My New Car (Warning: Lotsa Pics)

My car the day I bought it:

2000 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.8L 3800 Series II V6

So I decided I wanted to spice it up a bit. I decided to do a red theme with the car to offset the white.

I started by doing red overlays over the impala emblems:

I also got a vinyl piece for over the third brake light and I took off the impala emblem on the left and the dealer sticker:

Next I bought some white face guages:

Then I wanted to do the callipers and hubs red as well to match the overlays. Rice, maybe, but it goes well with the car as you will see:

So here's the car so far:

Then I decided to black out the windows. 5% rear 5 windows, and 20% for the front two.

Then I decided to install a system in my car:

After installation:

Amp rack behing the rear seats:

2 10" Infinity 10.1 Subs:

I also have tail light covers waiting to be painted, and a new front Indy grill on its way. Both chevy symbols in the front and back will be painted red to go with the theme. Once that's done, i'm going to paint the black mouldings the white body colour and then my appearance mods will be complete. Then I will move on to performance mods. The car actually already has Intake and exhaust mods as you can see from the pics.

wow I love it! that was very tastefully done! Just curious, what did you do with the Tona?

I pretty much blew the engine on the daytona. cry: It had 232,000 KMS on it so it served me well. I put an ad in the bargain finder, but I didn't even get a single call for it. It was in there for three weeks. Probably because I listed the kms in the add, but oh well. I doubt anyone owuld ahve bought it once they found out that it needed major engine repairs. Just today I took it to Pick your part junk yard. They gave me $41 for it. cry: The Daytona will be reincarnated in a case of beer.

Old Reliable 09-25-2005 07:14 PM

calipers look nice, where did you get them? im thinking of getting brembos, and they're not rice, porsche uses red biggrin:

ninty 09-25-2005 07:21 PM

Callipers are stock. I just used duplicolors calliper paint kit that you can find at walmart or any other auto parts place. It's $20 and it comes with everything you need. Cleaner to get road grime off the callipers and lots of paint to paint it on. It is a brush on, but works pretty well. I applied about three coats to each calliper, but you have enough to do probably 10 coats if you wanted to.

m00nraker 09-25-2005 07:25 PM

Kinda ironic, im getting a 2000 Impala soon as well.

Mines black though, and its the police package version with all the goodies(spotlights, pushbar, police wheels, etc...) rock:

Sergeant_Scrotum 09-25-2005 07:29 PM

Everyones looking into family sedans now a days biggrin: . I was thinking about a 2000ish Intrepid with the 3.5 HO. 245hp 254tq and the same gas milage as my 2.2L turbo1 that puts out 154hp ed:

Cethin 09-25-2005 07:31 PM

anti 09-25-2005 08:33 PM

Madmartagen 09-25-2005 09:28 PM

nice job on the car, looks good. did you do all that in one day?

1080jibber 09-25-2005 09:30 PM

Nice car!

The 3.8L 3800 is a good engine, its GM's bread and butter. Im not a fan of white cars but i bet it grows on ya after awhile.

Well there are already kind of natural grooves in the callipers and hubs, and tha paint doesn't cover that up. You have to remember that this is from a $20 kit. If you want them to look perfect, you'll have to take them off and get them powder coated.

For my application, i'm very pleased with the way it turned out.

[quote:4b16c]did u win the lottery or something? [/quote:4b16c]

No, but I did get a good price on the car. It has about 170,000 kms on it already so its a bit high, but it just had the transmission replaced.

All the stero equipment i was able to find online for great prices and the other mods i did are all really cheap.

[quote:4b16c]how does it feel going from the daytona to that impala i bet it kicks ass.[/quote:4b16c]

I loved my daytona and I miss the 5-speed, but the impala is much better for city driving. i drive about 30kms every day to and from work. Need something more reliable and fun as well. The daytona served me well, but once the engine went, i knew it was time to move on.

[quote:4b16c]nice job on the car, looks good. did you do all that in one day?[/quote:4b16c]

LOL, no. Got the car about mid August. These are the things i've done over the past month or so. I didn't upload pics before because i had two disposable cameras, so once those were filled up i took them to get them scanned.

Yeah, it's nice to have some power under there. I like the white. If I had to choose I'd either go with white or black. I don't really like other colours for cars.

Machette 09-25-2005 09:45 PM

Rice biggrin:

Scalping Chief 09-25-2005 10:32 PM

Police use cars like that around here. Looks good too.

Yep, thats what I'm runnin with my regal, 200k strong.

Short Hand 09-26-2005 12:08 AM

There is a semi chance ill be swapping in a 3800 S/C (one from a centruy/regal or GTP. 240hp = happy times. Still undecided though... seeing as the LD9 (2.4Twein Cam), can put out more then enough power. ed:\

Car looks sweet, and it looks like a great job was done with the install as well :)

Himmler 09-26-2005 12:32 AM

i want to get some brembos for my new car when i get it in a few months. does anyone know if you can make modifications to a leased vehicle?

Depends on your lease agreement. Most likely, you'll have to turn in the vehicle with all OEM equipment. So just save whatever you change and put it back before you take it to the dealer.

thats cool then...just take them off and slap them on whatever is next hehe

Bleuachdu 09-26-2005 12:43 AM

For smaller modifications I think that is typically the case. However, I think they'd discourage bolting a supercharger to your brand new mercury sable and then turning it in 2 years later with burned out heads etc.

Arkan 09-26-2005 04:01 AM

Good luck with your new ride......just make sure no punks wanna kick it !

Zoner 09-26-2005 08:09 AM

Gratz Ninty!

People are gonna think you're a police ghost car from a distance...heh heh. rock:

Holy crap! my friend's dad has a 01 GTP and its crammed in that engine bay as is! I can't imagine trying to fit one in a cavi. ed:

strvs 09-26-2005 05:05 PM

nice ride nintyyy

Pyro 09-26-2005 05:09 PM

I wish I could be able to put all the shit I want on my car right when I buy it...it usually takes my friends like each paycheck to be able to afford one part of it with all the other expenses we have.

Nice car...if I ever buy a car it is going to be europeon though.
