Finals?

So I know we have a lot of college guys here, how'd everybody's finals go?

I had one of the shittiest finals schedules I've ever had... 2 days 4 finals with 7:45am's both days... plus my girlfriends whorebag roommate who finished early invites a friend from back home over and they are loud as shit all night. not one of my better semesters but only 1 more to go!

Coleman 12-21-2007 02:17 PM

don't complain about finals mister! ;-)

I had 9. Monday morning starting at 8am, i had three back to back till 2:30. That was a bitch. My anus still is hurting from the rapeage.

Sniper101 12-21-2007 03:28 PM

5 finals, 1 was a take home and 4 others. 1 monday morning 1 wednesday morning 1 thursday morning 1 today @ 11
mon and wed were at 9am thurs @ 8am
the take home was a bitch 8 fucking pages of essays

Jotun 12-21-2007 03:46 PM

I'm done with finals, but my schedule was Wednesday 8 AM and then 10:30, Thursday 8AM and then 10:30. So both days back to back, it sucked. I passed all my classes, and somehow pulled a B in organic chemistry. woooo.

RaNgeR 12-21-2007 05:22 PM

I finished last week...I had Mon, tues, thurs, and fri. I got home late friday night..I thought I was getting almost all As this semester but participation KILLED me. Dropped most of my grades down to a B.

Coleman 12-21-2007 05:29 PM

participation or attendance?

Unknown_Sniper 12-21-2007 07:44 PM

I had two finals(yay for being a TV major) One in a math class the other in a regulation and law class. Both were a lot easier than I thought they would be.
We were offered 2 choices for the math final. A 6 question take home that was difficult, or an easier in class. I didn't get the take home finished to I went to the in class. Only 4 people out of 20+ showed up for the in class and the teacher wrote down all the equations we would need and made it easy. Then told us to only do 3 questions.

and you're in college? fuck off. get a major that actually matters.

Unknown_Sniper 12-22-2007 12:23 AM

I'm a News broadcast and production major. We don't get homework, instead we get 5 days a week up to 13 hours a day at a news station to produce a live nightly news broadcast(we are 1 out of 5 schools in the nation that do nightlies). There have even been a few instances where I am at the station for 18 hours out of a 24 hour period of time. We are there even when other classes are being canceled because of snow.
Our station broadcasts to tens of thousands of local residents and is ranked higher than other stations in Vermont such as Fox.
We are expected to be perfect and when we are not we get our asses chewed out by the department head.
We run the station without much help from our professors. Next semester I expect to be directing news shows and with all luck I will be sending at least one of them in for review to possibly win an Emmy.
In other words fuck off with your pussy ass papers and tests.

im a biology major, try research, labs, and organic chemistry.

Unknown_Sniper 12-22-2007 01:37 AM

Research, labs, and organic chem....
Honestly, I wont lie. Thats not my cup of tea. Keep in mind though that each of our majors are different. You have your head buried in books and stats and all other sort of boring info. doing work that most likely has already been done. I have my eye glued to a viewfinder, most likely out in below freezing temps as it seems it's always winter in northern Vermont. I enjoy going outside, meeting different people and getting some amazing shots.
And don't be fooled for one second. Just because we don't do labs, or have to write a 50 page thesis, doesn't mean we work less than anyone else.

Jotun 12-22-2007 08:47 AM

i just hate it when people dont have finals or take bs classes. i know someone who is an elementary education major, and she takes classes like "The Fundamentals of Adding and Subtracting" and "The Fundamentals of Multiplying and Dividing." As much as I respect teachers, we learned that shit in high school, why the hell are you paying 20k+ to be able to teach 8 year olds? if you are in college, you should learn things you could only learn in college. and im stuck taking two semesters of a 300 level chemistry class as a biology major that is required. its used as a weed out class for bio majors which i find complete bullshit, but whatever.

a good friend of mine was a tv production major, she is now working at a local tv station for a little more than minimum wage. she hates it. its a tough field to find a good job.

I believe they HAVE to go to college to teach 8 year olds. Notice how all your past and present teachers have had degrees?? Its kinda how these things work.

Im a Crim Justice major and I only had 2 finals :fu:

or people can do what they like and you can respect them for that. Not everyone is gonna be a doctor and a lawyer. I dont care if someone is a pre-med or a cinema major, they are hopefully doing what their heart is into. Some people get awesome tattoos, others get Jersey Wave tattoos, its kind of the same thing.

Coleman 12-22-2007 10:32 AM

Jotun, just remember, there is always someone out there that has it worse than you....

so it IS true that all science majors think that they're hot shit and come before every other major at any given school.

[DAS REICH] Blitz 12-22-2007 01:18 PM

i dunno know much about music majors except for the fact that coleman has to take 10 classes in one semester, but from what I know about pre-meds, they have to take really hard classes, in addition to the classes most other people take (English, history, etc.).

But instead of getting B's in those other classes, the pre-meds have to do well in them, since getting A's in the regular science classes is practically impossible. In addition, in order to get INTO a med. school, let alone a good one, pre-meds have to achieve at least a 3.5 GPA, on top of taking harder science classes. Couple this with research, labs, and volunteer jobs, the entire process of getting into a med. school is incredibly stressful.

Medicine, unlike some other majors, requires people to do well as you can't get into graduate school without doing extremely well. So, if you get into Princeton and get a 3.1 GPA in their pre-med program, you basically don't have much of a chance of getting into a med school compared with those who went to SuckADick Community College and got a 4.0 GPA.

I'm not saying Medicine is harder than any other major, as each major has its difficulties, but keep in mind there are very few majors that are as competitive in trying to get to the next level.

RaNgeR 12-22-2007 01:29 PM

Yeah...bio/pre-med is a bitch. You should see one of my friends stress out about A test. To him each test determines his future of med school choice and his potential to be a nuerosurgeon. Coleman..participation*. This semester I went to almost every single one of my classes.

:goodjob: I skipped only 2 classes this semester. I was pretty proud of myself considering for every class you skip past 1 "freebie" your grade gets bumped down one FULL letter grade. Fuck that.

Yeah, I will not say my classes are harder or easier than a science major's classes. It's just impossible to compare. I can tell you a little about mine and see what I have experienced.

My friends are engineers and business majors. They stress out majorly for 3 days before a large exam and then party it up for 3 weeks until the next exam. I cannot do that at all. I leave my house every day at 7:30 and don't get back until 8 or 9 at night. I actually pack my lunch bc I'm too poor to buy stuff.

I have straight classes to 7pm usually with 1 hour break. And every single day, I have at least 1 type of assessment (quiz, exam, etc) for my classes. So I can't take a night and just not do anything because the next day I'm getting graded on something. it really gets stressful after a week.

And Blitz you're right, I do take a shitload of courses. They're all 1 and 2 credit classes that meet the same (if not more) than a normal 3 credit course. And for these classes, it requires hours of work outside of the classroom. Example, my piano class. I have to practice atleast 1 hour a day for that for a 1 credit class which has a possibility for a quiz every class period. If I fail piano, I can't move on in my major...there are kids that have been here for 6 years because they fail piano. Sad, but true. I had 12 classes this past semester.

So, i wouldn't necessarily say that my major is harder content from others. I would say that it requires the most time. It also isn't about HOW WELL or HOW MUCH you know about the material; it's about how well you can perform it or teach/convey it to others.

I think every major is hard in its own way (minus elementary ed majors like mentioned before ha). Literature majors may not have a bunch of finals, but I bet it's damn tough for them to find a job that would keep them happy or publish their own material in their future to keep them from eating easy-mac for the rest of their lives.

RaNgeR 12-27-2007 06:16 PM

Got my grades... A, B+,B, C+, C. Im fucking baffled...that C should be a B. and that B should be an A...I emailed my profs earlier today and got one back from my christianity prof. telling me he doesnt discuss grades online, but to come in when the semester talks to discuss the B. MAKES NO SENSE...77 on first exam, 92s on the next 2. I wrote 4 booklets, yes...4, on the final exam and knew my shit. I had 3 freebie days for the course I skipped. I checked knightvision (online gradebook for our school) about psych (the C), and I had a 79.96 in the class...I didnt enjoy it and will take the B for it...not a fucking C that kills my GPA.

Short Hand 12-27-2007 06:33 PM

I can't complain, I graduated last year, currently working for a design firm, and working video shoots and photo shoots @ concerts, weddings and clubs around toronto all year long

Unknown_Sniper 12-27-2007 06:59 PM

79.96 falls in the range of a C+. Not all college profs will bump it that .04 to give you a nice B-.
I walked away with an A in my Practicum, B in my media regulations and law class , B- in my post production class, and a D in math which I was surprised I got considering my no homework/ study policy for that class. Overall a 3.14 GPA. Not too bad.
I don't understand why so many people get pissed about their GPA's. As long as you learn the shit a number doesn't matter.

I agree. I think if you graduate with the degree that's the most important thing. When you go in for a job interview, they're not going to take the dude with .04 gpa points advantage over you right away. Your personality will make the most impact.

rofl, (you should see the built motor coming along in her !) hey man, Its pretty killer !, I was present for the DaRude set for the Unity event @ the Docks/Sound Academy last night, 6500 packed capacity, on stage taking shots :). Did my buddy a favor who is taking Photography @ Humber and got him on stage to take shots with me. :). I am by no means at your level when it comes to photography though, I mainly take filler shots, small editorial stuff for the videos. and As a sign of good business I usually just hand them all over to the client, kind of an add on bonus to our shoots. My main job though is shooting(filming), and spotting for good shots. (basically TnA lol)

Even though the events do not pay well, the perks sure do, Being around the sexiest women in Toronto, VIP, and free drinks to kick ;).

Sniper101 12-27-2007 10:17 PM

most of my friends are music and music ed majors and life is a bitch for them. 6 - 10 classes a semester plus 11 hrs ASDEL (ear training) plus practices, plus recitals, plus attending recitals, plus attending 6 professional performances a semester. and those 6 - 10 classes include theory, lessons, gen eds, performance classes (band, chorale) etc.

Im a psych major, some of the classes can be hard, but work load is very small and i have a lot of free time and still get good grades

KTOG 12-28-2007 02:49 PM

I Fucking Graduated College Nigz!!!!! Woooo!

Pyro 01-01-2008 03:55 PM

I had 2 finals...2 days apart...

I did pretty good
