All the footage you've seen so far has been in direct x 9 mode using an x1900 crossfire setup. Should be interesting to see how direct x 10 improves on the effects.

SoLiDUS 06-05-2006 04:58 PM

... but did you notice that even in Crossfire mode, this thing was chugging along? I don't think they were getting more than 25 FPS! Even after optimization, this is going to make me purchase new hardware. Poor wallet, he just wants to be fat like the other wallets, but can't quite seem to keep the weight!

I won't be getting this game. Once you get past the graphics and the physics, it's just like every other FPS. Rainbow SIx Las Vegas for the PS3 and 360 looks a lot better IMO. I know that won't be a popular opinion. I'm actually surprised myself, because I've never played a FPS on consoles that I liked. I've always gone with computer FPS games, but this one just looks bland aside from the amazing graphics. Now MGS3, if a FPS could incorporate some of the features found in that game, then that would really be a next-gen game to behold.

Its chugging mainly because the game is nowhere near optomised yet,it will ship witha dx 9 mode in it as well as having dx 10 features. I

They showed off 2 maps, you've not played it so how do you come to the conclusion that its "just gonna be like every other fps game"? At the very least give the demo a try when its out before looking into a crystal ball.

Chronic Diarrhea 06-05-2006 05:30 PM

Well it sure does look like it will play pretty much like any other FPS game. That is not really a bad thing, because I do like FPS games, but I feel like this is the time for FPS games to really head to another level with the gameplay. Being able to pick up objects and block doors with them was impressive, so you may be right.

I've already addressed the optimization issue: even when they improve the performance, it will still require massive hardware precipitating my wallet into a diet, the likes it has never seen before. :-)
