eek: This started after I installed my replacement card eVGA sent me after I turned in my old card for an RMA. This isn't so bad becuase my last card would just crash with no warning and I'd have to reset my computer, now I get these artifacts and then it locks up so now I have a warning system oOo: , my card isn't overclocked and I have the beta forceware drivers from Nvidias site. On a side note...I can run Rome Total War on max settings, on 1152 x 864, with more than 18,000+ units on screen and it runs like a charm. rock: |
Might be a driver glitch, try swapping driver revision.

I just tried Half-Life 2 and I'm getting that same artifact...this card is brand new, it's not over-clocked, and it has the WHQL certified driver. How could it be overheating?

I already had coolbits installed, plus I don't see any temps. |
Mm weird, its there somewhere, is for my 6800gt at least.
|
get/google speedfan and then look at gpu temp. google nasty file remover and totally wipe your drivers. then reinstall. post results after you have done the above.

Plus my readings in SpeedFan are oOo: . Edit: I'm guessing the 253 is my GPU, it never changes either and my GPU is always very hot to the touch. |
that looks like the issue oOo: under load that gpu should be at worst 120-135 degrees (atleast thats what ive seen with my other boxes that have nvidia cards in....i cant remember if by default reading 3 is cpu or gpu...i think its gpu. do you have a second system you can test on?

Not sure how your cpu is hitting 80c, if i were you id take the heatsink off, clean the cpu and the heatdsink and reapply the thermal paste. Also make sure the fan is working on both the cpu and the gfx card.
