New graphic Abu Ghraib images
 

oh well, sucks to be them but Im OK! It is hard to say it was torture though. There is nothing behind the photos. I liked the one quote from the article

during a prison riot with people that will gladly kill you what are you supposed to do? Use kid gloves? no blow thier asses away, thats what. I may be cold hearted but I have ZERO sympathy for them

These are from the same time as the abuse that we all know about, it was bad, some soldiers messed up, they should and are being tried/convicted

No one has said it yet, but back when the first Abu Gharib pictures were released I heard a lot of people saying the same thing, "What kind of idiot would take pictures?" So basically the horrible treatment of prisoners isn't bad but the pictures are!

A man from some Government organization said yesterday they didn't want the photos released because it would infringe on the detainees rights to privacy. oOo:

How is it ok to print this, but not the Muhammed cartoons ...

... well this whole thing about the release of 'US abuse images' is based on the ACLU. People have been blamed, and punished ... apparently 30+ was not enough and 4-5 months was not long enough wait. Things like this fuel anti-US feelings, and causes more violence.

the point of printing teh prison photos is to expose what is going on over there after Bush has repeatedly said that torture isnt going on.

and those photos are from the same event, is not like a new thing happen, they are releasing old pictures. Is like Paris Hilton releasing Hr 2 of her video from that one night.

that does change my opinion a bit, but not to where i think that they should be supressed or that any new images should be as well, but i think they were released to bring this back to the media attention again. still, they wouldnt be in the media if torturing wasnt going on. its kinda hard to blame people for exposing old and new behavior when its this graphic.

Media is such a potent tool nowadays, what with the ability to display visual media in a shitload more extra places than was possible a decade ago. Releasing images from an "isolated incident" over a year ago, is just as effective in stirring up the shit as it would have been releasing them with the other pictures that were initially provided to the public.
