Its expensive now obviously because 12mp are just starting to appear, give it a couple of years and it'll be more affordable. Im pretty sure theres people out there that probably spent the same amount of money on cams that were considered hi-res\top of the line a few years back but are now more affordable.

c312 01-15-2006 04:34 PM

haven't they had cameras in the 20s megapixal range for a while? they were just like really expensive?

elstatec 01-15-2006 04:46 PM

unless you want to make decent lifesize photos of a giant then gay.

Milla 01-15-2006 04:46 PM

You dont need more than 4mps if you plan on just making 4x6, 5x7, or 8x11's. Now if you want to crop and make 8x11's 5 mps might be better

you guys dont realize that this camera wouldn't be for the average joe. it would be for extreme professionals. this is like a 30k+ camera. how much do you think the cameras are that movie producers use? exactly.

Jin-Roh 01-15-2006 07:04 PM

The cameras my school uses cost 7 grand then the lenses cost another 4-5 grand. They arent top of the line but they are VERY nice cameras. The cameras CNN and other big money coprs. use cost around $50k. The difference between movies and TV isnt necessarly the camera but its the Frame rate, film runs around 27fps which gives it that warm, fuller movie feel. TV at 30fps for the more real, right now feel.
That camera(no lense) costs $30,000+ because it is TOP of the line. It takes 70mb pictures for godsake. With 39mp you can probably take a picture of a stadium from one end, zoom in on the other end in the picture and read the numbers on some dudes watch. Thats why they want 39mp, for the ammount of detail in the picture.

cameras like that are fairly standard in the fasion industry...

my friend shoots pics of models in NY and he says they do test shots with a $8000 US camera, so image what they take the real pics with...

Himmler 01-15-2006 10:15 PM

Himmler 01-16-2006 12:18 AM
