im hearing some good shit about this game. while playing online you basically have to murder someone , while avoiding "someone" trying to kill you ( you have no idea who it is thats trying to kill you, just as your target has no idea you are trying to kill them). you also have to fulfill needs , such as eating shittings sleeping etc. all while trying to avoid being snuffed out. |
interesting concept

sounds boring.

[quote:615b0]Ok I'm in a few hours of playing this game. It kinda feels a bit like an MMO. The pace is slow, you spend time walking around trying to find weapons, clothing items, food, etc. You also spend your time trying to hunt down your quarry. There is the additional paranoia of who else might be your hunter.
I figured out that it is best to dispatch your quarry quickly and then make your way to a public part of the ship. That way you can take care of eating or sleeping or whatnot and you can be relatively safe. I did find out, however, that you are not completely safe. If you are sitting in a chair napping in a protected area, you can still be killed by a guy with a pistol or some explosives who is standing outside the camera eye. [/quote:615b0] http://www.theshiponline.com/videos/The ... railer.wmv [quote:615b0]I'm figuring out the do's and don'ts of the game. DO look behind you after you pass ANYONE. I don't care if they don't look the least bit suspicious. That least suspicious looking guy is probably your hunter. DON'T attempt to take care of too many needs at once after you have off'ed your hunter. I found that out the hard way. Turns out that if you kill your hunter you're still not safe for the round. He simply respawns and is still able to track you down and kill you. I attempted the sleep/crap/shower combo and ended up getting whacked in the shower. With a manniquin arm no less. I couldn't believe that he was able to get up there and smoke me so quickly. DON'T attempt to take a nap in a guarded "safe" area until you make sure there is no clear line of site to any unsafe area. Some of these guys are pretty good shots from a distance. Plus it's not too hard to kill someone who is sleeping in a chair. Newborn kittens are more sporting than that. DO make sure you find a weapon as quickly as possible. You'll need it to defend yourself as your attacker is sure to have 4 different weapons and will attempt to kill you with each. DON'T ignore the need to take a leak. I let that one go figuring I would just wet myself and have to take a shower. Oh no, when you have reached "critical mass" your character will stop and do the pee-pee dance for oh about 5-10 seconds leaving you vulnerable to attack. Again, learned that one the hard way. DON'T for any reason go into a sauna or freezer. Yea there are some sweet weapons in those but they're not worth having your attacker lock you in there and kill you by turning up the heat or turning it off altogether. DON'T pick up a purse or a wallet that is just lying around with no body near it. It is most likely set there by your attacker and he/she will blow you up with it. Finally, DON'T stand there watching the prey that you just lit up with a flare gun. If he's smart he'll chase you down and catch you on fire and kill you in his death throes[/quote:615b0] |
looks interesting, but i hate steam

HL1 engine. |
i think its the source engine ... i like the way it looks.
|
I remembered downloading it a long time ago when they had it for HL1, but no one played. When I saw it on steam I checked out the screenshots and thought the graphics were the same they used for HL1.
|
the graphics look like the legend of zelda games on n64. i personally like the nostalgic feel of older, less detailed graphics. plus sometimes amazing graphics distract from gameplay (but that's just me) i think it looks awesome, i'll most likely get it
|
I will garrotte you!
|
anyone thinking of checking it out or ? it might would be fun to have several of us trying to murder each other.

LMAO@ black man in top hat.

Kinda reminds me of Bounty Hunting in SWG.

People on the Steampowered forums say that assholes spoil the game by going around killing anyone/everyone.
|
A guy I know just started playing it a few minutes ago. He's talking to me via TS about it. I'll probably buy it soon. Hell, I haven't played a computer game in 6 months, why not try this for $20?

sounds EXACTLY what judas would do. |
The game was made in Scotland, so I guess that means it's awesome by default.
|

If you want to perform fellatio on me in the bathroom (in game of course) then PM me. |

It takes a while to get used to what is going on, and at first you're really pretty lost as far as knowing the locations of the ship and finding your quarry. There's a high sense of paranoia in this game as well, especially when you're walking around a corridor and some guy keeps following you. It's an interesting game, but I'll have to play it more until I can really say for sure whether it is worth buying or not.
|
Sounds great... been reading reviews & watching videos, I've actually come to like the graphics a little more than I did. I havent played any videogames for over a year or so, but I think I'll get this once it goes retail.

I played it last night until I finally came in first place, and I enjoy the game a lot. The game can be extremely frustrating, especially when you've been tactfully following your target for 2 minutes, then pull out a knife and stab him 3 times only to have him run away into some random cabin and you get completely lost in the map. Learning the maps is one of the most important aspects of the game as far as I can see, because knowing where weapon locations are can help you out a lot. There is a weapon for kill list, meaning there are certain weapons that change throughout the course of a game that will give you a lot of money if you kill your target with said weapon. I think the list is arranged in order of which weapon has not been used to kill with yet, but I'm not sure. Either way, that is the key to winning the game.
The needs you have to take care of (identical to The Sims) do not get in your way of destroying your target, unless you go 10 minutes straight without sitting down or sleeping. Usually you can fulfill enough of your needs when you're arrested and thrown in the brig to not worry about needing to take a crap when you're being chased by your hunter. What I realy like about this game are the endless tactics you can use. This game really allows you to use your brain to eliminate your target and stay safe from your hunter. Changing clothes takes your identity away, making it harder for your hunter to identify you, lounging around at the bar after your kill to prevent yourself from getting wacked, and closing doors in discreet locations to find out who your hunter are just some of the tactics you can use. The game is best described as "Clue" combined with "The Sims" (but not as annoying as The Sims is). This game is not for everybody, that's for sure, because you can only run for a few seconds at a time and you're always wanting to move faster to get away. Rember the tactical mod for MOHAA? That's about how slow you move unless you're running. This is probably what I love most about the game though, because it gets your heart pumping when you turn around and the same guy keeps following you around and you have to wait until your stamina goes back up to run again. I almost shat my pants last night when I couldn't run and my hunter pulled out a sword and came sprinting at me. I ran into a walk-through bathroom and closed 4 doors behind me to buy time, then I walked into a bar. That's how practically every round goes. |

lol, I could hardly understand them
