have to order? Another gig of ram and the 512mb x850 XT PE?
|
Not sure yet, considering a new motherboard, ram, cpu and an x900xt-pe (r520) when its out, i want the option of crossifre but ive to get a new cpu for that, if i stick with intel its a different socket lga775, mine is socket 478. So i might go amd this time around.

All hope is lost if you go to the evil AMD side! btw what will you do with your current x800 XT PE if you get an x900 ? |

ive been wanting to upgrade too, but if i want to upgrade to any new stuff, i have to get a new video card, cpu, and motherboard. snice my cpu is socket 940 and there are no other motherboards that support pci express with a socket 940 cry:

Upgradings getting to be a real pain in the arse. Intel, amd, ati\nvidia can all suck my balls. Intel and amd for changing their fucking sockets so much, and ati and nvidia for more or less trying to kill off agp before its even near past its prime with pci express. Only good thing about pce-e is the sli\crossfire setups, but these motherboards seem to be getting made in lga775 socket 939 exclusivly at the minute. cuss: So to upgrade, new board, new cpu, then the upgrade i wanted of a new geaphics card. Fuckers. cuss: cuss: |

$600 card that beats $1000 in 6800Us... sounds good to me. Edit: Not to mension the drivers... Remember that a X800 Pro beat the 6800U with the original drivers. |
Well the drivers are entirely down to nvidia and their release schedule, and their fequency of releasing certified drivers pretty much blows compared to the drivers they like to release as "leaked beta's". If they release cack drivers and its shown in the reviews that kind of press can cause a lot of damage to a product through word of mouth alone on various forums. No real excuse for it though, if the performance is not upto par they should hold back till they have drivers that can cut the mustard.
The numbers ive seen for the 7800 are around 7900-8000 in 3dmark 2005, which obviously isn't faster than sli'd ultras. Guess we'll see tomorrow what the story is though. |
i reckon gerv, akuma, and i work on creating a new processor manufacturer and it s bester than all... we shall call it: Ground Force Processors... oOo:

Well I am majoring in electrical engineering.... |
Well, putting in the ram and card was easy, the PSU was hard. It seems that my case is too small, by a fucking inch, so I had to bend and twist the metal in the back so I could actually fit in the new psu. Now the only trouble is, is if I close the case completely, the wires touch the CPU fan, so I will have to twist the frame into perfection.
|
That's pretty funny.
What kind of case do you have? |
Some cheap ass Sony VAIO case, I assumed it was ATX.
|
I have been thinking about learning more about electronics and stuff. I hear electricians get made MUCH, since it's a dangerous job, aye?

I will do that, or just put in a support for the current PSU so it doesnt have to lean on the CPU Heatsink (or heatsink protector).
Also, I bought PC2700 RAM, but they sent me PC3500 RAM, SCHWEET! Heh, all the games run so fucking well on the x800 Pro, I suggest if you are planning on upgrading, get this card (Sapphire Radeon x800 Pro - $289). |

http://www.hexus.net/content/reviews/re ... 9JRD0xMjk4 Single GTX is right around a 6800U SLI, sometimes beating it, sometimes not. It's right around 50% faster than a 6800U. 7800GTX SLI is pretty impressive though. The new AA modes are interesting... Glad to see nvidia implemented them and they are actually usable in every game with decent performance. I'm interested to see what the R520 can do if it ever comes out. |
Can a boy get some pics of the aa on railings?

I really think ati are a victim of their own success with the 9700, that came out and it was a massive turnaround in the market, before that there was no real mass demand for ati boards in the market, now there is and they're finding it harder to deliver, plus theyre making the graphics core for the xbox. Kind of the same situation nvidia was in with the nv30, they were doing the xbox gpu and things started slipping. Shoudl still be good to see how nvidia responds to the 32 pipe card. beer: |

Not railings but same basic idea, this also applies to stuff like vegetation in games like farcry, basically anything 2d i think. |
are fences good enough? same shit
