Batio is not a poser... He is fast as hell... Probably the fastest guitar player ever. Malmsteen is just far more technical. |

So him being fast makes him not a poser? What a bout his dumb wig and ripped jeans. All he is , is fast no song writing ability at all. |
I hate when people take their look into consideration instead of their talent.

I said he was fast, thats all he is, is fast. He has good mechanics and no musicianship, as in writing a good song. an example would be, he can out shred jimmy Page but cant write a song 1/100 of what Page can do. and the dumb wig makes him a joke/poser. |

PRAISE ZAPPA
and anita stfu, a guitarists look has nothing to do with the music they make. that statement completely voids any musical opinion you may have from this point on. thanks. ps john mclaughlin owns your soul |
ROFl anyone see the reno 911 where one of the guys plays that kind of guitar happy:

Jason Becker > all. Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, and John Petrucci are honorable mentions. I cant STAND Malmsteen. All his songs sound the same and neoclassical only goes so far. His whole guitar neck is scallopped, fucking asshole. I have the new G3 DVD, and all he does is swing his guitar back and forth. He's fat now too. Hah, i keep editing this, Michael Angelo Batio is fast as all hell, but has no emotion whatsoever. Gotta put some love into it. |
I find that same prob with Vai and Pettruci, they have heaps of technical skill but i just cant find any emotion or feeling in their playing.. Pettruci isnt as bad for it, but he still does alot of pointless noodling.
Some other mentions: Steve Howe( YES guitarist, incredible ability, style, and speed.) Steve Hackett (Genesis' guitarist, not really a solo kind of guy but very talented) Robert Fripp (king crimson frontman, guitarist, composer, and mellotron, all around genuis) Neil Young( Not too technical but i love his style) David Gilmour (Again not virtuoso but great style) |

you are high thats is baito all the way. vai has shit loads of emotion he can make the guitar talk. satch too these guys can play way better than baito. |

if you under tood what you read, you would see that i never said him being a poser makes him a bad guitarist. just a dork. its so funny to watch him on his star lick tape. |
All that I can think of is "Fuck yourself! With a rubber hose!"
DAMN YOU VAAAIIIII U MADE ME GAIIIIII |
I havent heard much by baito, but from what ive heard from Vai doesnt impress me overly, lots of talent but lacking emotion IMO. Robert Fripp could blow both satch and vai out of the water. Maybe not in speed but Fripps compositional skills are unmatched. He can make a solo enjoyable no matter what the speed or technicality.. and thats what makes a great guitarist. atleast for me.
|
Michael Angelo is a fucking joke.
"LOOKA ME! OMG, I have a guitar with 4 necks!!" rolleyes: Malmsteen is an amazing guitarist but an even bigger asshole. Give me Adrian Smith or Joe Satriani any day of the week. I'd rather hear great playing with feel and distinction...not 6 million notes a minute. |
Michael Bloomfield.

So EVERY guitar solo to you is pointless? eek: I dont understand. Like zoner said.. "I'd rather hear great playing with feel and distinction...not 6 million notes a minute." It takes a real musician to craft a great solo with feel and emotion. And it takes a real musician to know where to go and what notes will fit. Not simply guitar masturbation.. Which is what Vai sounds like to me. But hey, different strokes for different folks. I'd much rather take a Zappa solo over satch or vai anyday.
|
I don't usually lump Vai into that "6 million note" group. Sure, he does some insane shit, but he does have his moments where his playing is toned back and more organic.
