I enjoyed the series Band of Brothers and movie Saving private Ryan (or was it saving Ryan's privates?) and i wanted to play those battles myself. First, i was totally into operation Flashpoint, but it didn't really feel like WWII. So i bought MOHAA. Plus, i love to kill those nazi pigs.

Kakorott 02-16-2002 01:02 AM

could it be that op flash i based of the cold war not WWII

I enjoy how the enemies attempt to get back up after they have been shot, only to be shot again!

Realistic? Where do you get your extensive knowledge of WWII from? Comic Books? Hollywood? No offense, man, but you're mistaking difficulty for realism. About 70% of this game plays out like a great WWII movie but the other 30% is nothing more than "Serious Sam does WWII". Pure stupidity. Do you think any one US Army Ranger had to dispatch endless waves of respawning german soldiers in a span of 5 minutes like you have to do so many times in this game? Answer: NO!

What's great about MOHAA:

1. Omaha Beach. The greatest FPS level ever, bar none. A monumental achievement. Too bad the rest of the game is not of the same quality. Still there are some memorable levels, like "Snipers Last Stand".

2. Attention to detail. Lots of nice details, like the dogfight overhead between a P-47 and a Fw-190, which culminates in the P-47 crashing into the side of a building you just exited.

Kakorott 02-16-2002 03:15 AM

hmm i havent played the whole sp yet i am just now at omaha i just like the chatter between the soldiers its funny what they say and so far my fav scene was escaping the harbor after u blow the uboat up http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif but i agree with above dude no realistic crap happening that would make the game realistic just fluff

LT.JimmyPatterson 02-16-2002 08:16 AM

id say the weapons, running around in a shelled out town trying to keep your tank crew alive and the fact its a WW2 based game
and the omaha beach level

I love WW][ everything. I've taken classes about it, read books, watched and own many documentaries. Now, I get a chance to play a roll in it.(I did play RTCW but don't really consider it the same because of the vombies.)
Its just great fun!

The game play is the sweetest part, and that fact that the game is really popular which means expansion packs and mods will be flying thru the roof in no time.

I love the overall gameplay. It's challenging and fun. I'm a huge WWII history buff; probably more than a lot of people on this board and I could pick the game apart on accuracy and realism.

However, if it were realistic, it would get pretty boring. Imagine: Mission one: hold the line of defence agaisnt any German counter attack. Not sure when they are coming so hang tight. Spend the whole time getting to know you foxhole mate. Smoke a hundred cigarettes, take a piss, and try to get some sleep. Wake up to a flare and some small arms fire, but nothing in your area of the line, go back to sleep. Your objective is not to freeze you ass off in the foxhole. Get the point? lol

Heh , that gave me a laugh. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif
D-Day landing was good apart from it was way too short "not enough bunkertrench busting..

Unit skins were nice but not enough of them , ie kept getting twins or tripplets stood next to each other..
Weapon models were nice , sound was quite good too....
Ending was TERRIBLE.....major fault in my eyes.

The Putz 02-20-2002 04:39 AM

MOHAA is good for many reasons, 1-the gameplay is great, 2- the sound is amazing, 3-yeah the exploosions do kick ass dont they http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif, 4-very mod friendly, 5- Great MP(with the aid of reaslim mods)
I could go on and on about how good this game is and im glad i didnt pirate it because the developers deserve the money
