2015, in multiplayer mode, when we are playing "team deathmatch" or "capture the flag", there should not be frag counts per player. Why you ask? Because whenever there are frag counts in the game, nobody plays for the team but to get the most "frags"(kills) and to glorify themselves. It wouldn't make sence to have some crazy soldier run at the enemy on a suicide run just to get 5 kills. Not having frag counts would help the players focus more on teamwork, and strategy, rather than jumping around like psycho and throwing granades all over the place. Just my thoughts.

Polaris 06-18-2001 09:47 AM

in rogue spear we could only carry 3 to 6 frags , and if im playing team survival and a dude on my team decided to go ahead and try to kill the whole opposing team as a suicide stunt , then i'd tell him good job buddy .

its those friendly frags that really bother me http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/eek.gif

Gen. Rommel 06-18-2001 09:50 AM

I like the no frag count idea. I always have a low frag count in teamplay games...why? No it's not because I suck. It's because I like playing defense rather than offense. So, I'm usually providing cover fire or guarding the base...I maybe will get 20 frags while others will get over a hundred...eh.

Good idea spooge, I hate nothing more than seeing all my team mates splitting up and going their own way in CS or whatever and getting wiped out because their taking on groups by themselves. Teamwork should be the greatest focus of this game in multiplayer and not being a teamplayer should be penalized, although I have no idea how, but it should be. Points should be awarded to the team, not the player, for specific objectives being met and carried out.

SoLiDUS 06-19-2001 02:29 AM

Here's a tip for all of you concerned with friendly fire ---> there's a new mod for half-life called GLOBAL WARFARE that deals with FF in an interesting fashion : instead of killing the teammate, it kills YOU.

It removes your hitpoints.. I think that's a nice way of dealing with team killers...

Jerry 06-19-2001 02:34 AM

[QOUTE]instead of killing the teammate, it kills YOU.[/QOUTE]

This idea and modification is a total waste in a fierce battle in any FPS Multiplayer game! If any of you are "skilled" players in TFC, you should know that it is a bitch to hit your own player and then die because you were trying to save his ass with your sniper rifle and the enemy moves next to him with a sudden jerk and you fire and hit him. This goes with all classes and guns. This idea is lame *No Pun Intended*. Just take off FF and the game will be fine. Trying to save a teammate should not be such a gamble. This is a very frequent thing.

SoLiDUS 06-19-2001 03:18 AM

We'll never have a realistic MP experience..

FF ON
-----

TKers will have a "blast" <g>

No TKers = realistic experience

FF OFF
------

Realism ? <lol>

The only other alternative : after TKing 5 times (in a certain amount of time) you are banned from the server..

I say <In a certain amount of time> because accidents DO happen... but not that often http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif

BallisticWookie 06-19-2001 04:58 AM

yeah thats an awesome game, not bad at all. And that feature is very cool.

BallisticWookie 06-19-2001 08:47 AM

Or if theirs a TK, like in CS you can forgive the guy who did you in and it's all forgotten. Having FF off would be lame, it would totally destroy the game, Counter strike sucks with FF off, and so would this.

Hells-Angel 06-19-2001 09:17 AM

thats what tfc is like

[/quote:beaae] Yeah, that term is used in Quake, Unreal Tournament and Counterstrike.

Also used in SoF, Star Trek Away Team...I don't like the term frag for a WWII games...how about KIAs? Huh?

yea , i do understand now . i have heared the term "frag" for kills before . its just that the only mplayer game i really play is RS and i dont really care much for deathmatch or capture the flag , so the last time i really heared that phrase was back in march , when that "Gore" demo came out .

What if someone throws a granade in the wrong plane and kills himself and four others? We should have friendly fire, but if someone on your team is an asshole and kills you every time, you just vote him off.

Hells-Angel 06-20-2001 01:13 AM

Easy answer to the FF question is like others have said, team kill so many teams and you are banned from the server. To keep people from just logging back in, have the game hold the IP, and disallow someone to relog back in with that IP. Of course, someone can log off, with a non-static IP, and log back on, and get in. Maybe some kind of MOH:AA game ID should be used, to better identify problem children.

I like FF, more realistic. However, too many kids (not necessarily true teens/kids, as I've known adults to do this childish stuff) ruin a realistic game.

About the game statistics for kills (that's just what I call it). I say keep track of them. In fact, I'd love to see both individual statistics, such as bullets used, percentages, etc. I'd also like to see a seperate stat for squads, if possible. However, keep it all a secret. Don't tell the players how well they are doing, until the end of the game, or until a map switch. Then, at the end of the game, when it's over, all your information is posted for you to see. This could even be information for you only...to keep braggers from saying, look, see, I told you that I'm a l337 znipr with 157 kills! (groan).

Keep it a secret, with only your stats shown, and no one elses. Of course, a screen capture could be used, but after the game, who really cares how well you did?

I do like stats, however, and I think they are useful, but I do hate kill-whores (sorry for the language, my own personal term), who only worry about how many guys they kill, and don't work as a team.

My experience with CS and DoD tells me voting people off DOES NOT WORK. Not even close to actually..

An intelligent system / program can limit the amount of times something can happen out of bad luck (throwing a grenade in a plane where your buddies are does NOT occur every 10 minutes rofl)...

This isn't a day-to-day encounter, which is why I think the system would work immensily well.

Also, my previous idea of a certain amount of friendly kills in a specified time getting you banned is also a favorite of mine..

I mean, how unlucky can one get ? Think about it http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/wink.gif

i see no problem with team killing in this game ... if i come across a man who team kills , he will be considered a TRAITOR to his country and to his cause and will be hung by his balls in front of his family and friends !! http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/mad.gif http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif
