i didnt really check if there was a topic about this already, so if this is a repost, oh well.

So I just got back from seeing it. I personally loved it. I loved the games, and they made it look a lot like the game. In my opinion, it was extremely scary. Some parts I just wanted to pass out. It was great. I loved the first person thing towards the end.

Definitely worth the money.

Only like 20 minutes of action in the whole thing, all of which is boring. FPS scenes were the worst part, other than the completely butchered doom story.

The story was butchered.

How it should have been:

"The player takes the role of a nameless space marine, "one of Earth's toughest, hardened in combat and trained for action", who has been deported to Mars for assaulting a senior officer when ordered to kill unarmed civilians. He is forced to work for the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC), a military-industrial conglomerate that is performing secret experiments with teleportation between the moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos. Suddenly, something goes wrong and creatures from Hell come out of the teleportation gates. A defensive response from base security fails to halt the invasion, and the bases quickly get overrun by demons, all personnel getting killed or turned into zombies. At the same time, Deimos vanishes entirely. A UAC team from Mars is sent to Phobos to investigate the incident, but soon radio contact ceases and only one human is left alive — the player, whose task is to make it out alive."

I personally like the doom3 story line with the teleportation stuff. Im sorry to see that the movie took that out.

My friend looked at it like this, "If you've never played the game, then you'd probally enjoy this movie."

I saw it last nite and it just opened my Pandora's box of why I hate Hollywood because they can fuck up a script that's gold! The whole time I was watching the movie I was thinking "Where's the chest burster and Ripley?". It was such a rip off of Aliens at times. You can almost relate all of the 'Marine' squad with all of Colonial Marines in Aliens.

The plotline of Doom is, " A group of hardened Marines are sent to Mars to see what happend to a company's research faciality only to run into weird things that move fast and eat humans!". Meanwhile Aliens outline was "A group of Colonial Marines are sent back to a planet where a company has colonialized near Alien catacombs! All hell breaks loose and they have to survive and get out of there!". stupid:


Please, will someone, anyone, explain to me how you can fuck up a movie like Doom? Do they literally sit in and office and go "Okay, we have a script about the portal of hell being discoverd on Mars. Then, demons come through the portal and there's immense battles with bad ass fucker guns and people have to try to kill the demons then they have to go to hell and fight the devil." guy 2 "How about instead of hell we have some stupid shit about human chromosones and some sorta good/evil choosing zombie shit. Yeah we'll put in like some guy with half legs from Band of Brothers. YEAH YEAH! Then we can have th rock with his extra pearl white teeth and that broad from James Bond! Oh and then in the end there'll be this huge good vs evil fight with superhuman people and viruses and OMGOMGOMG! We'll call it 'Resident Aliens Doom'!

saw it last night, but i only went cause she paid for my ticket. movie sucked, ever since jurassic park came out all these movies have to have some DNA shit in it. same retarded scenes you see in every bullshit movie. retarded marine (ironic?) who mouths off to sarge and dies cause he goes by himself to take a shit. brainy, self righteous 'independent' female doctor who somehow holds the key to explain what happened and comes up with a storyline a 16 year old science 3 student could have made up. an extra chromosome doesnt make you super human, it makes you super retarded wth down syndrome.
