Milla 10-06-2007 10:03 AM

Fucking sweet!

To bad my computer will run it like shit...i wish the 360 version of the demo gets released soon

wintersforge 10-06-2007 10:12 AM

hopefully this game will be good...MOHA was a bust. ET:QW is ok but not the BF2 killer it was thought to be. some maps are unbalanced as hell....

Bean 2 10-06-2007 11:20 AM

cant wait for this. this is the game im most looking forward to this year. Crysis let me down.

geRV 10-06-2007 11:22 AM

Im dubious about it, if its the same on rails script bs as the last few games then its got virtually no replay value. Crysis...well weve to wait till the end of this month for the sp demo =/

Miscguy 10-06-2007 01:06 PM

Not holding my breath, as always. I warned you about Airborne when everyone had a boner for it. I've warned about pretty much every game thats come out actually. Except ETQW, which i thought would be good... up until the beta, then i said it would fail. I see Cod 4 being no differant, i expect it to be as scripted and "walk this line to kill this guy" as any of the others in the series. It will have 0, count it ZERO, replay value for the SP. Mp will be fun, for about a week.

Bean 2 10-06-2007 01:20 PM

BLASPHEMY!! Bite your tongue sir! I knew Airbone would suck, but i have great faith in this game.

You warned who about airborne? I wasn't expecting an amazing mp because nomatter what too many comparisons would be drawn to allied assault, airborne's still a good game for the single player.

Also if you cast doom and gloom on "pretty much every game thats come out" you're bound to be right occasionally. Which is about as accurate as saying "someone might win the lottery this week", and saying you were right if someone did win it.

elstatec 10-07-2007 09:50 AM

cod4 mp was good on the beta, good and plain and simple, maybe not the most polished gfx but its got the solid engine of cod.

rudedog 10-07-2007 10:06 AM

You guys really need to read the rest of the board :D, I posted this the other day in the CoD section LOL.

I've seen the PC MP in action while at IW, however i did not get to actually play it but after sitting down and talking to Grant Collier I think this game is going to rock.

However I do really wish the game was set in WWII.

Now stop posting this shit in off topic and post in the correct section, ok very tired. What was I thinking, taking a 6:15am flight to Memphis?

I say "pretty much" because i actually specify which game will blow donkey nuts, and dont comment on others, typically due to a personal lack of interest in the game. Therefore with such a narrowed down and specific target such as Airborne, of course im not going to "cast" a blanket statment to all games.

I only cast my doom and gloom at specific targets selected because i might actually have an interest in the game. its just a common accrance that in my time pre release with a game i find out it sucks Germ cock.

It's pretty cool they're breaking away from WW2. I mean I love WW2 shooters, but let's be honest, you can only do so much. Would be intresting to see what they do with a futuristic type shooter, since there's really no holds bar on weapons and storyline. You know it'd be somewhat nice to see a FPS WW2 shooter from the German or Japanese aspect for single player.

for the 2903891239293th time, it'll never happen. lawsuits, complaints, the inability to be sold in former axis countries. etc.

It would be cool, but no producers would have the balls to do it.

dr nein 10-08-2007 08:52 PM

They would all speak in English and have crappy movie accents anyway.

rudedog 10-08-2007 09:28 PM

I just posted more info in this thread.

New screen shots, info and video.

Looking good, just hope its not a direct dumbed down for console pc port over that we get. And heres hoping the multi on the pc requires more than just spamming grenades like call of duty 2.

rudedog 10-09-2007 08:07 AM

What I saw at IW over the summer was very impressive. Not only the game play but what they have done with the Q3 engine.

I really wish they would release a video of a lighting and environmental demo they showed us in real time.

While I have tremendous respect for the IW devs now (after spending the day with them) they "get it".

However with all that said, and a SP only demo coming out, I have to say "WTF". If anything EA and Airborne taught us :

If a dev does not release any info and or a demo on the platform (sp/mp not gaming) we are interested in, wait before preordering or purchasing.

geRV 10-09-2007 08:31 AM

Iw though had more than their fair share of criticisms with cod 2, that game was heavily consolised and the initial patch took ages in coming out.

Suprised theyre still using a modded quake 3 engine for this though, thought they would have moved on to something else like UE3 by now.

rudedog 10-09-2007 08:42 AM

Wait to you see what they've done with with the old engine.

funny, IW does not like talking about CoD2, which they where forced to make, as they wanted to do, what now is known as CoD4.

don't even mention CoD3 in front of grant or the rest of the dev team. Lets just say they don't care too much for that game.

This was the most satisfying demo i ever played, the graphics are phenomenal, it runs great, there is so much action its awesome, its an excellt game and defiantly on my need to get list. I suggest everyone DL it

geRV 10-11-2007 08:16 PM

After playing airborne it did feel a bit restricted i thought. You're funnelled down the same path everytime with the same scripted sequences every time. That guy jumping out in the stairway for example, its a nice touch but after seeing it once you know exactly what to expect next time.

Its nice to see they have ragdoll and more moveable objects in the environment though, cod2 felt very static in that respect. I hope for multi that the guns have more recoil than the sp, if not theres not gonna be much need for sniper rifles. Seen some people already comparing it to serious sam with the massive horde of enemies that comes at you in that level.

Suprising to think this is the same modified quake 3 engine though. Just hope that because of the engine its not open to the same bs wallhacks etc that cod2 was.

A multiplayer demo would probably have been a better demo type to release, right now im not bowled over by the sp but the multi could be good.

ninty 10-11-2007 09:24 PM

Demo was alright. Looked good. It is short, but the main problem I have is with weapon recoil and accuracy. Just seems too easy. And every shot sounds kind of insignificant. A little thud. Nothing more. Beef it up a bit.

Now that I think about it more, it feels more like every other CoD game i've played. Gerv is right. It's very linear. I thought we were supposed to be getting away from those types of scripted games.

I'll buy it, but it'll probably end up like Airborne. Played it through once and haven't touched it since because it's the same every time you go through it. Hopefully MP has something to offer, but i'm not a huge MP guy. I prefer SP to tell you the truth.

geRV 10-11-2007 10:12 PM

Yeah the weapons did sound pretty weak, kinda reminded me of halo 3 and the fisher price sounding guns. Quakewars also started out with weak firing sounds but that was beta months before release so there was time to change them. This close to release id say this games already off being duplicated and packaged.

Milla 10-12-2007 12:55 AM

h8ers, sounds were good, at least the M4/ M16 sounds like an M4/M16, yeah it could be louder. But its nonetheless a fun game from what i see. About time its something other than WW2.

ww2 > your face biotch

mr.miyagi 10-12-2007 08:44 AM

I was pretty unimpressed with the gameplay.

Yes, the graphics are nice, it seems action packed but I just feel like I'm being pushed down an alleyway whilst being told what buttons to press.

I liked the character/model movement though, seemed realistic.......

Overall - uninstalled :/

Bean 2 10-12-2007 12:27 PM

I was entertained. Despite being lead down a predetermined path, I thought the battles were intense, the sounds were amazing, and overall it was a pretty cool experience. I will definitely be getting this game.

Milla 10-12-2007 11:41 PM

Yup exactly, CoD series is usually known for its intense battles. The one battle was hard as shit, just before you got to where you have to get the Javelin and blow up the tanks, when you are pinned in that house, that battle is pretty intense.

wintersforge 10-12-2007 11:51 PM

give me a MP demo. SP doesnt do it for meeeeeeee. was effortless although i applaud their purely creative efforts!

Gonzo 10-13-2007 05:27 PM

that demo is fucking nuts

strvs 10-13-2007 06:04 PM

pretty good.. thought it doesnt really seem to innovate at all with the gameplay, just a different setting

Tystnad 10-13-2007 06:07 PM

Finally got around to get it, and after finishing the demo a couple times, I went ahead and preordered it.
