Gentleman, start your fapping...
Intel is announcing their new chip on August 23rd.

Just Conroe... Nothing can save them. Hopefully they follow AMDs lead and ditch the POS netburst tech and make chip more like their Dothan mobile chips.
Here's a little info on the secret release: http://www.tomshardware.com/hardnews/20 ... 23337.html PS: Intel blows. |
Guide me, I've been clueless about proccessors since Intel released the MMX technology for the P2's
|
Fuck these 1000GHz cpu's. I want affordable high-performance video cards... mwah:

intel > amd

Whatever, I just got a new CPU (Intel P4 3.0 GHz) and it works well, it OCs well, and it gets the job done, I don't have the need or the means to buy a new CPU .

ill take an AM FX-55 then. Its alot cheaper than a P4EE and performs better. |
My question is...whats the point of all that power? Nothing can really harness is it and it wont be mainstream in software development for another 2 years when this kinda of higher end tech becomes more avalible to the average joe...
IMHO the EE and whatever AMD has thats $1,000+ are fucking usless wastes of money. With 1,000 I could get 2 gigs of ram, a 300gig harddrive, a 3.4ghz provessor, and a 7800. |

dual core gets me off

indeed

I think i realised im an AMD whore. Im such a AMD whore i bought one of their laptops (Compaq V200Z with the AMD 64 Turion processor) even though Intel processors get exceptionally better battery life.
AMD rock: |
I'm spending all of my food money on a 3800+ X2 and a 7800GT... oOo:
|
i just got a 6600 GT from ebay. big step up from an old MX460
|
my next mobo/chip will be AMD, i just have an agp 8x card so unless newegg takes returns within a year, i will have to get an nForce 3 mobo and a socket 754 AMD 64 CPU...Most likely this[/url:2710c]

Im sticking with my x800 for a while yet, 7800gtx imo isn't that much of a big bump over the x800, r520 will probably be more of the same, think i'll wait till next year. |
some people have said the 7800 GTX is just an over clocked 7800GT
not worth the extra cheese |
some people have said the 7800 GTX is just an over clocked 7800GT
not worth the extra cheese[/quote:bbd3f] The gtx was released first, so far its nvidia's "flagship" card but anyone that doesn't have their head up their ass knows rightly that they have a faster version waiting in the wings for the r-520 release. Ive also seen people complain that nvidia have forgotton what made the 6800gt good, that being same amount of rendering and vertex pipelines as the 6800 ultra, just a lower clockspeed. Whereas the 7800gt has a quad of pipes and 1 vertex shader disabled. The hype for this power of 3 bullshit was a total joke, some people expected something brand new, turns out all it was, was nvidia whoring the fact they had sli, hdr, and sm3.0....which oddly enough they had in the 6800 series as well. oOo: Obviously its a dig at ati being slow to release their new boards, just seems kinda dumb playing up shit thats been out near a year now. I'll just wait and see if anyone bothers their ass to bring out an agp board, r520 according to the ati roadmap will have an agp variation, just depends on when and how much. sleeping: |
AGP is dying breed, surprised ATI would even bother.
|
aint they phasing out AGP in favor of PCI-Express?
|
aint they phasing out AGP in favor of PCI-Express?[/quote:503a5]
Yessum edit: Just a guess but I predict AGP will be gone 100% on all Mobos, and in videocards before 2008. |
Pci express is good for sli and crossfire, thats about it so far. Obviously sooner or later graphics cards are gonna need the bandwidth of pci-e to work properly, but that times probably a couple of years off at least.
Just seems really retarded, last year the big launch lineup for ati and nvidia was all agp boards, now this year so far nvidia hasn't even the option of agp like its totally defunct. Ati last year released the x850 in pci-e form initially then agp a couple of months later. Probably be the same situation with the r520, if it does come out in agp form and nvidia don't have a 7800gt or gtx agp version theres gonna be a lot of r520 agp boards sold. Ive seen more than enough posts on multiple forums of people slightly pissed that to upgrade their graphics they would have to buy a new cpu and motherboard as well as a new graphics card, unless the next gen cards have an agp varient that is. Whatever company is first to release an agp version imo will get a ton of sales. The amount of people with agp compared to pci-e is laughable, probably 1000 agp users for every 1 pci-e user. Actually id say its a shitload more but you get the point. |
Haha, Ottelini sounds like an Italian noodle.
