Gas Prices Thread.

Now that we are all getting to experience high gas prices I figure it is time for another gas price thread.

This crap is getting old. I use to could put 5$ bucks in my tanks and be good for a while. Now I am paying 2.23$ a gallon on average. What are gas prices in you area? Do you think they will ever go down again? GAs prices were as low as 0.75$ a gallon just 7 years ago. I know we will never see that again, I just hope below 2 dollars again.

Xorcist [USA] 07-16-2005 12:45 PM

$2.49/gal. in Saginaw, MI (mid-Michigan)

$2.29/gal. in Troy, MI (near Detroit)

ninty 07-16-2005 12:49 PM

It's not getting old.

You may as well prepare fore high gas prices for the rest of eternity.

Do some research on something called "Peak Oil", cause that's where were at.

There is still lots of oil left, but demand is outstripping production. And with China and India demanding more and more oil, its not going to get any better. Right now, the world is at peak oil production. This means the prices go up as demand increases.

The SUV driving suburb soccer mom way of life is over IMO. Unless the states wants to invade a few more countries and maybe gain access to the Caspain sea. That might give you guys a few more years of precious oil.

Nyck 07-16-2005 12:51 PM

2.30-2.40 ish

Tystnad 07-16-2005 12:52 PM

Hm, I guess we should be pretty happy here in Sweden then, its "only" $1,45 to $1,55 here. Then again, last year it was around $1,15.

Cheapest gas in Sweden atm; around $1,00

bukdez 07-16-2005 01:05 PM

its all a scam, mexico has enough oil for everyone, and they have free trade with the US, so why is oil being bought over seas?... think about it...

Jin-Roh 07-16-2005 02:00 PM

Lowest: $2.35
Highest: $2.65

The absolute highest it has been was about $2.79 a few months ago, I think.

07-16-2005 02:05 PM

Chicago: $2.45 for Unleaded

Mississauga (Near Toronto): When I visited, during the morning it was 85.9 cents per liter, during the day it was 90.9 cents per liter, and during the evening it was 80.9 cents per liter...

Tystnad 07-16-2005 02:23 PM

After a quick calculation here, I think (not 100% sure) the most common price here in Sweden is around $4,30 per gallon. In other words, Im the one whos supposed to be weeping, not you.

KTOG 07-16-2005 02:29 PM

4.30 SEK Sweden Kronor = 0.550435 USD United States Dollars

Tystnad 07-16-2005 02:35 PM

Ya, and the price (per litre) is round 11.50 SEK (was yesterday atleast), its litre to gallon im havin' a hard time with. Fuck, why cant you just use the metric system?

ninty 07-16-2005 02:38 PM

Dude, if your paying $1.45/liter, let me tell you, that's a lot.

I've never paid over $0.95 Canadian /liter.

But it's always been that way for europr. Theres not a lot of oil in Britain, or in Sweden or Finland or any of those countries. It's all imported. It costs more.

If you want cheap gas prices, move to venezuela where its like $0.15/liter.

Nah, we got Norway as neighbours, with all their offshore oilrigs. But their sneaky, I tells ya. Dont trust them, I tells ya.

ninty 07-16-2005 02:43 PM

Anyway, I know I will be paying over $1/liter very soon. I can rember a couple years ago paying around $0.55/liter during the summer.

Anyway, get ready for more wars, and eventually a global government. See you on the other side.

bukdez 07-16-2005 02:49 PM

this is why i dont own a car...

m00nraker 07-16-2005 02:55 PM

Just paid 2.44 yesterday

But theres a place nearby that wants 2.65 for Regular.

Sergeant_Scrotum 07-16-2005 03:12 PM

I filled up the other night at $1.04/L but thats for premium (damn turbo) but regular is around $.94L

KTOG 07-16-2005 04:02 PM

I'm all for the metric system, its the elderly and the highway commision that aren't. I hear that people don't do as much driving over in Europe, so that might be a factor in your gas price.

Coleman 07-16-2005 04:08 PM

$2.31/gal here in eastern PA

oOo:

Cant speak for everyone, but Im pretty goddamn sure the French does the most driving in the western world. In the area I live, you HAVE to drive, since its several miles between towns and stuff, and many people live outside the towns.

Pyro 07-16-2005 05:19 PM

Depends on the time of day

(per litre) 70 cents - 90 cents

usually mid 80s

It doesn't matter when there isn't any oil left. There will most likley be some oil somewhere on the planet for the next hundred years or more. What the problem is when you get all these countries asking for it, when there isn't enough to go around for everyone. China and India picked a real bad time to enter the "modern" age.

yeah, it's not about how much oil is left. A big problem is getting enough oil to get through refineries.

Tripper 07-16-2005 07:28 PM

I pay far too much for this shit. Almost enough to make you not want to drive.

Chronic Diarrhea 07-16-2005 08:27 PM

The ironic thing is all over the US there are oil reserves which were drilled dry back in the 30's-50's. Since then, what was once thought dry oil reserves have now filled back up with oil. The problem? There are so many restrictions on oil drilling now that most of them can't be drilled. Texas can provide 85% of the US oil needs for the next 12 years, but the restrictions limit that to about 4% for this year.

Machette 07-16-2005 10:19 PM

Was 95.8 here the other day.. oOo:

actually it isnt, its the arabs who control most of the oil and can do what ever they want with the price.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 07-16-2005 11:06 PM

There's an Exxon gas station around here run by two guys who 3 years ago purposely took down the sign that said their gas prices for those driving around to see what it was. At that time, their gas was already overpriced (they were selling it for like $2.10 while everyone else was around $1.80). We haven't gone there since, but I'd guess their gas (if they continued at that rate) would be around $3.00 now.

Duke_of_Ray 07-17-2005 12:06 PM

I think before oil becomes to hard to get, there will be alternative fuels that are easier to obtain. Propane cars don't get as good of milage, but the propane is cheaper, and you would have to change your oil less.

Madmartagen 07-17-2005 12:50 PM

gas is a commodity just like everything else so youre gonna pay for what they ask for anyways, why complain about it anymore? its abot 2.50 over here.
