PUTS concert - Rap fans only pls
Went to see People Under The Stairs live last night with a bunch of my buddies - It was fucking wicked. Second time I have seen them, but last time they came 2 years ago they seemed to not even come close to the concert they out on last night, it was fucking awesome. Unfortunately there are no pics (FFSSSSSSSSSS).
There were only like 70 people in this small bar/theatre - But the energy matched that of a crowd of at least a thousand. Double K and Thes One were just strollin' around with the rest of the crowd before they went on. Hitting the bar etc, so me and one of my mates decided to go up and at least say thanks for the years of music. (I'm such a huge fan) So anyway, we go up to Double K and my mate leads with the talking, I was amazed at how approachable he was, VERY humble for a guy that's been in a group that has released 5 amazing albums. Had a great conversation, then later on he comes back and approaches US. I was speechless, I thought that was so cool. He came back to have another little chat, and so my mate offers him a joint - Then he tells us to come over and meet Thes One, so we go say hi, and have another quick convo, what a guy - He thanked us very dearly for buying their CDs and for just generally being fans. So they tell us they have to go get ready for the show, and go backstage (Probably to smoke the joint), then while on the stage (We got right up the front row, being the fanboys we all are) as Double K kicks a freestyle in the middle of the show, he references our nice gesture and busts out "Hey my man, and ya boy - thanks for the joint!" as the punchline of a little rap which I can't remember coz I was pretty stoned/drunk and then reaches down and gives us both handshakes. I felt realllll special, then I tried to suck them off live on stage. No really, that was just insane for me. So anyway, at the end of the show, we get pulled out amongst the small crowd, out onto the street....and we're waiting for my mate who comes out about 20 mins later with a free signed t-shirt, from both Thes and Double K, both with long messages to remember them by, and a free unreleased vinyl remix of a track that hasn't even made it to the internet yet, he assured my mate that noone he knows will have a copy of it. My mate who is a DJ himself was just fucking beaming with glee. Just thought I'd share my night - This is the sort of thing that gets me off. DEFINITELY if you get a chance to see the Peoples live - DO IT. You won't regret it. That concert, even without meeting Thes and KK, was one of the best hiphop concerts I've been too - The Roots, and Gang Starr concerts that I went to have now been bumped off the throne, and a new live act reigns supreme. SOOO much raw energy. Oh, all the memories I can now jack off too. Thes One, Double K |
pimp, a girl I know went to highschool with P.O.S., got to meet him at a show, but it wasnt as good as your story haha

who the fuck are those clowns ?
|
yeah double k seems cool as shit in his rhymes, im surprised they didnt invite you backstage to blaze with them
meeting someone that high on your list (my list for hip hop too, you lucky bastard), must have been unreal. if i ever met the roots i would be so happy, i wouldnt freak out, might come off a little too into the group, but nonetheless that sucks you didnt get pics, but ill be sure to go next time theyre in town and mention you and your boy beer: anything notable from the setlist? |

If I ever met Doom, though - I'd probably embarrass myself, that guy to me is next to godliness. Yeah, they did the best set, Started off with mostly Stepfather tracks, Step In, Pass The 40, Tuxedo Rap, Jamboree and then they threw on a bunch of their classics...The Hang Loose, San Francisco Knights, Acid Raindrops, Jappy Jap, Blowin Wax, Time To Rock Our Shit (Which I yelled into the mic when It was put in front of me by Thes rock: ) and a number of other freestyles and tracks which I've forgotton about. Crazy night, I got super high afterwards during me and my mates concert debriefing session. |
fuck yeah dude, my fav PUTS songs are
the outrage, mid-city fiesta, suite for beaver, eat street, the brownout, i like those little 2 part suites they do ive smoked once in the past 6 weeks, next time i blaze im gonna be on cloud 9 cool: |
