Zoner's band will be called...

Rocket Lounge

Yes, I know. We didn't use any suggestions from here, but for what it's worth it did come down between that and Temple Grove.

Here's a preliminary set list of tunes we're currently working on:

The Beatles - Hard Days Night
Tommy Tutone - Jenny Jenny (867-5309)
Tom Petty - Won't Back Down
Aerosmith - Chip Away At The Stone
The Yardbirds - Heart Full of Soul
Kings of Leon - Molly's Chambers
Staggered Crossing - Further Again
Kiss - 2000 Man
Gin Blossoms - Hey Jealousy
AC/DC - The Jack
Weezer - Island in the Sun
Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
Muddy Waters - Hoochie Coochie Man
Stone Temple Pilots - Plush
Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated
The Breeders - Cannonball
Kyuss - Allen's Wrench
Queens of the Stone Age - Little Sister
Soundgarden - Spoonman

Rocket Lounge - Hanging Around (Original)
Rocket Lounge - Cotton Candy (Original)
Rocket Lounge - The Smile (Original)
Rocket Lounge - Just Go (Original)

You might notice some tunes in there that may not be ones you'd think of when you think of good driving rock music, but we're arranging some tunes differently; putting our own spin on them.

Hard Day's Night, in particular, is sounding heavy as shit. rock:

CoMaToSe 10-20-2006 09:10 AM

post mp3s when done rock:

The Ramones - I wanna be sedated

Zoner, you better be doing vocals on that song. Sing in a grunge fashion ahaha

We might add "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" done by The Headstones (originally the Travelling Wilburys).

Good tune.

Pyro 10-20-2006 01:04 PM

Hard Day's night is fine the way it is.

Muddy Waters - Hoochie Coochie Man
beer:

Zoner 10-20-2006 01:09 PM

It's not a drastic change to HD'sN, but it's a little heavier. It's one of those songs that needs changing as every band plays it.

It'll be recognizable, just different.

Hoochie Coochie Man = 1337 rock:

Proteus 10-20-2006 02:09 PM

Temple Grove? I've been calling it Temple Groove this whole time.

Zoner 10-20-2006 02:37 PM

biggrin:

The guys thought "Temple" sounded too religious. Fookin' heathens...heh

thnx

Jakke 10-21-2006 05:05 PM

you play bass right?

The Haunted - 99

heavy song, you might like it, Zoner

Zoner 10-23-2006 07:32 AM

We're doing covers because the reality is you need to play covers to get gigs. Bars around here aren't going to hire you if you're doing 100% original material. It just doesn't happen.

We're planning on working originals too and will worm a couple into the set list

Mr.Buttocks 10-23-2006 08:05 AM

When can we download rocketlounge.mp3?

Zoner 10-23-2006 08:23 AM

Won't be for a few months, I wouldn't say. We gotta get the tunes together and tighten up as a band. That's coming along nicely, but it's not quite there yet.

Mr.Buttocks 10-23-2006 10:13 AM

Do you play bass in your underpants like that fool from the vastly overrated, and exceedingly shit, Red Hot Chili Peppers?

Flea > Life

Also, he was in The Big Lebowski

Sgt>Stackem 10-23-2006 11:17 AM

you should add some Boy George!

"Do you really want to hurt me"

thats not really true, i have friends in many bands that have played ottawa lots of times, including Sailboats Are White at Zaphods etc...

Zoner 10-24-2006 07:08 AM

The Covers Theory isn't 100% true, no. We're just getting our feet wet, getting established. Once/If we make a name for ourselves, we can bust out more originals.

I'm not saying it's impossible to get gigs doing all original material, but it's a lot harder sell and closes a lot of doors for gigs that just need a house band to provide party music.

People generally like what they know until they get to know your band.
