venting...

Ok, so I need some "help"....or maybe just justification of my feelings, whatever.

So basically my friend IMed me the other night telling me that my band has basically started a new band, which is my band minus me.....so he really is telling me that they are kicking me out and they are changing the name of the band....these guys are my best friends and i hang out with them every day...the reasons they gave me was that im always down here in VA, which is a good reason, and also that we didnt click musically, which is bullshit because im better than the other guitarist anyway. we started the band to have fun, not to be a real serious band.

so right now i feel a bit bummed. i mean, my band wasnt going anywhere, its been dead for a while, but it still sucks knowing they are moving on without me...and the fact that they werent going to tell me, but my friend ben was guilted into telling me...i know when i go home, im going to see them constantly, and i might be there while they practice. i just feel a bit betrayed, cuz this shit always happens to me and never to one of them. i understand the whole distance thing, thats fine, but i cant help but feel a bit upset about the whole thing.

maybe im taking it to personally? maybe i have a right to be upset? i dunno, i wanted to hear some of your thoughts, hear things from another perspective. im really not in the mood to hear obnoxious spam...

owned.

start a new band.

STRAIGHTEDGE FO LIFE

well if they want to jam often or with like within an hours notice it is a bit hard to if you would be so far away so maybe if they have some aspirations then they followed on with it. Otherwise than the behind your back thing thats probaly because its one of those things people would have a problem admitting/telling a friend. Will be sour when you get back and you are not "part" of the new band , but to be honest worse things could happen.

good advice.

Milla 02-28-2007 07:57 PM

If they make it to the big time, you may just want to end your life immediately.

definitely true, but i cant help but feel a bit bummed about it. thats really the perfect way to describe it, just bummed. nothing to cry over, nothing to end the friendships over, just something to get me down for a bit.

i feel better already. ahahaha.

strvs 02-28-2007 08:00 PM

well.. just because you're a better guitarist doesn't exactly mean you're better suited for the band, its perfectly reasonable if your musical tastes/aspirations are not on the same level as the band, plus the distance thing is also understandable.. that or they're just dickfaces

Whatada 02-28-2007 08:16 PM

draw faces on plastic cups and jam in your basement with them.

you wont notice that they even left.

you're syd barret minus the drugs and their pink floyd minus the good.

Start a new band with the guys from ratm minus zach delaroca and call yourself audioslave minus the slave and you guys will be awesome.

Probably the best decision for ALL parties. As you said, you started the band for fun; they perhaps have different motivations now.

Think on it this way - how old are you folks? You cant expect these guys to do it the "right way" - theyre men - just like you. . .how many shitty decisions have you made and not followed through the right way?

Dont let this ruin your friendship, unless theyre suckas anyway.

they are my best friends. im just upset they would do that...

Milla 02-28-2007 08:38 PM

It is a pretty dick thing to do. But you cant easily break up a band made of friends, somewhere along the lines something bad will happen. Than again you do live away from them...

Johnj 02-28-2007 08:39 PM

Wish your buddies good luck and mean it.

Short Hand 02-28-2007 09:18 PM

go solo like John Mayer and fuck dem nigs.

i fucking LOL

c312 02-28-2007 09:41 PM

That sucks man, but if you think about it, it's probably in their best interest. I mean, as you said, you are away from them for the majority of the year. It seems pretty impractical to me, but at the same time, I can completely understand why it's such a huge "bummer."

jujumantb 02-28-2007 10:35 PM

go on a drinking binge... that'll show 'em

Miscguy 02-28-2007 10:37 PM

Go listen to linkin park in a dark room and cry yourself to sleep. "its always me, never one of them.... boo hoo wahh wahh". Perhaps its you and not them because there not hundreds of miles away... Hmmmm. You wernt even in the band, because you were never there, you cut yourself out of it. They wernt going to tell you because theres nothing to tell. You were in the band about as much as that scary groupy chick at that dank bar who was always to drunk and hitting on anything that moved.

Now that... Thats venting.

or we ALL go to different colleges and the only one that actually lives at home is the bassist...

Miscguy 02-28-2007 10:43 PM

I stand by my go cry in a corner statments. Although someone did suggest a drinking binge, i also fully support that option.

eeves 02-28-2007 11:38 PM

Ask them why? or go get drunk...and get over it.

Zoner 03-01-2007 06:48 AM

That is relatively shitty of them. I mean, if it's not working out with you, then so be it, but they at least owe you the courtesy of telling you to your face.

Post an ad locally and I'm sure you'll find others to jam with. Hey, once the other guys have played around without you, they might realize that you WERE the better guitar player and want you back.

You never know.
