Calling all geeks
Ok, Arkan is at a crossroad and needs a lil' advice. Been wanting to get an iPod for sometime but now i'm thinking of that PSP instead. What i want to know is, pros and cons of each. Basically, what i'm looking for is something i can store music on and listen to while traveling. I know thats the main purpose of the iPod but i'm thinking gaming/watching movies/storing pics/wireless internet connection = more bang for the buck.
How much memory can you use to store music ? |
I think for the psp you can buy memory sticks and can use it for whatever you want. Don't think theres any kind of limitation that only lets you use says 512mb for music with the other 512mb being used for game saves or profiles\vids etc.
|
yep, gerv said it. You can get different size cards for the PSP. My brother has the 1gig stick and it's pretty damn nice. He has Batman Begins on it right now and that takes up about 600megs which leaves alot of space for other things.
I'd rather get a PSP over an Ipod actually. I'm not sure what the conditions are when you're listening to music (ie jogging, car, bus, sitting at the office, etc). If you will use it for those situations, the psp probably won't be your best choice of media players. |
Yeah with the PSP you can get a few memory stuck duos, have one for game saves and one for movies/media etc..
although they now have the video iPod... |
ive dled a couple of pron flicks formatted for that thing ... so, i guess if you need portable pron vs portable music then psp.

if you want something for music get an Ipod. huge built in storage and its MADE to play music.
The psp has no docking stations to hook up to stereos and shit that I know of. |
Aye, I've got both an Ipod and PSP. I don't have a big enough memory stick for the PSP so it's kinda worthless at the moment. If you get one, before you do anything you'll have to dish out a bit of cash for extra memory (when you just spent a shitload on the PSP itself). Wireless internet is kind of a joke, it's novelty wears off quick. Putting on emulators and playing old school Mario where ever you go is a +. Battery life isn't that great... and that's about it. I haven't tried movies yet since they won't fit on my 32mb included card. If I had to buy it I wouldn't have. Ipod is just too good for music, and that's all ya need imo.

id get the ipod. the psp is nice but too much of a hassle. plus it will end up costing alot more than an ipod. (games, movies, memory cards)
|
Thnx guys, i'm now leaning towards the iPod. I already have a comp, note book, portable DVD player, and game consoles. I guess all the extra shit with the PSP isn't necessary for what i really want it for.
Ok, next question. Where did you guys get your iPods? I'd like a 20 - 30 Gig one. |
30 Gig Video ipod. black. make sure u get the warrenty.
|
yep the new iPods come in 30 and 60 gig and they play videos by default.
|
All my music I have on my computer = 2 gigs
|
Warrentee eh? These fuckers are prone to breakage ?
|
all my music on my PC = 11.45gigs

Most of the people I know who have iPods have had trouble with it losing it's ability to keep a charge. My brother's for instance, needs constant recharging to hold any charge. I would look for some alternative options to the iPod, unless you are aiming for the video one, because there aren't many good alternatives for the vid ipod.

Unless you use public transportation alot and just sit there while you travel, I don't see a huge use in the video feature. It's a stupid gimmick if you ask me. Arkan even said he had a protable DVD player. There ya go, there's the video. |

And Akuma, I bought a Dell DJ at the same time my brother bought his iPod and his has terrible battery life compared to mine. |
We'll I've had my iPod for 3 years and it still keeps a good 10 hours of battery life compared to 12 when I first bought it.

i just don't see why you would want to buy a product that would always tend to break...even if you do get a new ipod. It would be such a hassel to send it in al the time for a replacement product.

iPods don't break anymore than any other MP3 player.
You know why there are more cases of it breaking? Because 1000x as many people have iPods as all other MP3 players combined. |
here we go again with the zen vs. ipod. no one ever really produces any strong arguments, its just fan boy flaming.
