Poll: Americans Want Bush Impeached
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/10/11/171040/56
[quote:76777]The poll was conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs, the highly-regarded non-partisan polling company. The poll interviewed 1,001 U.S. adults on October 8-9. The poll found that 50% agreed with the statement: "If President Bush did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq, Congress should consider holding him accountable by impeaching him." 44% disagreed, and 6% said they didn't know or declined to answer. The poll has a +/- 3.1% margin of error. Those who agreed with the statement were also more passionate: 39% strongly agreed, while 30% strongly disagreed. "The results of this poll are truly astonishing," said AfterDowningStreet.org co-founder Bob Fertik. "Bush's record-low approval ratings tell just half of the story, which is how much Americans oppose Bush's policies on Iraq and other issues. But this poll tells the other half of the story - that a solid plurality of Americans want Congress to consider removing Bush from the White House."[/quote:76777] |
While I agree with the findings of the poll, I think 1000 respondants is much too low a number for a true finding. 100,000 would have been better.
|
while a greater sample makes the poll more accurate, they are not always feasible. no one is willing to fund such a poll. And as you can see, "AfterDowningStreet.org, a grassroots coalition that supports a Congressional investigation of President Bush's decision to invade Iraq in 2003" funded it. Also forgot to mention that most polls are around 1,000 people surveyed. The poll is also has a +/- 3.1% margin of error. So anywhere from 47-53% think he should be impeached.
Recently, Gallup refused to run a poll asking this very question. Zogby did a few months ago, and he said he would again if he was paid a lot. I find it odd how one presidents personal life where really no one was hurt is grounds for impeachment and an illegal war, where thousands have died isn't even on the radar for any main stream news. If mainstream media were actually doing their job, would this not be relevant information? 50% would agree with impeachment if Bush lied about Iraq. Is this not news worthy? |
I dont give these polls any credit. Any "facts" can be made to back any arguement. Id like to know who they called, where did they get the numbers? Registered Demoncrats? Polls are too easy to skew for either side, dont put much stock in them
|
I really didn't give a shit if Clinton got his penis head sucked and lied about it. Woop-dee-doo right? I don't think the words in the poll are very accurate worthy.
In my psychology statistics class, we've discussed how the power of words can make or break a poll. A good poll would have neutral wording that wouldn't favor one side or the other. The term lie is pretty derogatory. It would be interesting if they did the poll in other words like, "If President Bush was misinformed about the pretenses for goinng to war with Iraq, Congress should consider holding him accountable by impeaching him." ...eh, it's a bad example, but I think everyone knows where i was going with that point. |
it shouldn't just be him being held accountable. it should be the whole adminisitration.

I dont believe a word that bush was mislead. Hes the president ffs. Hes the one who gave the mobilization orders, he stood in front of the cameras and gave speech after speech about the 'proof' he had and how obvious it was that saddam had WMDs. fuck him, he made his shit, he has to take responsibility for it. if you fuck up a situation to where it leads to war, then you deserve to go to jail. |
if so many people hate him, how did he get reelected? stupid:

just give the GPS location to President Bush[/quote:20949] taking an innocent canadian hostage...yeah I could see him doing that...probably torture him too and say he had nothing to do with it and try to look like the're on a moral highground over the peace keeping nation. |
I really doubt every one who said they want Bush to be impeached really know what to impeach means.

I dunno if the guy should be impeached.... The way I see it, is that bush was trying to do what was best for America. Can we really blame him for that? If anyone of us were up there, we would try to do what we think is best. Now the fact that I disagree with about everything he says/does, etc is another story. However, if you are going to impeach the president for lieing, then half of the presidents in US history shouldve been impeached. After all, being the president is all about telling the public what the want to hear, not necessarily what is the truth.
|
The Bush family has been about doing what is best for the Bush family, for several generations, not about what is best for America. Granpa Bush was a banker for the Nazis. I wouldn't trust a Bush to do anything except lie, cheat or steal.

Lets just say...Bush is not exactly FDR who basically solved the Depression while the republicans were just going by what they knew and hoover found out they're incapable of handling such a crisis with a conservative standpoint. Anyways...really you can't argue against Bush until you see someone else handle a similar situation, but it sure doens't seem to be working well. |
you do know pyro, that politics these days isn't even about liberals vs. conservatives? Its more of statism vs. freedom. Both liberals and conservatives are for more laws. we don't need more laws.

>>Bush is not exactly FDR who basically solved the Depression while the republicans were just going by what they knew and hoover found out they're incapable of handling such a crisis with a conservative standpoint.
Jesus. He "solved" the Depression. WWII "solved" the Depression PYRO - christ. As for what FDR did to capitalize on this - packing the courts with Pro-Democrat Judges, and creating a system of socialism that has now come back to bite the US squarely in the ass. Oh yes PYRO - he sure solved our problems. |
Better off than not even being allowed to voice opinions in public without the secret security on your ass?
