They never returned. A few minutes before Saturday's sunset, somewhere on the Gold Coast, James called a hotel clerk to confirm their reservations at a small inn. The innkeeper expected to see them before midnight, after they passed through the coastal range via Highway 38. That road would have eventually brought James to US 101 and then, over the Golden Gate on Sunday. But investigators believe that James and family never made it out of the mountainous pass. Weather reports say it was raining last Saturday, and in the nearby low lying town of Eugene, it would dip to 35 degrees -- roads could have been frosty up in the hills. As of 9am this morning, investigators are searching looking for any trace of the family, or their silver Saab. The car has the license plate "DoeSF," the name of the boutique clothing store Kati and James own together on SF's Lower Haight.[/quote:50c41] Hope him and his family do show up, loney: |

I used to live where the article meant he was driving, now I'm not sure if it's exactly what I'm thinking of, but the mountainous pass couldnt be anything other than marin point... those roads were fucking lethal (but beautiful too, I hate colorado) , I was always afraid we would fall off

These are the roads I was talking about... everyday we'd spend atleast half an hour going to and from home just twisting and turning in these roads. Beautiful views (I love California, and not this southern california laguna beach oc crap, but real California far outside long beach), but I was pretty fucking scared at times (being 5) that we'd slip right off. |
So whats the deal? Those people found or not?

There's nothing "bad". It's not like they're notorious... I just found the article interesting b/c I used to live there.
That picture is probably the best I could find though, much of the mountains dont have blockades to keep you from falling off, and when you're going downhill at nighttime where the roads will turn totally out the blue it can get pretty scary. |
the wife and 3 kids have been found alive! the dad is still missing though (kim). he went out on search for help.

I really hope they find him, I didnt read anywhere what happened to them to begin with.

it doesn't seem too positive. Things get really cold at night and obviously he's spending more and more time without food and water. cry:

holy crap, I saw something about this story a while ago, but it wasn't until now that I realized it was the gadget guy from TechTV...
I hope they find him, it would really suck if he died going for help to save his family when he could have been rescued with them if he had just stayed put...tragic irony |

I just saw the story about an hour ago and hadnt found him loney: loney: |
whats worse is him not knowing his family is safe, his last thoughts as he froze to death were probably thinking his family were going to suffer the same.
bless his family. |
damn
|
Suprised they never took a cell phone with them in case of emergencies. loney:

they had phones , no service out where they were however, it left small traces of area though through their attempts to use it and they were able to locate the general region where the calls were attempted. |
