My work computer froze up this morning and upon rebooting I got a BSOD saying that something in the registry was fucked and wouldn't load. So, I googled the prob, managed to get back into Windows, but now all my apps are fucked, all my settings are smoked, all my emails gone...total fuckery.

Gonna try reinstalling the OS and seeing if that rights the ship. If not, format c:

i just got DSL (damn small linyx) installed it on my old p.c, that thang is awesome, no freezes or di di diis! happy:

I'm so worried something will happen to my comp - I'll lose my beloved 10,000+ MP3 collection. At 44gb it's too big to back-up.

If that goes, I just might consider suicide.

get an external hard drive and put all of your media stuff on it like music, videos, and porn.

ive did the extrenal drive thing but was still worried about my mp3s like tripper... i just backed those fukers up to 12 dvds. it didnt take quite as long as i thought.

having the external is a great help when i need to do shit with my main drive.

yep I have an external for my music and pics

that's actually a really smart idea. i reformat once every 3 months and i lose everything.

yeah, i "acquired" a copy of internet security and system works 06 but it caused my system to crash and i had to use ghost to go back to a restore point every time so i had to reformat and go back to 05. i have ghost 05 but never installed it because i don't really care that much. i just reformat if it's needed.

Yeah but ghost cuts down the time for installing your os, games etc, i usualy instal my games and drivers then make a ghost image. Anything fucks up it takes me like 20 mins to restore the image instead of like over an hour to format, reinstall windows then my games then my drivers then mess with my games settings.

44gigs? That's reasonably small MP3's... My collection of 1150 or so is about 9 gigs. o_O

I did a smart playlist thing with itunes and about 900 of those tracks are under 2 minutes long....You get that when the majority of your albums are rap albums which tend to have intros, interludes and outros peppered throughout the albums....
I've only got around 400 tracks that are over 6 minutes....

Using my shiny new XP install. Reinstalling everything now.
