A continuation of this thread.[/url:9eda8] And ofcourse the pics from here.[/url:9eda8] The GXP option is about a $6,000 option and will start at about $26,000. ---- All from GM... From its 2002 auto show introduction to an early-order program that sold 1,000 cars in 41 minutes, the Pontiac Solstice has always invoked a passionate response from customers. Now, Pontiac is taking the vehicle’s combination of sensuous styling and driving exhilaration to a new level with the announcement of the turbocharged 2007 Solstice GXP. “Creating a GXP performance edition of the Solstice is a natural extension of the capabilities of this car,” said John Larson, Pontiac general manager. “On its own, the base Solstice offers all of the qualities one would expect from a classic roadster – style, crisp handling, and spirited performance. The Solstice GXP takes that pure roadster DNA and pushes it to a new level, with a 47 percent boost in horsepower and other enhancements for a more thrilling driving experience.” The heart of the Solstice GXP is the Ecotec 2.0-liter turbo engine, GM’s first direct injection offering in North America . It produces 260 horsepower (194 kw) and 260 lb.-ft. of torque (353 Nm),* making it GM’s highest specific output engine ever, at 2.1 horsepower per cubic inch of displacement (130 hp / 97 kw per liter), and the most powerful production engine in the Ecotec family. A dual-scroll turbocharger with a lightweight turbine provides nearly instant power, and an air-to-air intercooling system boosts the turbo’s performance by reducing inlet temperatures. Dual cam phasing complements the turbocharging system by optimizing valve timing at lower rpm for best turbo response and quick access to engine torque. Direct injection technology helps the Ecotec engine produce more power while maintaining the lower fuel consumption of a small displacement port-injected engine. With direct injection, fuel is delivered directly to the combustion chamber to create a more complete burn of the air/fuel mixture. Less fuel is required to produce the equivalent horsepower, especially at normal cruising speeds, of a conventional port-injection combustion system. The GXP’s high-performance Ecotec turbo engine is connected to a standard five-speed manual gearbox, or an optional five-speed automotive transmission. Either transmission can propel the car from zero-to 60 mph in under 5.5 seconds. As with other members of GXP family, the Solstice GXP provides a number of standard features not available on the base model, including: -Unique front and rear fascias -High polish, dual-outlet exhaust -StabiliTrak vehicle stability enhancement system -3.73 rear axle ratio -Interior refinements including unique GXP gauge cluster and Cobalt Red seat stitching The GXP also comes standard with a number of features available as options on the base model, including: -Sport suspension system -Four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock -Limited-slip rear differential -Power window/locks/mirrors and remote keyless entry -Leather-wrapped steering wheel with accessory controls and cruise control -Driver information center -18-inch polished aluminum wheels Additional options include a rear deck spoiler, leather seating, sport metallic pedals, chrome wheels, enhanced audio options, including XM Satellite Radio, and OnStar. 2007 PONTIAC SOLSTICE GXP SPECIFICATIONS Overview Models: Pontiac Solstice GXP Body style / driveline: 2-passenger, 2-door roadster ; front-engine, rear-wheel drive performance model Construction: welded galvanized steel enclosed central tunnel and hydroformed tube EPA vehicle class: two seater Manufacturing location: Wilmington , Delaware Key competitors: Honda S2000, BMW Z4, Porsche Boxster, Nissan 350Z Engine 2.0L SIDI Turbo Ecotec Type: 2.0L DOHC I-4 Displacement (cu in / cc): 122 / 1998 Bore & stroke (in / mm): 3.39 x 3.39 / 86 x 86 Block material: cast aluminum Cylinder head material: cast aluminum Valvetrain: dual continuous variable valve timing, overhead camshafts, 4 valves per cylinder – intake and exhaust Ignition system: individual coil on plug Fuel delivery: direct injection with a variable high pressure rail and electronic throttle control Compression ratio: 9.2:1 Horsepower (hp / kw @ rpm): 260 / 194 @ 5300 (SAE certification pending)* Torque (lb-ft / Nm @ rpm): 260 / 353 @ 2000-5300 (SAE certification pending)* Recommended fuel: premium Max engine speed (fuel cut-off): 6300 rpm Emissions controls: close-coupled catalytic converters; Quick-Sync 58x ignition system; returnless fuel rail; wide range O 2 sensor Estimated fuel economy (mpg city / hwy / combined): 20 / 27 / 23 est. pontiac?
Poor Old Ni***r Thinks Its A Cadillac ...just in case no one already knew that i like the trippy comercial, but still wouldnt be caught dead in the driver's seat of one, even tho pontiacs have the muscle, thier bad rep and brand name is enough to keep even the sluttiest of sluts out of the passenger seat |
Thats what fantastic looks like? God damn what happened to society.
This is not the 80's or 90's anymore lol. GM's qaulity matches that of any Import. They far surpass most Euro makers at the current moment as well. Even if they base model Solstice can't completely match cars like the MazdaSpeed Miata, its interior is light years ahead.[/quote:1a5fa]
too bad GM is completely fucked business-wise, theyve been on the downward spiral for decades now for bad structuring and making lots of empty promises to thier workers ill tell you what, if GM survives the baby-boomer retirement tidal wave here in the us, i would be happy to buy a GM car and help em make the recovery |
it looks like a chicks car

FOR every GM sold, about 3000 $ on average go toward pension plans. Imports are not experiencing this issue because they do not have nearly as many on pension plans and such. BUT their time will come. |
thats what you get for making empty promises and thinking youll get away with it i guess, just sucks for all those workers, and even worse, for all of us who have yet to enter the workforce who will have no social security besides whatever we save for ourselves
fuckin baby boomers mad: |
The Union's pushed to hard. Lower pensions would have meant a more stable GM. They will pay the price for their own greed to be honest. GM workers have always been payed well + massive benefits + massive pensions...HOW hard is it to put 25 $ a week into a RRSP ?

I like my Mazdaspeed Miata's interior. Simple, clean, and nice to look at. Im personaly interested in what features, details, and materials make the interior superior. (gg ryme masta) It does look ok, but i fucking hate those inset bezeled gauges that everone uses these days. Theres alot of empty space and the radio looks cheap. Really cheap. Room for improvment definantly, but better than alot these days. i'll stick with my Miatas though. |
miatas are fucking sweet ass cars. Id rather one a miata over the solstice any day.
|
looks nice but i'd rather have a new mitisibishi eclipse spyder

(Was considering buying a new car back in November) THe only thing I feel the miata has over the solstice is driving feel, you feel more as one with the road. BUT, then again invest the extra money you saved on the miata into the solstice and I beleive it would match, if not surpass it in that area. Interior Shots. Solstice http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-2006/ ... 0x1200.jpg biggrin: . Seems more streamlined, the lines flow better inside, the shifter feels fucking fantastic. Feels roomy, more open, NO nasty shin/ ankle rubbage Like most modern cars.... I liked it alot.. Personal opinion though I guess.... The lines of the car.. TO ME just flow really nicely. AGAIn Interior Shots, Miata Pre 2005 blah. http://www.autobytel.com/images/carPics ... erior2.jpg 2005 + major improvement over previous models... BUT this is a loaded leather interior.. I would like to see one with a regular fabric seats would be like. http://mazda.jbcarpages.com/MX5/2006/Bi ... terior.jpg I like both to be honest, but the SOlstice appeals to me more. AND ryhme masta... wtf.. Which Year do you own ? |
Best way to capitolize on baby boomers: What Im doing. Majoring in Law, working in senior law. Retire when the BBs start dying off.

the s2000 is not in the base model Solstice's class....... its in its own league... Although the GXP version will more then contend with it.
