Don't mind me, i'm just venting

Opened up my property tax bill for the year and nearly hit the roof. $8K and what do i get for my money? Shit, thats what i get. School taxes are $4500 and we don't even have bus service and there are 25 pupils per class.

Then the fuel truck just left a bill in my mailbox (i'm opening it up now....lets see....) Holy fuck, $480 for 178 gallons of fuel!! I used to average $1k a year for fuel. cry:

I can't believe how much shit costs these days. I really feel sorry for younger people just starting out. Houses in my town start at $500k. How do people afford to buy it, then have to pay crazy taxes and pay to heat it? Fuckin' unbelievable!!

Also, on the flip side, i was getting ready to sell off a bunch of baseball cards i had as a kid (taking up room and i never look at them) and went to eBay to look around. Well, seems the market just crapped out on them. Good thing i never "invested" in them. It was just something i did as a hobby.

Like i said, never mind me, i'm just sitting here scratching my head and venting. I need to start robbing banks.....lol

Holy shit dude! I thought I had it bad!
I'm in the UK so most of the stuff I can't relate to but I bet it equals
some of the crap we have over here.

It's all big business and screw the little guy.

2 words, wood stove.
We have a wood stove in our house and I think we fill our oil tank once a year when prices get real low.
AS for houses, really depends on where you are. A good house in my town goes for at least 200k but the average im sure is like 400k

Sgt. Paine 03-17-2006 12:59 PM

penny pinching time i guess. :D

Sgt>Stackem 03-17-2006 01:12 PM

housing prices are why I moved away from the metro Detroit area, I got WAY more house for my money an hour away from Detroit. Houses in my area go from 150K to 500K

What will piss you off more is the GT500 going for 150k on ebay right now.

Milla 03-17-2006 02:12 PM

Here the prices of houises has doubled/ tripled.

My parents bought the house we are living in right now for 250,000. Now its worth over 500,000. Most houses around here will not go for under 300,000, and thats a small ass house.

Unknown_Sniper 03-17-2006 02:17 PM

when we lived in SAn Diego we had a small 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath house that sold for clsoe to 200k in '98. We got our new house in NH for I think around 70-80k and now with the work we put in + prices rising etc its gotta be worth at least 200K

The majority of older people believe their world was harder.

I wish when I was 20 I could afford a car easilly...like every highschool kid in the 70s.

But we don't live in prosperity like the baby boomers.

Thats the 2nd thing troubling me. I sat down with the Vice President of the dealership i'm doing business with and he doesn't know how many cars he's getting. The owner ofthe dealership is slated to get the 1st car. There are 2 other people behind him, then it's me. That dealership needs to get 4 cars in order for me to get one. I'm having lunch with him soon and i may want to bow out of the '07 race and be #1 for the '08. They're only doing a 2 year run of this car and i want to be sure i don't miss the boat. I'm thinking if they can guarantee me #1 for the 2008, i'll go for that. As far as price, i already have "MSRP" in writing on my "Pre-Order" from last April.

just for the record. each generation has its good and bad. I dont think you have it worse than my generation nor mine than yours. (as a whole, there are exceptions to everything)

Jin-Roh 03-17-2006 07:19 PM

Average home around here costs $400K. Max, I think, is like $5M

When you get your first house, you've got to stretch a little. I only wish my wife and I bought something a little more expensive when we got our first house, but we weren't all that comfortable with a big chunk of our paychecks going toward a mortgage. As it turns out, we bought a townhouse and sold it 2.5 years later and turned a $140K profit. That's the only way we can afford to live in the house we do now. The sad part is we probably could have gotten my current house for about $200K cheaper if we had sucked it up in the beginning.
