Drivers License

I am getting it on Tuesday, I am confident that I will pass the test because I have been on the course, and it is extremely easy, just as long as I put extra effort into focusing on the particular things I must do. When I do pass, I will be getting a car from my dad. He want's to stay under $2,500. That's not going to happen because I will be getting something that will last for a while and is a nice, comfortable ride. I also want something that has good gas mileage. So far I have been thinking about possibly with Auto one of these:

VW Passat
Ford Focus ZX3
Mitsubishi Lancer (not evo)

.. but if someone could give me some ideas, that'd be real nice, something automatic, under 85K miles, and just overall a nice car. Oh, and something that can fit my 6'footness.. biggrin:

Swill 09-15-2005 12:38 AM

i dont think the do parking shit anymore, they didnt for me, so that was easy... watch out cause they might take you right on the highway...

Short Hand 09-15-2005 12:39 AM

If you are driving auto anything will do, it all feels the fucking same....

25000 ? or 2500 ? 2500 will buy you shit. I sold my 96 Cavalier z22 for 4k alone. rolleyes:

-VW past 99 to present is undependable.....(they took the top 5 this year) !
-99 to 2000 Focuses has so many problems Ford nearly scrapped the Amrican version....
-Base model Evo ? You might as well be driving a civic.....

You best bet is a 92 to 98 VW Golf TDI. 50 + mpg = drool.

Nope, it's really easy. Only lasts about 15 minutes. ed:

You didn't have to parallel park on your test? No wonder there are so many shitty drivers out there.

My thoughts as well. I had to parrallel on a busy street, in a standard car on a downward slope between a SUV and Impala....

Yeah, the standards have been really cut short, particularly in California, ... I think. For the past year, I have been seeing some really shitty, irresponsible drivers. I saw one today. I was at a stop sign on a wide road, this small car pulls up to the right of me, I was turning left but instead he pulls up and goes ahead and turns left. I could have smashed his tiny little car with my dad's Suburban. eek:

good cars for a first car
hondas and toyotas are really reliable. If you have any expierence which I know you dont, id recomend others with some more power however seeing how you want an auto, get a bitch car.

Johnj 09-17-2005 03:00 AM

Forget asking advice on what car to buy. Dont get in a big rush to buy anything. Take your time, put your ass in as many different cars as you can. Getting your first car is a very cool thing so dont rush it. Youll know when you find it.

Opinions on cars are like assholes, everybody has one. I had to buy my own car so i worked all summer bailing hay on a farm for 1.00 an hour. At the end of the summer i had 500.00. I bought a 54 ford coupe, straight 6 with 3 on the tree. Pretty much a piece of shit car but when i was 16 i was so damn proud of that car because i worked for the money then picked it out myself.

No matter how old you get youll never forget your first car. So again, take your time and look around before buying anything or youll buy the first thing you see then a week later youll see the car you wish you had bought. this is a milestone in your life.

As stupid as this sounds its true, You should tell your father you dont want him to buy you a car. You should get a part time job and save your money and buy your own car. Being a kid you probably dont understand the reasoning behind what you think is a stupid statement. This will create a 2 fold situation, 1 it will make your father proud to know his son is becoming a man and secondly when you buy something with own sweat it will mean so much more to you then just having it handed to you.

Ill probably get flamed for that statement but i bet the older guys here will understand what im saying.

either way, good luck with your new ride. rock:

Ford Pinto? oOo:

Its a mexican jumping bean. Install some bouncy things on there, drape a Mexican flag on, and bam, instant Mary.
