it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize there is a possibility you'll die if you join the military.

Bleuachdu 08-24-2005 02:41 PM

I live in downtown detroit, and there are fucking hippies camping out in the park across from my apartment in support of this woman. I was walking to my building after the nuge concert last night and one of these motherfuckers was playing a recorder. Talk about dignity...

Judas 08-24-2005 02:42 PM

losing a child in a car crash, abduction, disease, sure ... understanding that my sons job is to defend his country and that while doing so he might just get himself killed ... shes an adult. who really knows if the war is right or wrong ... who the fuk is she to judge all of the sudden just because someone she loves was killed .. fuk her. suck it up. as an adult she should understand the risk and take it like a man... or at least take it with a little bit of honor.... her son died defending our country for ffs. shes setting a bad example ...

i just dont get it ... SOLDIERS DIE DURING WAR.

Simo Häyhä 08-24-2005 02:43 PM

Im sure its absolutly devestating to lose a child. escpecially in a war thats none too popular
i see where shes coming from

[DAS REICH] Blitz 08-24-2005 02:44 PM

I see why shes mad, but i mean c'mon, where did it say that no one dies in war.

Bleuachdu 08-24-2005 02:48 PM

I can completely sympathize with the grief and sadness of losing a child. I don't have any kids (92% sure), so I can only imagine the pain shes feeling. The problem I have with it is that shes exploiting her own sons death for publicity. That seems very wrong to me and if anything greatly cheapens her sons death.

PS - Please don't make this thread about the moral or ethical value of the war.

Sgt>Stackem 08-24-2005 03:09 PM

and she has refered to them as "freedom fighters" that is close to treason to me

KTOG 08-24-2005 03:11 PM

OIL!

Tripper 08-24-2005 03:26 PM

Did her son sign up after the war had begun/or deliberately to go to Iraq? If so she has absolutely no reason to bitch about it.

If he didn't and was already in the army when the war started - That's a little bit different. Imagine if you were killed in a war you totally disagreed with.

Still, I think this woman sounds nuts and a little to preachy.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 08-24-2005 03:43 PM

When you join the army, i think it's common sense that theres a small chance that you will die should a war start.

mr.miyagi 08-24-2005 05:24 PM

I agree, go and signup for war means a whole lotta shit just got shifted on your shoulders, riskiest job in the world.

Loss is sometimes very hard to deal with: projection (psychologically speaking) works well to defend them in these cases.

When you say crap like this you truely demonstrate how little you know about the harsh consequence's of war.

... thats my point exactly ... she should understand the sacrifice shes made... im sure her son did ... i honestly wonder what he would think of this whole ordeal ... and where the shit is the father ?

and yes, i would tell her to shut the fuk up ... and ask her if she undestands what it means for a person to enlist. it means that they are willing to sacrifice their life for the good of our country... whether that means fighting a war some people dont agree with or sitting on their ass for 4 years getting paid by the people of the united states.

sorry you lost your kid, but cry about that shit in private ... making a mockery out of yourself and your dead kid isnt going to do a damn thing.

I know for a fact Judas doesnt care when people die, especailly if it's in BF2 and he sends his squad to defend a flag and they all (i think 5) get taken out by artillery.

we were still a leet squad, even though we only made best squad twice, I think outta 5 or 6 games

EDIT!: but I know what he's talkinga bout, we were in the heat of battle, and WE chose to go and fight, even though there was a HIGH possiblity of us dieing ( judas was our squad leader , go figure) and but then again, we would respawn and do it all over again.

I agree with Judas, these bitches are whining and complaining like their sons/husbands/daughters/etc were drafted into this "war". eek:

....I see it differently. This war should have never happened, the majority of the world would agree. (Probably not the majority of Americans) ...But you sign up to protect your country - Not invade other peoples.

Look at it this way, would you be pissed off at your government if it started a war unjustly (Even if u don't think the war was unjustified - Picture a situation where it would be to you) and then because your father/brother/mate was in the army, he was forced to go die in it? This lady is pissed off that her son had to die for no real reason - She obviously believes the war was totally unjust...

I'm not at all saying I agree with her, because I don't - I think she's going about it the wrong way - But I'm just offering an explanation for her motivation....
...She obviously disagrees with the war, but is she speaking for her son as well? If she is, then it's valid (Because she's saying stuff he never got a chance too) but still pointless. If not, then the bitch should stop ruining her son's name.

Merlin122 08-24-2005 09:42 PM

the whole idea of being a soldier though is not questioning your orders. If you have to unjustly invade another country, then so be it. Thats the risk you take joining the army.

Totally agree. Her son although not agreeing with the war, couldnt just say to his CO. "Nope sorry I aint going - dont agree with the war, you can go die for this unjust reason if u want but i aint" It just doesnt work like that. I think she could have tackled the situation alot better.

She has the means and power to make a difference. I think it would be a dishonor if she decided to do nothing and accept the fate she has been given. Some will see her struggle as heroic, others see it in another light. Also is she only to blame ? I mean Fox, CNN, ABC, NBC.. have all been sucking her tit like the did with Schiavo a few months back.

CoMaToSe 08-25-2005 01:43 AM

shes using her son to make a political point, and trying to make what he and thousands of other sons have died for meaningless.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean that the soldiers agree with what they're doing - That just means they won't open their mouths about it and they'll continue to do their job as a soldier - Whether or not that is a bad thing or a good thing is totally debateable....

....It also doesn't change the fact that to this woman, her son died for an unjust reason....

ffs, she's a mother who has lost her son, let her have her say.
isn't freedom of speech one of the things Americans fight for

two key points:-
1) Long live freedom of speech
2) Shut the fuck up
