Hypothetical Question
I'm proposing this situation out of pure curiosity and entertainment.
The situation is: Someone walks up to you and says they know of an alien race and they are willing to take you, and only you on an interstellar voyage. The catch is, you know nothing about the race, you don't know what they look like, what they eat, how they fly from place to place, nothing. They could just as well eat you as soon as you board, or they could show you all the secrets of the universe. You have no idea and the only way to find out is to go with them. IF you say no, you will never be given the opportunity again. You can either accept the offer without knowing your fate, or reject it. What do you do and why? If you say no, would it not drive you insane the rest of your life to know what could have been? |
More chance getting gangraped than meeting an alien race. NEIN.
|
nah
|
I would tell them to seek therapy
|
no, the risk is way too high. I wouldn't want to be eaten or be turned into mush with light travel.
|
nope. Who gives a damn about aliens!? I've watched et and independence day, that's all the ed i need on their "race"
Et phone hoo... shut the fuck up- friend |
Sure.
|
if i were single at the time, i think i would say yes. if they can afford to send a rep to this planet, they can prolly feed themselves.
if i were to say no, im sure i would be comfortable with my decision. better safe than sorry. |
yes, but only if we get mcdonalds on the way.
|
i would go, but i would bring a 1 round pistol so if anything goes wrong i can end my life without being torn apart
|
fuck no...unless all the chicks had like 4 tits
|
No, I'm afraid of gays.
|
Ask me this a few years ago and I would have instantly said yes. But now, I dunno, I don't think I would. I would love ot see the universe and all that but earth.... its home, and I have a lot here I love.
|
nope, i have too much to live for. or so they say

Depends on when I get asked the question, and it depends on who's asking. If I'm around a psych ward and there's an alarm going saying someone's escaped and a stranger asked me, I'd probably say no. Also I would want it to be later in my life just incase I do get probed and anally tortured.
|
Yeah, but only if I could Phone A Friend.
|
I wouldn't.
I assume, that if an alien race were advanced enough and wished to impart some type of knowledge upon me they wouldn't require me to take one of the largest chances in my life on a decision which can at best be described as dubious. Sorry, I just don't want to end up in the obituary, and have a thread about me with the "You gonna get raped" picture posted somewhere in it. |
Refer to the "Time Machine" episode of Upright Citizens Brigade.
I really do have a time machine You have a cardboard box! |

I guess what the question boils down to is are you willing to risk your life to partake in something that could end up being one of the most extrodinary things ever in the history of the human race. FYI, myself I would say yes, the only thing I would give a second thought to would be my family. it would probably be hard on them if I just disappeared one day out of the blue. |
Id say no probably.
Only way id say yes is if I was like 60+ in age. Earth is too good to me...and I like not knowing things...knowing everything takes the fun outta life...thats why i say fuck church id rather not give a shit than try to find out and devote part of my life to something that doens't matter. Either way if I was old...damn right I would but right now...id rather enjoy this life. |
I would have to say no, only because I would be asking myself "Why me?" They have one person to take and they ask me, why?.
But you would have to wonder about the type of technology the have, if they can travel the universe than there technology must be crazy back where they live. |
Yes, life needs a little something.

you should make like a speilberg movie and get frozen forever at the bottom of some shithole iceberg |
It's a tough question for me, If I had to make the decision on the spot, i'd probably say yes, but like ninty, leaving my family would be hard and I think it's worth the risk, cuase if they are honest you would be the first human to ever travel at those speeds and through space.
|
i would.
in all honesty im quite bored with life as it is right now, and the idea of family doesnt do a thing for me. so anything that would offer a new experience id be open to. |
