Chris Benoit and family found dead

http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/benoitdead

[quote:689b6]World Wrestling Entertainment is deeply saddened to report that today Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home. There are no further details at this time, other than the Benoit family residence is currently being investigated by local authorities.

Tonight’s Raw on USA Network will serve as a tribute to Chris Benoit and his family. WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family’s relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy.[/quote:689b6]

:( one of the more respectable guys in the business, and fellow canadian.

Short Hand 06-25-2007 04:50 PM

Wow, out of left field wtf..

[DAS REICH] Blitz 06-25-2007 05:03 PM

wow, incredibly shocking.... RIP Canadian Crippler... I honestly can not believe this

Bucknub 06-25-2007 05:06 PM

holy shit. everyone is fucking dying from the WWE.

even though I stopped watching wrestling a long time ago, id probably cry if Stone Cold died. he'll always be #1. he such a good guy out of the ring.

but damn, Big names keep dying off from that.. Eddy Guererro and and now this guys. sucks

geRV 06-25-2007 05:08 PM

Jesus Christ eek:

I was watching the PPV last night and he was meant to be in a match against C-M Punk but they said he wasn't attending the event due to family problems. Im literally in shock reading this.

Mr.Buttocks 06-25-2007 05:29 PM

That's a shame.

elstatec 06-25-2007 05:30 PM

shit man, all found dead? quite suspicious. never watch wrestling for years but remember him being one of the old 4 horseman.

geRV 06-25-2007 05:31 PM

Think raw starts early tonight (1am), 3 hour tribute show now.

Whatada 06-25-2007 05:32 PM

I would think it was a gas leak or something like that.

R.I.P

elstatec 06-25-2007 05:59 PM

found this on wiki

[quote:ace61]PW Headlines stated that Benoit called in to WWE Sunday and said he would be unable to make it back as his family was ill and they were spitting up blood[/quote:ace61]

Tripper 06-25-2007 06:04 PM

weird circumstances - i remember him from the wrestling games, r.i.p

Chronic Diarrhea 06-25-2007 06:23 PM

What's weird, they were supposed to be doing some bullshit Vince McMahon investigation special tonight (he died in the storylines).

I don't watch wrestling anymore but Benoit was hardcore. He was one of the few guys I actually liked when WWE bought out WCW and the WCW guys came over to WWE (then WWF) TV.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 06-25-2007 09:22 PM

ok... this doesn't seem right now

Ugh. Even on the WWE site.

[quote:016ab]It has been ruled that the deaths of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and their son Daniel earlier today were the result of a double murder-suicide from within the home. WWE.com will have more as soon as it becomes available.[/quote:016ab]

Terrible :(

[DAS REICH] Blitz 06-25-2007 09:48 PM

I watched the tribute show to Benoit tonight on RAW. In the middle of the show, they asked William Regal to make a tribute to his friend. He basically said that he was going to originally talk about Benoit the family man/good friend, but then he said that he wouldn't any more. Instead, Regal just stated that Benoit was a great wrestler, nothing more.

I guess the worst did happen, which doesn't make sense because everyone before Regal talked about how much he cared about his family.

TonyMontana 06-25-2007 09:51 PM

[quote:1850e]FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife, and son were found dead Monday and police said they were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

Detective Bo Turner told television station WAGA that the case was being treated as a murder-suicide, but said that couldn't be confirmed until evidence was examined by a crime lab.

The station said that investigators believe the 40-year-old Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, and 7-year-old son, Daniel, over the weekend, then himself on Monday. A neighbor called police, and the bodies were found in three rooms.[/quote:1850e]

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070626/ap_ ... stler_dead

That is really terrible. Imagine how his 2 other kids in Canada are going to have to live with this tragedy.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 06-25-2007 09:59 PM

The problem with the murder-suicide theory is that it doesn't follow what his friends say about him. Yeah, on TV, he played that quiet, maniacal wrestler who showed no emotion in the ring. But outside of it, whether it be locker-room interaction or talking with fans, people said that he was genuinely a good guy and loved the business and defended his friends.

Even when he won the belt, he started crying and allowed his kids to come into the ring with him, which seems like the total opposite of what these reports say and seem identical to what everyone who knew him paints him as.

Coleman 06-25-2007 10:02 PM

toxicology report? I dunno. maybe he was on something?

Sgt. Paine 06-25-2007 10:05 PM

I bet they came down with a sickness of some sort.

Eight Ace 06-25-2007 10:25 PM

roid rage perhaps.

TonyMontana 06-25-2007 10:25 PM

[quote:6faf3]There were no signs of gunshot wounds or stabbing, according to Pope. Authorities are not ruling out other causes, such as poisoning, suffocation or strangulation. Pope told ABC News that his department is looking at this situation as a "possible double murder, suicide."

Pope said "the instruments of death were located on scene," but he would not specify what those instruments are or where in the house the bodies were found. Pope added the department is "not actively searching for any suspects outside of the house."[/quote:6faf3]

Chronic Diarrhea 06-25-2007 10:29 PM

If it was a double murder-suicide, could it have been the wife who did the murders? Perhaps she lured him back home, and then killed him, his child, and then herself?

Sgt. Paine 06-25-2007 10:31 PM

well no gunshot wounds or stab wounds? maybe poison over a period of time.

Bucknub 06-25-2007 10:39 PM

IT'S STILL REAL TO ME DAMNIT!

Bucknub 06-25-2007 10:44 PM

gerv, i need your help.

whatever happened to:

Kurt Angle
Brock Lesner
RVD
The Rock
The Big Show
Goldberg

so many familier faces I dont see anymore when I scroll through my channels and catch a glimps of WWE

Chronic Diarrhea 06-25-2007 10:56 PM

Kurt Angle: dunno, I think he just retired because of injuries and personal problems. People actually thought Angle was getting close to suicide because of all his personal problems (wife divorced him, all his injuries, painkiller use, etc)

Brock Lesnar: He quit wrestling to try out for the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL. He made the team, but was cut in mini-camp. I think he went to wrestle in Japan. Or he could be jacking off into some shrubbery as we speak. idk.

RVD: dunno. I think he got in trouble for drugs.

The Rock: Easy enough, he left wrestling to make movies. He's never coming back to wrestling. He left WWE years ago.

Big Show: dunno. He's probably got health problems

Goldberg: I think he quit WWE after a year. I think he was going to wrestle in Japan. He's probably jacking off into the shrubbery with Brock.

Bucknub 06-25-2007 11:09 PM

thanks gerv lol

Angle left wwe and went to tna.

Lesnar got burned out after a while and went to go play american football, got nowhere with that and is now in japan wrestling.

Van Dam afaik didn't renew his contract and is meant to be showing up in tna soon.

Rock is too busy in hollywood to bother with wrstling much anymore.

Big show took time off to let some injuries heal and drop some weight, he let his contract expire and hasn't bothered resigning with any company.

Goldberg only worked with wwe for a year, didnt resign as he felt they were messing with his character too much.

[quote:583f8]According to lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned.
Benoit failed to appear both at Saturday’s live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWE’s Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family.
Authorities representing the Sheriff’s Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit’s new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m.
At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.
WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.
The three bodies have been received by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab, in Decatur, Ga., where autopsies will be performed Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not become available for at least two weeks.
WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time.

maybe thats why regal did not say anything? because he heard of the murder suicide? kinda makes wwf look stupid for dedicating a 3 hour show to a murderer

geRV 06-26-2007 07:39 AM

Well we still don't know what happened, initial reports are suggesting murder\suicide but they could very well find something in the house to make them think otherwise. Probably won't know the full story for a few weeks.

TGB! 06-26-2007 07:41 AM

They had no other choice. At the time they didn't know what happened, and you honestly couldn't go forward with original programming when one of your current marquee names, a legend in the business has been found dead.

As far as they knew, it was harmless poisoning. Then word does come down, and bam - you're in the middle of your show.

Said something like "normally id be happy to sit here and talk about Chris Benoit all day" (or somethng along those lines). Then just went on to say how good he was in the ring etc.

TGB! 06-26-2007 09:55 AM

The thing is, his wife was part of the business as well, and managed SEVERAL other wrestlers (Ric Flair, Kevin Sullivan, etc.) - this isn't all over yet.

geRV 06-26-2007 10:13 AM

[quote:915a5]Wade Keller's Audio Summary from PWTorch.com:

-He said it is being reported he suffocated his wife and son, perhaps a day apart. And then hung himself. Late Sunday night, he sent a strange text message to a person within the WWE. The police broke into the house at 2:30 pm today and found them in separate rooms.

-Vince called all the wrestlers backstage this afternoon for an emergency meeting. Wrestler were already bawling and crying. A longtime WWE wrestler said it was the most emotional state he's ever seen the wrestlers.

-There was a really uneasy feeling Sunday. Everybody felt something was wrong.

-One wrestler said "It was bound to happen". There was a strong suspicion backstage that Benoit did this right away. There was also a suspicion that Nancy had done it. They had a volatile relationship and everyone knew it.

-Hardly anybody backstage really knew Benoit. He had a very small inner circle that one time included Eddy Guerrero and recently included Chavo Guerrero. But even they had a certain psychological distance from Benoit. Everyone could tell that something wasn't right lately with Benoit.

-He said that he was a very nice and pleasant person to be around, but a person close to Benoit said that Chris had "snap potential".

-A lot of steroids were found in the Benoit household, and Benoit has had bouts with "roid rages". WWE may suffer publicly because of their unenforced "Wellness Policy". [/quote:915a5]
