geRV 04-16-2006 12:23 PM

c&c tiberian dawn and red alert 1. Rest of that series have sucked imo. loney:

Mr.Buttocks 04-16-2006 12:50 PM

Any of the Chessbase games (Fritz, Junior, Shredder etc)

Madmartagen 04-16-2006 01:38 PM

I play rise of nations all the time, but it gets boring after a bit. If it only had a better map designer.....

C&C Red Alert 2 is awesome, I totally forgot about Tiberian Sun though, they were fun to play. I have yet to play Rome: Total War

Stammer 04-16-2006 01:47 PM

Rome Total War; only for custom battles in which I slaughter thousands of peasants with elite archers.

Rise of Nations but like Mad says it gets boring.

Machette 04-16-2006 01:50 PM

Age of Empires. 1 & 2.

Johnj 04-16-2006 02:22 PM

I'm kinda fond of the Getting Laid game at my local watering hole.

happy:

Himmler 04-16-2006 02:23 PM

C&C Generals: Zero Hour, Star Wars: Empire at War, Act of War: Direct Action are all awesome IMO.

Thrones and Patriots is a good buy if you're looking for new and better conquests. Alexander and the Cold War ones are good.

Crazy Canadian 04-16-2006 03:12 PM

Hawke 04-16-2006 05:53 PM

Rome Total War, Barbarian Invasion, Age of Empires: Age of the Kings.

04-16-2006 05:57 PM

Cossacks: The Art of War

by far my most favorite RTS.

Zap. USMC 04-16-2006 05:59 PM

tiberian sun, red alert 1, rome total war.

never liked red alert 2 at all, the whole post ww2 1950s feel and colours made it look shit compared to the scifi-ness of the others.

Zoner 04-17-2006 08:23 AM

I have the exact opposite take on that. I loved Red Alert 2 and didn't care for Tiberian Sun.

S'all good, though.

jujumantb 04-17-2006 03:28 PM

Combat Mission- all three releases
Very realistic WWII turn based type gameplay.
download the demos here

Pyro 04-17-2006 04:28 PM

Starcraft is by far the best one...
Red alert 1
rome: total war

Vlad_Drak 04-17-2006 04:58 PM

I have played almost every rts there is, age of empires 3 is the best imho.

Starcraft is god.

Proteus 04-17-2006 06:54 PM

Close Combat is also pretty sick. It's a birds eye view of battles in WWII. I loved that game but I lost my copy.

c312 04-17-2006 07:43 PM

Rise of Nations, but I'm excited for Rise of Legends, it looks cool.

dr nein 04-17-2006 07:47 PM

tiberian sun? are you kidding? any game that combines superweapons with an ai that lands them square on the important parts of your base without even locating the base in the first place deserves to die.

but ja starcraft is awesome. i still play it from time to time.

Sirus 04-17-2006 08:38 PM

For those of you who like starcraft, you should try the demo for Dawn of war.

Blizzard when making their game took all their ideas from warhammer 40k which is exactly what Dawn of war is based directly off of.

Relic the creator of Dawn of war also came up with a revolutionary resource system which relies on taking and holding strategic points. It rewards aggresive players and controlling the whole map instead of just taking crystals and gas and turtling.

I am a big fan of RTS games and def have to say this one stands above all. It got alot of awards including game of the year.

link to demo.
