that'd be a wise decisoin.

I do like the features of it. It's interesting how they put the twist on the player. You can connect to other zune's wirelessly...so that gives you another reason to buy one since your friend has one.

Hot damn I am handsome.

Judas 09-14-2006 10:41 PM

i dont think itll hurt the ipod too much honestly. apple has done such a wicked job making it (part shouldnt be here) "the player" to have.

yep, not to mention all the cars that are coming out with the ipod dock standard with the vehicle. IPOD is here to stay IMO.

4gig use to be 249 ... its now 199 and the new "8 gig" is 250.

30 gig ipod is now 250 as well (same as the zun player @ 30 gigs)... that pricing scheme really doesnt make much sense to me. how the fuck can 30 gigs of storage and 8 gigs of storage cost the same thing?

Gonzo 09-15-2006 11:52 AM

ill stick with my creative zen for now

meh. I think the future is the Stiletto 100 from Sirius satellite radio. It is coming out at the end of the month and I've heard the retail price will be $349.

What you get:

Portable live satellite radio
WiFi connectivity (for when you are in a building and can't receive the satellite signal.

Storage for up to 1000 hours of programming (for when you can't the the sat signal or a WiFi signal)

This also gives you the ability to record a song that is playing, keep as an MP3, and not have to pay anything for it. Also it is a Play For Sure device, meaning it'll work with any pay service (other than iTunes) so you can put songs you've "rented" from the pay services on to the Stilleto. (I have Rhapsody subscription so I'm hoping this means I can download a ton of stuff I listen to on my PC)

Built in antenna, but antenna headphones will be included. (I got this info from one of their websites - I'm not sure if it means little iPod-like ear buds or real headphones - there is a rumor that it will be Bluetooth compatible)

It will come with 2 batteries, a regular and an extended life one. Up to 4 hours of live on the go wear, 14 hours of wifi, and 22 hours of recorded playback.

Comes with car kit that has 10 buttons that let you save up to 30 presets.

You can schedule 6 hour recording blocks, and schedule more than 100 shows in advance. --- This is good for me, because Jimmy Buffett does some of his concerts live on Sirius, so I can schedule the time slot and record one! or record a football game (Sirius has the NFL and also college football -- also NHL, for Zoner)

----------

I tried to preorder one - but I was too late. They have taken so many preorders that they had to stop taking orders. Dagnabit!

Zoner 09-15-2006 12:17 PM

rock:

I've been threatening to get into satellite radio for a while now.

Colonel 09-15-2006 12:21 PM

Sirius is now available in Canada. beer:

Dunno why ms are even getting into the mp3 market, to say theyre a bit late to the party is an understatement. Id say its gonna be pretty hard if not impossible to shake apples hold on the market.

Apples stake as the MP3 Giant is already at stake. Sales are down, and their revamped line added larger size and longer battery life. Great and all, but they arent making low-budget alternatives that arent shit (SHUFFLE). So at this point, anyone who WANTED an iPod - likely has it. They havent offered anything for current users to upgrade with.

This isnt to say MS is going to knock APPLE off, because quite honestly that player looks like shit. As soon as I sell my iPod - Im going to see about getting a GIGABEAT.

The Nano is flash-based - therefore faster, and longer battery lasting - and has a smaller form-factor.

IPOD 4 lyfe...though i like having my ipod mini over the nano...the nano is just too small.

Vance 09-15-2006 11:14 PM

lol@ microsoft's never-ending crusade to copy everything apple has done and put a different name on it.

Doctor Duffy 09-16-2006 01:07 AM

It could have better tech, but apple still sells the image.

Eames 09-16-2006 09:38 AM

i think it will be better than the ipod because microsoft will probably somehow make it work with all of its products, would be pretty sweet to be able to plug it into my 360 or something.

Sounds awesome, + sat radio = great qaulity.
