Pc gaming is dying
|
Your use of the English language is dying.
|
A misspelled word on the Internet? OMG the sky is about to fall.
|
I wish it would die

As usual pyro making the controversial post to try and stir some shit. That was truely a hard one to see coming. |
Consoles should get all the attention...they have waited long enough and it is obvious that it is the best choice now.
|
Quote:
Yeah because no parent knows the names nintendo atari or playstation. Consoles have been mainstream for about 20 years now, they get advertised more than pc's and pc gaming. How do they "just now" deserve all the attention? I take it you dont watch tv, read magazines or in general walk about with your eyes open? Best choice..rofl. Dont bother replying untill you have something to say that doesn't sound like someone with a mental problem just had a brain fart, spurted out some dribble and liked the sound of it. |
so you're saying that paying thousands of dollars to keep upgrading your computers for minimul improvements in graphics every few months is better than having a console for like 4 years that plays all games for it at top quality?
|
Quote:
Nobody has to upgrade anything if they dont want to. Thats why pc games are SCALABLE, you can turn some stuff on or off and maintain good framerates. Aren't you the one with the stiffy for the outdated philosophy that "graphics dont matter"? It wont bother you then would it? Replacing a vid card or cpu by the way doesn't cost "THOUSANDS" either. Feel free to link me to where i said that paying thousands of dollars is better than having a console for 4 years. Oh wait..you can't. |
you think PC is the best choice compared to consoles
that can't be proven how many people int he world actually think that now? 10? |
Quote:
I think pc's are better for certain types of games. FPS, RTS, and the multitude of simulators out there. How many people in the world think pc's are better for shooters? Just about anyone thats played a pc fps with a keyboard and mouse in the last 10 years. Excluding you obviously as your stance on ANYTHING changes to suit your attempts at argueing. |
Id say...only RTS
Id rather play COD 4 on xbox 360 than PC now. On console it is easier to do it wrong...but when it is right...there is no reason to play PC FPS games over consoles...it's pretty much same shit almost. |
Quote:
Yeah the autoaim must bring a sense of satisfaction at actually being able to hit something for a change. |
well, the thing about consoles is that if they're done right, they're better for certain gaming. But if they're done by releasing a new console every 3-4 years (like Microsoft is doing with Xbox), and certain companies manipulating the online stores by removing content in the games and making you pay extra for content that should of been in the games originally (see EA Sports), then PCs>Consoles.
|
Quote:
There are certain games id rather play on a console, that being said though i mainly whore out FPS games and playing them on consoles to me the experience is just dumbed down. COD 4 has a retarded amount of autoaim on the console versions..really who wants the game to be doing the killing for them? |
pc gaming is at quite a low. the prices new pc games release at are so low its ridiculous how they make money on the games - hugely effected by the scale of pc piracy.
|
Quote:
Which is why pc games need to have decent multiplayer components and a good cd key system. Anyone can pirate a game for the SP element, but something like cod4 its hard to play online with the servers kicking people for recognised warez keys. If they do a good job on the multi their games will still sell, if not they probably wont. |
regardless i bet there are more people playing cod 4 online on the consoles, and also there is a higher percentage playing cod 4 cracked downloaded copies on the pc regardless of such cd key systems.
started playing cod 4 finally again after a month break and im awful, cant shoot shitttttt |
The only way people with a cracked copy of cod4 to play it online on pc is to find a server thats also running a cracked version, theres barely any of these online and any there was were usually laggy as shit. IW update the server lists every so often to incorperate more warezed keys so the chances of being able to play it online for any amount of time is pretty slim.
The gamespy stats say theres about 14,000 people playing the pc version, dunno if that takes into account overall players, players playing now or just servers their gamespy program has listed. http://archive.gamespy.com/images/dot.gifhttp://archive.gamespy.com/images/dot.gifhttp://archive.gamespy.com/images/dot.gifTop Game Servers By Players http://cgi.planetquake.com/pq/pixel.pl?00CC00 http://archive.gamespy.com/images/dot.gif1. 120000 on the 360 cod 4 multiplayer right now.
|
i agree with gerv that pc is better for fps but gerv whats your argument here? people will buy more games for console regardless.....its mainstream. Hell pc built cod and look where it is now...
|

No real argument untill pyro got involved with typing out his script. Just suprising the amount of people in the last year saying pc gaming is on its way out. The tracking data doesn't cover digital downloads so the numbers are skewed pretty badly. |
I think it's just the idea that the general public gets tired of trying to make their rigs better just so they can play "this new game x" that comes out. Whereas the console people buy the console and wait two/three/four years until they even have to think about "Will this game play smoothly? Do I have to dish out more money so I can play my favorite game series that's coming out next month? etc."
It's a lot about public perception. |
exactly.
pc gaming aint going to die out, its just on a low - though if it wasnt for valve then it would be dead. |
Quote:
The public perception area is the main point where pc gaming is let down. A good example would be pc game advertising, i dunno how it is over there but over here ive seen maybe 3 PC games advertised in about 10 years, those being MOHAA, World of Warcraft and i think i might have seen a Crysis advert. You get multiformat games advertised and it might say available on pc\ps3\xbox 360 but when it comes to pc only games the avertising on tv seems to be nonexistant. When it comes to gaming though AMD are making progress to ensure integrated video can play games and have them looking good and playing good, Intel are also making progress with their new integrated video which means a store bougt pc can play games properly out of the box, maybe not at max settings but it wont be a 1fps wonder or just flat out refuse to run. So mainstream pc's will be able to run games far better and get more people playing. This vids a good example of the way AMD are going, compares their integrated video to intel current integrated video. This is also something AMD are introducing to make the public more aware of gaming on pc's and the fact that its getting cheaper while maintaing good visual quality. http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...oc.aspx?i=3312 |
I think the big advantage of consoles over pc's is cost. PC's you have to constantly upgrade. You can buy a 1200 dollar computer one month, 6 months later you'll have to upgrade it. Consoles you buy once every 3-5 years. Most of us here started out as PC gamers, but the wave is consoles.
|
Quote:
If people are uninformed enough that may be the case, its always best to check around online and not trust the chimps in the store as to how much the hardware is upto. No reason why a pc shouldn't last 3 or 4 years with no upgrades, you may have to eventually turn down some settings but if the game can be played thats the main point. |
regardless if you shop around and get the bits cheaper you still are limited by your hardware and the effort of trading/buying new bits is simply a disadvantage as to not having to do shit to my console other than buying games for it. you then have to realize the percentage of people that dont upgrade their pcs/laptops is huge, so buying a new pc/laptop every 2 years to play a handful of games is not viable.
its just nice to have the only thing i have to worry about being what game i want to buy, rather than worrying about my system before i have even thought about the games. |
It's FAR from dead.. In fact i'd say now is the cheapest and easiest time to get into PC gaming... people here just assume its dead because barely anyone on this forum plays PC anymore
I honestly think as long as video games exist PC gaming will always have its place I dunno why ppl insist on taking sides on this forum.. whats the point.. you're just acting like those fan boy losers who define their life by what video game system they use...STFU a couple years ago most of you faggots would jump at any chance to diss consoles seriously, STFU |
hey stravis you would still be a big sega fanboy if they still made consoles

Why are the PC people so confrontational?
Webb is just here cuz he hates 360... The product is not worth the price when it comes to PCs. |

What utter shite, theres more functionality to a pc than a console will ever have. |
