cpu temp

i just noticed on my laptop that my cpu is running at 60°C when im just sitting here doing nothing. is this too high? could this be a reason why BF2 freezes all the time when i play it? css plays fine, and so does everything else.

Milla 08-16-2005 10:06 PM

Maybe a problem with BF2, the graphics drivers and what not, it also might not like a setting you have it on, i dunno.

Nyck 08-16-2005 10:06 PM

laptop temps will always be really fuckin high. I dunno what the normal temp is..

this is on my desktop

Stammer 08-16-2005 10:07 PM

Yeah I think laptops are always going to be hotter just becuase there isn't much room for a 120mm fan.

Himmler 08-16-2005 10:10 PM

But 60°? that seems REALLY high

Blase 08-16-2005 10:15 PM

My desktop is running at 59C, I thought that sounded really high also

Da_Bian 08-16-2005 10:21 PM

If it's AMD, then it's fine. They always run hot.
Start getting worried when it reaches 67C, usually they're set to turn off at 70C or 75C.
Mine.

considering 0 K is absolute zero, where all motion ceases, where scientists have not even reached, and 192 K is freezing, 13 K is damn cold...

Blase 08-16-2005 10:41 PM

13 Kelvin = -436 Farenheit = -260 Celsius

Jin-Roh 08-16-2005 10:41 PM

i did not take physichs or learn about kelvin in highschrool. oOo:

Sgt. Paine 08-16-2005 10:43 PM

my computer is 1 Kelvin since 0 Kelvin right now is virtually impossible.

ha technically I could have gone through HS without learning it, we used it in both chem and physics, both of which were not required classes, we use K most of the time in college chem tho, its used in most every forumla where temp is involved, not a fan.

I didnt learn Kelvin either....or i did and i just wasnt listening.

I took Biology, Geology, Astronomy, Marine Science, And Enviromental Science.

Coleman 08-16-2005 10:58 PM

We used it in Earth & Space Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology oOo:

KTOG 08-16-2005 10:59 PM

Liquid hydrogen can theoretically float in 0 K. WOOOO!

anti 08-16-2005 11:01 PM

i didnt learn about kelvin, but i took more visual/creative/psychological courses; its what i enjoy. + they were easier

KTOG 08-16-2005 11:02 PM

You must under stand the science of something pefore you can make assumptions.

Brain chemicals > actual emotion.

I was having an argument about this freshmen about that. Love is just a chemical. Hah! Then yeah, was telling her that thinking is not making decisions based on emotions or something like that.

KTOG 08-16-2005 11:12 PM

Well its not all chemical. We do have a choice, but those choices are based upon prescribed logic written in our memory. Which is eventually triggered or found threw electrical currents. The chemical part is when a hormone or such takes over all emotion which can be show through: anxiety, lust, or that warm feeling you get.

Jin-Roh 08-16-2005 11:21 PM

You learn this in Psychology, right? oOo:

KTOG 08-16-2005 11:25 PM

Yes, but only in college (HS psych was lame). Also, the internet has some good reads.

Jin-Roh 08-16-2005 11:35 PM

Yeah cool. I think I might have a place somewhere between the military and psychology. rock:

Himmler 08-16-2005 11:41 PM

i wish i would have taken more science oriented courses, but there was something lacking in our teacher. without a good teacher i was lost. i could have tried to learn it all on my won but i dont think it would have been the same as having a good teacher that helps you to really understand what youre learning. college is a new start though

laptops run hot. thats what they all do. what do you think makes the bottom so fucking hot when its on your lap?

Mr.Buttocks 08-17-2005 04:32 AM

My Barton XP2500+ is running at 39C, usually it's low to mid 30's. Room temperature plays a big part, my room's quite warm due to my penchant for sitting at the PC nude and erect.
