Mmmm...Morphine..

Polaris 06-13-2001 08:46 AM

thats a great question ...to be realistic ...the game would be over for you if you are in desperate need of a combat medic . your squad isnt gona wait till you get healed by the medic especially in omaha but you never know . i kinda liked the way the medics healed you in operation flashpoint

CandyStraw 06-13-2001 08:52 AM

Maybe your health bar will go up while he's helping you?

yea . thats how it works in OP , its kinda like that , but with no health bar . your immobilized untill the medic comes.

I noticed in the screenshots that there is multiple ways of aiming, one with the gun on the side of the screen, the other looking straight down the barrel. Anyone have an idea about what this is for?

Gen. Rommel 06-13-2001 09:20 AM

If you're leading a squad will you have a medic? Like in SPR where the platoon had their own medic? That'd be great that the damage you sustain can only be healed by the medics or med packs. But if your medic dies then you're gonna have to rely on finding help for yourself. That'd be a nice touch.

Well in response to the question, You'd think that by including medics in the game you'd be able to go to them to be healed, if not, whats the use of them ??

Hells-Angel 06-14-2001 02:16 AM

well I read this book that was a guys journal of ww2, he was talking to the medic and the medic quoted, their hurt a little I cant do much, their hurt allot I cant do much.

BallisticWookie 06-14-2001 07:46 AM

Yeah I guess thats true, stick a bit of morphine in them, plug up the bullet holes, and move on. I'm hoping that the medics do atleast a little. Like the scientists in Half Life, jab ya with a needle and send you on your way.

imported_General_Hienburg 06-14-2001 08:57 AM

your full of bullets son and you need this needle pull down your pants NOW!!!

BallisticWookie 06-14-2001 09:03 AM

Hey wait a minute, that's a cool idea, kinna like the stimpack for the marines/bats in Starcraft.

Then again, I didn't think they have it back then during the WWII.

Gen. Rommel 06-14-2001 10:20 AM

-=-FalcoN-=- 06-19-2001 07:36 AM

Is it trrue that during war a medic cannot be shot only if he attacks you or something? I haerd that somewhere and it amde sence to me cuz , in SPR when the medics are healing guys on the beach they arent getting shot

BallisticWookie 06-19-2001 08:37 AM

Combat Medics were never safe from enemy gunfire. They were under fire just the same as their infantry comrades...

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Each Company in the regiment was assigned two (2) aid men. These men lived with the company and moved with them on every move. They were exposed to enemy fire just the same as a rifleman. And, on many occasions, were exposed to a higher degree than the rifleman.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

That was written by Frank Towers of the 30th Infantry Division Association.

Polaris 06-20-2001 01:24 AM

if anyone's interested here are some cool stories about cambat medics

BlueDevil 06-20-2001 05:22 AM

yeah i have heard that too. Medics have and do get shot at but it is not usually suppose to happen. Unless ofcourse one side hasn't a decent bone of kindness in them. http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif

Hells-Angel 06-20-2001 05:30 AM

my dad was supposed to go to vietnam to be a medic but his mom forgot to turn in the papers somethen for the draft, I am so glad she was clumsy.

elmagoo 06-20-2001 08:43 AM

They were exposed to fire, but according to the rules of warfare set by the (Geneva?) convention, medics are not supposed to be shot at and killed (I believe this is still acknowledged today). Hence why they started painting big white patches with the red cross (the universal symbol for medic) all over them so the enemy would know they're a medic. Of course they got shot at anyways (and I mean shot at deliberately :). But by that code of conduct or whatever you want to call it, medics on both sides are supposed to not be targetted by enemy gun fire.

There's also an interesting scene in SPR where when the wall crumbles down and there's the standoff between the US guys and the Germans behind the wall. Ted Danson's character comes up and they shoot all the Germans. If you look, there's a brief scene where Wade (the medic) comes up and starts trying to help the just shot Germans. I'm not sure if this was also some kind of 'rules of warefare' thing where medics have to give medical attention to anybody they can type of thing (which is the code of a doctor anyways), or if it was just part of his character.
