AIDS
big issue these days. What do you think about it?
[url=http://www.michaelspecter.com/pdf/aidsfact.pdf:fe809]Here's[/url:fe809] an interesting article we read in my global politics class about the efforts to produce a vaccine. I'll share my idea on what to do about it after some other people have talked about it. |
I have a lot to say about AIDS, but i'll save it for when I have some more time.
|
I'd love to hear what you think about how to handle the issue, ninty. happy:
Doesn't anyone else have any ideas about what to do with the current aids problem? |

I would've thought cancer would be a bigger problem. At least with aids, we know how people are contracting it....be careful who you fuck without a condom. |
you'd think it would be simple to fix, but the numbers are way too high.
|
Well, I actually don't think I have as much to say about aids as I originally thought, because i'm trying to keep the controvertial posts limited, but I think that it is possible that the AIDS virus could be deliberate and or man made.
Some attribute the explosion of AIDS to vaccines such as smallpox administered by the WHO. I tend to avoid vaccinations. |
Lol you seriously need to take off the tinfoil helmet and come out of the basement dude. seriously do you walk around like this

No, but I do read a lot.
The origin of aids has never been proven. It is believed to have jumped from monkeys to humans in africa, however no animal on the planet carries the virus naturally and the first case of AIDS was in the states, not africa. |
maybe the first case we found out about was in America...

what would be the purpose of creating a virus like AIDS?
|
Population control.
|
can't bad things ever just happen for no reason?
|
Most things happen because people make conscious decisions about things, but yes i'm sure there are situations in which something bad happens for no reason.

I think we should tattoo "AIDS" on the genitals of everyone who is infected.

black doesnt show up well on black.
|
that's why we'd use white, or possibly teal.

"... these women harbored a rare defensive weapon within their immune systems."
Evolved immune systems? |
their t-cells were different somehow so that they couldn't get AIDS as long as they were continuously exposed to the virus.

This is an interesting read...
[quote:40bab] Why I Quit HIV by Rebecca V. Culshaw As I write this, in the late winter of 2006, we are more than twenty years into the AIDS era. Like many, a large part of my life has been irreversibly affected by AIDS. My entire adolescence and adult life – as well as the lives of many of my peers – has been overshadowed by the belief in a deadly, sexually transmittable pathogen and the attendant fear of intimacy and lack of trust that belief engenders. To add to this impact, my chosen career has developed around the HIV model of AIDS. I received my Ph.D. in 2002 for my work constructing mathematical models of HIV infection, a field of study I entered in 1996. Just ten years later, it might seem early for me to be looking back on and seriously reconsidering my chosen field, yet here I am. My work as a mathematical biologist has been built in large part on the paradigm that HIV causes AIDS, and I have since come to realize that there is good evidence that the entire basis for this theory is wrong. AIDS, it seems, is not a disease so much as a sociopolitical construct that few people understand and even fewer question. The issue of causation, in particular, has become beyond question – even to bring it up is deemed irresponsible. Why have we as a society been so quick to accept a theory for which so little solid evidence exists? Why do we take proclamations by government institutions like the NIH and the CDC, via newscasters and talk show hosts, entirely on faith? The average citizen has no idea how weak the connection really is between HIV and AIDS, and this is the manner in which scientifically insupportable phrases like "the AIDS virus" or "an AIDS test" have become part of the common vernacular despite no evidence for their accuracy. is a mathematics major with concentration on biology a good source for something medical? She does models on AIDS, using math, but that doesn't mean she has any medical reliability. I would trust this a little more if it were from a doctor of science. And this isn't just because I don't want to believe what you are saying ninty, I find this very interesting, I'd just like to see a source I can trust a little more before I get too caught up in it.
