I'm in the process of converting one of the RtCW autokick mods over to MoHAA, but need one of you folks that knows something about Unix to help me out. I haven't touched it in 15 years and am having problems with cygwin and perl. Anyone wanna lend a hand? Lemme know at crow-king@home.com.

Oh thanks man. When you get done, send it to Bad script, do you know how?. Do you mean like in DoD. Once I kill a team mate I am kicked, cool. Most games have friendly fire off though. There still are plenty of servers with friendly fire on

i'm telling you guys, the best mod is just having TK off.. I mean really whats the point of having it on anyway, you know it's just going to bring problems into a game..

good point but people want it on to bring some sort of caution into the game i guess i leave it on in other games(cant host in this one :P) and watch people "accidently" kill other teamates i used to kick people after they do it more than one time cause one time can be accident 2 times is just ignorance

For one thing, it would make people more cautious with grenades. I defend grenade spamming because it is a good (and realistic) tactic. But you should not only get whacked by your own nades, but by any nade.

In the end, for me personally, it's more of a challenge. But I guess I'm challenged enough right now just trying to port this crazy thing....

Bad idea!!!
While team-killers are annoying most of the time, it is sometimes necessary.
I was playing the Remagen map and all that the axis did was have 10 guys with rockets guarding the only 2 approaches to their part of the city. When anyone came around the corner they got 'zooked from 5 launchers and I was getting very tempted to team-kill all the axis.

maybe a constant tk auto kick would be better. i've had team mates run into a room i'm trying to nade a couple of times. i shouldn't be kicked for their stupidity.

Hmmm....I like the FF servers for the realism...and I also like to have the griefers auto kicked or banned for a few minutes. That is a great thing.

I however love to be able to run up to a beach camping sniper on the allied side and shoot him. Nothing more agravating then to have 1/2 of your allied team sitting on the beach and not moving towards the guns. But, nothing more gratifing then blasting them after telling them to get their asses off the beach and help. Then after blasting them a few times they actually grab a rifle and charge the beach and help.

I enjoy having the friendly fire on. It makes the game more realistic and less of a DM style game. You have to use more team work then just lone gunman that so many people are fond of. When I play a team match I want to work as a team. It's too bad that so many children have to come in to some really great games and screw it up for the people who are trying to get in to the game. Maybe EA should have gone for that Mature rating.

One other thing....how is it that the HL engine is sooo friggen old and dated compared to the Q3 engine....yet it is so much nicer to have admin with and control the games?

I thought the new engines would have more options and all the cool shit that the HL engine would have wished it had....yet I find myself wishing for Admin Mod commands all the time.

I will. To the folks who think they will be kicked for accidentally killing someone, most autokick programs have a threshold that, once you pass it, you get kicked. Up to that point, you're given the benefit of the doubt.

Besides autokick, you also need a real tool for voting. Not enough people know how to either call a vote or bind keys for voting. Tackle that one some other time......

For anyone interested in this.....

I've been talking to someone who has developed other tools for Q3 based games and he has already created an auto kicker for TKer's. The app will be in testing soon, so I'm not going to re-invent the wheel. When it comes out, I'll make sure it gets sent to allliedassault for download.

Get over it. If you have FF this is what you get. If someone has "-100" kills it's a pretty safe bet this guy is a PROFESSIONAL TKER. However, LIKE RTCW, if a player tosses a grenade into a room where a SNIPER is waiting - and that guy is killed (which happens more than once), what are you going to do? Kick him for being smart?

TKers shouldn't be kicked if they accidently kill a teammate. Friendly fire happens, that's what makes it interesting. But someone who just keeps killing team members should be booted out. If they wanted to play a DM game then maybe they just need a little help on finding the right server.

Ok, one possible lame question...

What happens if you kill yourself by accident? Do you get kicked, or is this only for teammates? It's be nice if it could tell the diff... (ya know, throw a grenade and it bounces back into the room your in and you eat your own shrapnel?)

getting rid of FF is nothing more than giving in to lame tk'ers. I say keep it cause thats the way the game should be played. give us a voting or autoban and then we can get rid of the lamers. I was on a server last night that had voting but no one knew how to vote.

I refuse to let a few assholes ruin the game for me, I want FF on.
