F.E.A.R. Demo tomorrow
[url:6af5e]http://www.whatisfear.com/us/[/url:6af5e]
single-player demo |
Shweet.
|
Hopefully they optimized the game... at all. MP beta played absolutely horrible and it doesn't even look THAT good.
But I'm definitely looking forward to this. Hopefully they'll reveal a little more of the storyline with the little girl to get people interested in it again, and not just the levels from the 10 minute video demo. |
lol they shit looks cool rock:
|
the demo is out now.
fileshack 3dgamers all the usual places |
Hopefully since this is a proper demo it runs better than the multi beta, that thing ran horribly with any of the settigns turned on that made it look good. annoy:
|
Lemme know how it is, Gervagina.. I won't download if it's SHIIIITE.

Just beat it, It runs fine on my two year old machine.
For 600mb the demo felt really short, and as far as the shooter part of the game goes it's alright, but I didn't get to use all the guns they gave you in the demo because you can only hold three at any time. It wasn't as scary as all the magazines made it out to be, and a few of the scenes that I could tell were supposed to be suspenseful only came off as really slow. The girl stops being scary after the second time you see her. Slow-Mo is kind of annoying though, I wanted it to go slow, but not as slow as they make it. |

Can't really tell how scary a game is gonna be based on what you said was a short demo. The demo's probably been diluted a lot, the developers are trying to keep players wondering wtf is going on till the full version comes out. |
I thought it was awesome.
It's like Doom 3 atmosphere and graphics with good gameplay and a so-far good storyline. |
FSAA doesn't seem to work in this demo, i have it set to 4x in the game options but everything appears ragged still.
Seems a little laggy in places, going around corners sometimes things freeze for a sec like the games loading in the area. Smg still has that weird feel to it like its firing in bursts when you take your finger off the trigger. The game also comes with a new frame rate raping feature called soft shadows. This is the regular shadow setting which is referred to as hard shadows, same thing as was done in doom 3. Now this is the new "soft shadow" effect, in other words the outside edge of the shadow is blurred a little to make it look more real. Looks decent on regular player shadows but in other objects it tends to make your vision a little weird Kinda hard to look at that last one, makes it seem like your vision is blurred. oOo: |
Doom 3 and Splinter Cell:CT have better soft shadows than that. Doom 3's have the least performance hit of them all.
That's just a really bad implementation. |
Far as im aware doom 3 doesn't do soft shadows at all just the hard shadow version. That forum that was doing that "doom can do it too" thing has something on soft shadows and its only possible to do it through some kind of hack to set up a screenshot.
This as as close to theyve come to it http://www.doom3world.org/phpbb2/viewto ... light=soft |
Ah, your right. I was thinking self-shadowing for Doom 3.
But SC:CT does have soft shadows and it does kill your frames. |

You hear that S.T.A.L.K.E.R has been delayed again to............2006?
heh, well they've killed that game off methinks, could've been fantastic if it was released now but next year its technology will have aged alot and it'll look 2D. Although I do love to be proved wrong when it comes to gameplay. It doesn't bode well for it tho, may be the next Daikatana........as for F.E.A.R, well if it runs well on my system and has a great storyline then hell yes. That little girl and the image effects look fantastic. I'm bein lazy but are the specs for this game mega high? MP? |

Stalker can suck a choad, everyone wanted that game for co-op multiplayer, then that got dumped, It was meant to be out last year around the hl2 release date ffs. stupid:
|
have any glow effects on, gervy? i've noticed my FSAA doesn't work with glow.
|
FEAR demo was disappointing for me.

Had the settings maxed for graphics, i enabled 4xfsaa in the ati control panel and it seemed to work, some objects still seemed ragged thoiugh, may have had something to do with the soft shadows making it appear that way. |
..any word on hidden sexual content? cool:

2. it seemed like any other run and gun game. I'm sure it will be better when its released, but the demo didn't impress. |

shortest demo ive played. it went quick, but linear action packed it was. i see what gerv means with the reaction time from when you pull the trigger and when the gun fires. its ms worth of lag but odd and long enough to notice it. i wonder if this is a bug with the way they incoporated the slo-mo code?
wonder what mp WILL be like. |
