ipod touch/iphone price reduction
http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=6126
well..here goes something else im gonna be saving for this yr/next. thing is tight |
Are you going to buy the iPhone or the iPod? I might get a new iPod, only because mine is fucking up.
[quote:824b1]Jobs also announced a deal with Starbucks. When you enter a Starbucks with your iPod touch or iPhone, a Starbucks button pops up that gives you the option to buy music from the featured artist via the wireless connectivity.[/quote:824b1] Great..... |
Wow very innovative, just take the iPhone, take the phone out of it and you have an iPod...way to go Jobs, you fucking twat.
[quote:2f143]IPod Touch will be available by month's end in an eight-gigabyte model priced at 299 dollars and a 16-gigabyte model priced at 399 dollars. The devices are essentially iPhones without the mobile phone capabilities.[/quote:2f143] Those prices are out of fucking control, that is ridiculous. |
getting the ipod snipey. never saw the need to combine music and phone capabilities. But music and internet is whats up
|
The only back draw about the new iPod is that the screen is glass, which makes it easy to break...but hey it wont scratch! If I can check my e-mail and listen to music on a hand held piece of machinery...life would be good.

As for the prices, thats the usual apple premium you pay for something that should cost half of what it does. |
iMacintosh ftw

fuck the new ipod. it was once an awesome mp3 player but now it's just shit. so many extra features that no one really gives a shit about yet they are shoved into your face. ooooo, i can use wifi to browse "what's hot", yeah can't wait for that oOo: . the touch screen is a novelty item that will wear off and become an annoyance. prices are bullshit also. |

How is the price out of control? It's a flash player with a touch screen. If you dont want the flash player or a touch screen, pay 50 dollars less for the HDD based version which gives you 80/160Gigs respectively.
I personally wouldn't mind an iPod with the ability to double as a gimped PDA in case I want to dick around in class or to kill time in an airport or whereever else I can wirelessly connect. The iPod Touch is for those folks who have been clamoring for a full on touchscreen iPod for years, and for those who wanted a flash based player instead of a HDD based one. If you like HDD - fine, you still have the option to buy that and JOB's hasn't phased it out. Really the only people who should be pissed are those who bought an iPhone 15 days ago. I'm personally probably gonna snag a 4Gig iPhone to replace my current phone once iPhoneSIMfree has a working list of its bulk resellers. Oh and yea, the internet ability of the touch isn't great. You can't wirelessly access iTunes so that whole usefullness is pretty much nonexistant. |
quit spending your money on stupid shit

Whats gay is the iPhone cannot be used with Verizon Wireless, AT&T is such a shit company its amazing how they got the rights to it. T-Mobile is no better, there Customer service is top notch, their cell service is terrible unless you live in major cities.
|
I'm sure a majority of it has to deal with the network that APPLE wanted to use. With the SIM-Unlock service being offered, I'm sure its a matter of time before DIY SIM-Unlock kits are out there for end-user purchase; sadly that means you still will only be able to use it on AT&T and T-Mobile in the US, but for many that's enough. T-Mobile's prepair service is infinitely better than AT&T so once some lucky guy gets ahold of the unlock software, I'll be grabbing an affordable iPhone to use on T's service.

the price is ridiculous.
wouldnt want that as a phone as id trash it in 5 seconds with the heavy drinking nights. my solid sony k750i and my zune do there jobs respectively. |

I would buy the ipod touch if they put a hd in it. 16 gigs to hold music and movies? my music library alone is 20 gigs.
my dad fucking owns.[quote:ff4e1]This iPod is for girls that want a few tunes to listen too. Serious listeners require big GIG's or a butler that can load just what you want to listen to each day on your little touch screen widget. When you get down to it, the touch screen is just an effect. I don't have a problem scrolling if I can get the juice. Now the Nano Phone makes some sense. I really don't want movies, iTunes, etc on my phone. Unfortunately, I do want web browser and e-mail. Apple is really getting into the special effects and gimmicks. It will probably serve them well. THey will see millions to the same people that watch Friends reruns and follow Paris Hilton and Britney around. Now if they could add a direct touch screen pipeline to GOD they could get all the people that voted for Bush. That's 51% of the population. Just come up with a Magic 8 Ball kind of deal but with special effects they would believe Apple had a broadband connection to JeeBez himself! They need me on their team. When they get a phone that lets you make calls on all bands, browse the Internet and get e-mail for a reasonable price I am in. All this other stuff is just a journey to the real product and I don't need to take the trip.[/quote:ff4e1] |

The thing with the touch is, that its to satisfy those who DEMAND flash-based "high capacity" device, but also want the snazziness of the iPhone and it's features. Is 8GIG alot. Of course not, but somehow we made do when the limit was 10GIG's on the first gen iPods.
Most peoples complaints is "oh god I have way more music than that" - of course you do. Go buy the cheaper 80 and 160GIG HD based iPod. Could they have put the functionality of the Touch on the Classic line, sure - but really they are a bidness, there has to be some class distinction between the two models and the touchscreen and wi-fi capability of the Touch is the perfect "break point" for it. |
So the HD based ones arent touch screen? lol
