A great day at the shooting range

Two days ago (in other words, Wed. 9th), me and my squad were told to make our way down to the shooting range, where officers would be awaiting us with new orders. Well, we hopped in our cars and drove up there, only to find a Lt. who told us to follow his car further away from the town. After about 10 mins of driving throught the woods, we arrived at an old shooting range, where the bombtechs were busy blowing up unexploded amunitions and the likes, so we were told to sit down and wait. While we waited, the techs continued to blow another 5 or 6 piles of ammo, so we got to see some really nice fireworks. When they were done, the Lt. Told us to follow him down to the range, were two plastic sheets were spred up on the ground, and on these sheets there were guns. Guns and ammo for a few hours of complete happiness. These were the guns; Carl Gustaf M/45B, AK-47, MP-5, two muskets from the 19th century, MP40, Thompson M1928, M1 Carbine, H&K G36, M16A1 (a genuine 'nam one!), MG42 and a Colt-Browning watercooled HMG + an AA-version of it (Two HMG's mounted on a 1m high tripod). First, the instructor showed us the guns up close, then he fired the Tommygun, the MP40, the muskets, the MG42 and the AA-HMG's. The rest of the guns, we got to use.

Man, Ive never felt such joy, that was the absolutely best day of my life. I talked to the instructor after the shooting, and he told me basically anyone can get an M1 Carbine here in Sweden, whereas an M16 or and AK47 is strictly prohibited, and really hard to get a license for (nearly impossible, tbh).

Well, back to the shooting. My absolute favorite gun was the M1 Carbine (hence the talk about it), but all of them were extremely fun to shoot. The M1, CG45, M16 and MP5 had absolutely zero recoil. The G36 was awesome with its dual sights (both red-dot and optic), and it was impossible to miss the targets with it.

I guess thats it for now. Ill get some pics uploaded asap.

Discuss.

The M1 is my weapon of choice any day man. Its soooooo lightweight, accurate, powerfull compared to its size and age and, best of all, it has no recoil at all!

CoMaToSe 11-11-2005 12:17 PM

m1 garand>m1 carbine, deals more damage. Like once on avalanche, I must have shot this german dude point blank 4 times with the carbine before he died, and itt would have taken 1 hit with the garand

Jimmy Paterson 11-11-2005 12:19 PM

pwned by video game damage

lol. The Carbine weighs like half as much as the Garand + the Carbine can be reloaded at any time, Garand cant + Carbine comes with 10r and 15r clips, Garand with 8r = 3-0 to Carbine.

CoMaToSe 11-11-2005 12:26 PM

Garand packs a punch unmatched by the carbine. You can dispatch 8 enemies in a clip compared to the carbine's feeble 5. Nothing beats church camping with MG42, tho oOo:

In real life if you shoot someone, doesnt matter how big the round is, the person is gonna drop/flinch/die

Giving at least a few seconds so you can finish him off or whatever.

CoMaToSe 11-11-2005 12:30 PM

Who gives a fuck about RL, theres no respawns there.

if by this comment you mean the power, not everything about a weapons greatness is its power. Its about its effectiveness in combat. If the carbine is lighter, and having more rounds per clip.

I'd take the carbine over the gerand.

Jimmy Paterson 11-11-2005 01:08 PM

ide take garand anyday, has a greater distance, plus it shoots out rifle bullets unlike the carbine which does not.

CoMaToSe 11-11-2005 01:10 PM

the carbine shoots less effective ammo in DoD than the garand. End of story

Zoner 11-11-2005 01:10 PM

Going by the pics you've posted here, Jimmy, a Garand would knock you flat on your ass. That's not a slight against you, that's just fact.

The Garand kicks like a mule.

Akuma 11-11-2005 01:11 PM

Garand is too heavy imo. After 20 shots standing your arm that is supporting the gun starts drooping and you'll miss a lot.

...and we all know video games represent real life.

Let me shoot you with a Carbine and you tell me if it hurts less.

It really doesn't kick that bad. A nice little bump but the gun it so heavy that it doesn't do much.

CoMaToSe 11-11-2005 01:13 PM

The point is that I was talking about the weapons in DoD, I didnt say it wouldnt hurt to get hit with a carbine. I would just rather be shot with it than a garand

Jimmy Paterson 11-11-2005 01:14 PM

...garand shoots 30 cal? well i shoot k98s fine and that 8mm....

Maybe I've underestimated your intestinal fortitude, young Jimmy. You're the kind of stock that America needs in these dark, turbulent days.

Go get yourself a rifle and fight, young man! Fight for all you hold dear!

Buy WAR BONDS!

Tystnad 11-11-2005 01:30 PM

M1 Carbine = .30 (7.62x33mm) 10, 15 or 30 rounds. Muzzle velocity of 1860 fps (~ 570 m/s), effective range of about 200 m.

M1 Garand = .30-06 (7.62x63 mm) non-detachable, clip-fed only magazine, 8 rounds. 2840 fps (~ 865 m/s), effective range of about 550 m.

Jimmy Paterson 11-11-2005 01:30 PM
