graphics question
is there anyway to get higher FPS even with high detail on?
I have a x800xl and I didnt buy it to play games at medium settings. I get like 20fps in BF2 with graphics maxed. and it chugs like a mofo when I forst start off or when there is a alot of shit going on in the game. x800xl 256mb 1 gig of pc3200 RAM p4 2.6ghz |
Turn off AA, Dynamic Shadows and Dynamic lighting. Or try lowering the sound quality to low.

i have the x800 pro and i play on full.
check tweak guides for the bf2 guide and do it ... see if that helps any. helped me quite a bit with css |

seems to run alot smoother now, looks ok, but shadows and lighting is what make the game look good, though I had to sacrifice them, and some textures :(
|
You should be able to play is with everything high except dynamic shadows and light - on medium. Also textures have to be set to medium unless you have over 1GB of RAM. High textures at a high resolution can use almost 1.5gb of RAM.
Turn off AA and AF in game, but enable them in the drivers. Some games get confused when you have both set and you'll get a massive performance hit. Drivers will always over rule in game settings anyway. BF2 is a horribly coded game, so you shouldn't expect max settings unless you have a 7800GTX. |
hmm ok i did what akuma said, seems to run pretty smooth, I think I now know what was really the issue, it was maps with 64 players on it. I was just in a 32 man map, and it was running fine

A video card is only one part of the equation. For a gaming rig to work well its based off of several components and how they are configured to work with one another. |
The game was made for nvidia kthx
ps: reformat oOo: |
ok I solved some issues with the gfx, seems to me that enabling aa in ur ati settings doesnt do shit, I turned them off and enabled aa2x in the ingame settings and it looks much better

well I read over on the xFire forums, that running xfire decreases your FPS in the game, gonna go play to see if this happens.

|
well just to give u an idea of what I go through
direct 3D and openGL are both set the same. and I get 15fps at the lowest. turning shadows and light and aa2x off doesnt make much of a difference either. would formatting do anything? |

You have to understand bf2 is a pretty demanding game, and your cpu for the most part is somewhat on the slow side. All those ragdoll effects when players die and get sent flying have some impact on the cpu as well. You should try maybe doing a complete reinstall of the drivers, Download driver cleaner and install it. http://www.drivercleaner.net/download.p ... tup_12.zip Uninstall the ati drivers using the "ati software uninstall utility" in add remove programs. Reboot in safe mode. Run driver cleaner, select ati and click clean. When its finished reboot into windows and reinstall the new ati drivers. |
woooow... stop quoting images you bitches.
|
Not to mention that the section of the map your standing on in that screen is a lag monster. For some reason standing in, or between those buildings lags me pretty well. Yet no where else on that map does. Add in the arty strike and i think your computer didnt stand much of a chance.

try turning anti aliasing off
