Badass intro movie.

They definitely improved the character models from Doom 3. Everything is much sharper and smoother.

I was pretty excited when he started off outside with the robots and stuff.... Then they went inside... in the dark...

Doom 3.5...

Well i don't think it'll be doom 3 dark much, think id learned from doom that it pisses people off.

Akuma 10-11-2005 04:36 PM

I hope not. I'll have to try it before I drop any cash on it. D3 was just too much of a disappointment.

I liked doom 3 despite the fact it was dark. The one thing i hated about doom 3 and what ive noticed in quake 4 is enemies do that disintegrating act in both, but in this they at least wait till they hit the ground so you can get some proper ragdoll action going.

Looks like i ordered this monitor just in time. angel:

Akuma 10-11-2005 04:41 PM

I'm sure they have to do that for performance reasons.

If you stack 10 bodies up in doom 3 your fps drops to like 5...

lol yup, i done that with some kinda mod for a gravity gun and the fps were pretty low, though when playing doom 3 with the bodystay mod it never affected fps too much, mainly because the enemies were spread out more.

Himmler 10-11-2005 04:45 PM

that was awesome

Himmler 10-11-2005 04:46 PM

Very different from doom 3, vehicle combat (multiple vehicles), squad combat plus strogg combat. Its gonna look something like it obviously since its using the same engine, gonna "try before i buy" though.

Nope, its the followup to the story of quake 2. Quake 1 was the strogg attacking earth, quake 2 was earth fighting back against the strogg, it ended with the marine taking out their main planetary defence so the invasion could begin which is where quake 4 picks up. Quake 3 was just a multiplayer game and wasn't in the timeline of the story.

ninty 10-11-2005 07:31 PM

I know the quake story line, I just meant is it going to be basically the same thing as doom, just this time you have a couple guys following you around.

Id say nope, for one the enemies are going to be more intelligent since theyre not zombies and are made for war. You have outdoor areas in this game as well as a few vehicles to control including a Hovertank and a Mech walker unit. Then you have the squad combat, then you have combat with you being "assimilated" partially by the strogg. Plenty of variation from what ive seen.

Funny, but thats what i liked most about DOOM 3....the darkness. Made it realistic and scary. Never had a game do that before. I just picked up the expansion pack and am playing that now.
