Car Enthusiasts Unite: What to Buy?

Ok, so I'm trading in my mostly beloved RX-8 and getting one of the following new rides. I'd like your input, especially from those who are into cars and have something valuable to add:

1. 2003 BMW 325Ci

2. 2003 Audi A4 3.0 Quattro

Both have comparable price and mileage and I'm kind of torn. Your opinions are appreciated.

Nyck 03-20-2006 08:43 PM

dont get the "bimmer" we already have one fgt from michigan with one biggrin:

Unknown_Sniper 03-20-2006 08:43 PM

BMW. They are a drivers car and you will get more notice with it. However they do have electrical gremlins, jsut not the bazillion that audi's have. Id def go with the 325

Milla 03-20-2006 08:46 PM

Fuck the Bimmer, go with the A4. I love those, and they are very nice.

Cant beat AWD. I believe the 325 has RWD.

Correct, its RWD, which is one of the reasons I'm dumping my mazda. I've heard it does much much better in snow than the RX-8 (don't know what doesn't do better) so its tough to say.

gtboys34 03-20-2006 08:55 PM

can i have your old rx8?

Nyck 03-20-2006 08:56 PM

were you bought out by ford? Visteon in Ypsilanti got Pwned

Bleuachdu 03-20-2006 08:59 PM

Nein.... Visteon is independent of Ford.

The plant in Ypsi used to be a Visteon plant. However, this summer Visteon sold 13 plants to Ford. It's a long complicated story, but the moral of the story is: Ford is in trouble, Visteon is doing pretty good.

Milla 03-20-2006 09:00 PM

Just stfu and get the Audi happy:

Bleuachdu 03-20-2006 09:02 PM

I love you too

take into consideration how easy it is to get fixed if something goes wrong with it? Does the bmw have readily available parts? Are they hard to get? Are they cheap? Just something to think about.

Bleuachdu 03-20-2006 09:05 PM

Both carry warranties for a few years. This is indeed a good point, but not something that will really come into consideration for my purchase.

Unknown_Sniper 03-20-2006 09:07 PM

Now that the word Snow has been brought into the equation get a fucking STI and you will be happy.

Bleuachdu 03-20-2006 09:11 PM

Looked into WRX's, but insuring one is much more costly than either of these.

Unknown_Sniper 03-20-2006 09:16 PM

good point. If you get a lot of snow, And by a lot I mean you are driving on an inch of snow EVERY day to work and back then I would go with the AWD Audi. If you rarely have to drive in snow I would go with the BMW. RWD is not fun to have in snow but it is on the dry pavement.

Machette 03-20-2006 09:17 PM

Bleuachdu is leet.

Milla 03-20-2006 09:20 PM

Agree unknown, i knew he had to deal with snow, which is why i said Audi. (plus io think that audi looks a lot sexier than that BMW)

Also bleu and i were discussing WRX's a while back biggrin:

Unknown_Sniper 03-20-2006 09:22 PM

and I think BMW's are about 5X sexier than Audis.

Himmler 03-20-2006 09:23 PM

get a 03 or 04 g35 biggrin: biggrin:

out of those two id get the audi

If you're interested in Detroit and the very strange culture around here, read this book.[/url:b9fe8]

It was written by a friend of mine ed: but I really think its worth a look. Gives an interesting perspective on race relations and the prevailing tension in Detroit, which is the most racically segregated city in the US. Two years ago I moved into the area thats 83% black (I'm a white guy) so this is a very personal and relevant book for me.

Sorry for the aside, which I'm sure will ultimately derail my own thread.

Bleuachdu 03-20-2006 09:27 PM

G35's are indeed hot... but insuring one where I live (see my derailing post above) is almost impossible.

Also, the snow here is only 3 or 4 months of the year. It can be nasty, but like this winter, it can also be very mild. Its kind of hit or miss.

Bucknub 03-20-2006 09:27 PM

after watching "Transporter 2" id get the Audi

I'd go with the A4, Bleu. My buddy has owned two of them and he swears by them.

Neither, get this instead

Personally, i'd opt for the Audi. The beemer is too much of a "bling bling" car. You can blame that image (and the hummer) on NBA players and rap artists.

Jin-Roh 03-21-2006 02:37 PM

BMWs are every where now. eek:

I'd say the Bentley or the Rolls Royce would be more tainted by the "bling bling" image...But I think owning a BMW isn't as 'cool' as it used to be...They're so common place now - The Audi is just cooler.
