wow... heres an idea, lets care sooooooooo much about a plane that we will probably see fly over our heads a couple times for a total of maybe 7 seconds throughout the entire game. I mean come on guys, its a game designed to be FUN, are you really going to let these nit-picky details ruin that for you? i hope not because then you would just be wasting your money. And hey guess what?? I found another unrealistic thing in the game: the soldiers arent REALLY alive!!! they are a bunch of poly-cartoon characters! LOL
No but keep up the good work Waf. I honestly do enjoy reading your posts. While it bashes down my loving PC game, I still learn a whole lot more about the second world war. |
A friend of mine coined a phrase a long while ago, that has stuck with me.
Just remember, "It was wild back then, it could've happened" |
Since I'm on a Roll here... Lets talk about the Strafing Aircraft. Yes, P-51D Mustangs where used on Strafing missions. But They where normally and Mainly used in Escorting Missions. The Main Fighterbombers where the British Temptest, The P-47 and The P-38. The P-51 seems to be very popular, But It wasnt the most common Historically. No matter how cool it looks. And Lets not Feature any British Stuff in this Game, Because they werent there. Right?
From what weve seen so far all there has been is the P47 and Fw109. But I'm sure there would have been Spitfires and Hurricanes over Europe, Just remember the British declared War on Germany, so why wouldnt they have been there ??
I Was being Sarcastic, but what the heck a a "Fw 109?"
We had an entire topic on planes a while ago, and there is quite a wide selection of planes in the game. They are also very well modeled from the visual aspect, not the way they fly because we havn't seen many of them flying yet so we can't tell.

There are Ju87's in the game too, but they didn't really have a role in Normandy or France in 1944-1945. There probably will be V2's in the game also.

Well, This starts in Africa Right? So there were Stukas Down in Tunisia and also Stationed in Sicily and Italy. I noticed that the Stukas have a More Bloched Camoflage pattern... Mostly they would have just a Afika Korps Mustard..
I Also see there are some Narly machine gun Ports on the "Fw109" in the screen shots on the 4th Page.. Oh yeah, canons everywhere but where they're supposed to be. "Dude" |
BlueDevil: These aren't really stupid nit-picky details. To people who really enjoy history it really matters. you cant go around changing histor just because you're lazy. Those are details that will make the difference between a rare really good WWII game and just another piece of cartoony shit. Some of those mistakes arent small either, after people play this over and over and didn't know better to begin with they'll think thats the way it really was. For the people who do know better, it will just slowely drive them crazy the more they play it. So it comes down to it does make a difference between a P47 or a me109 etc. and a looney toon airplane. If you you or anyone else doesn't care about details and just want to smash things good, forget about this game and get on the creators of quake's ass to make ANOTHER! one.
Dude yo foo, dat plane in da 4th page is a Bf109, so we are clearly talking about a different pic yo. Maybe they were using da Tigers and da green Stukas as place holders, punk, like they did with da M1 and they gave it to a German soldier in some of da earlier shots yo.

and "to the people who really enjoy history" , you guys must understand that they arent leaving specific details out of the game just because the developers are "Lazy" .
Woah, look out, numerical police. Yes I meant Fw190, so sorry to have tarnished history in anyway, I was also thinking of the Bf109 aswell. Just remember mate, this is a game, not a history lesson, their going for as much authenticity AS possible. And adding all the other historically accurate details you have will not add anymore to the game then what we've already seen and it will take longer to complete the game and I dont think anyone wants that for the sake of a few historically accurate facts. And by the way its sorta hard to pick up sarcasm in text.

Yes, I see that is a Messerschmitt Bf 109 (Looks like a G Model). But The Cannon fire coming from the wing close to the is wrong. There has never been a Cannon mounted in the Wing that close to the fuselage... Except, on the Fw 190E, Hence, "FW109." The Mega-plane, devopled by the germans in 1944, just for this game. "Dude"
get over the fw109 fuckup you smart ass
Actually now that I look at the gear configuration on the buttom the plane on page 4, it looks like an Fw190.

With a Nose and engine cowling like that, and landing gear like it is. I think it's a poorly made model of a mixed design aircraft.
True, I was aiming the lazy thing to bluedevil. Taking on designing a high detailed game is a huge task and probably very easy to to get overwealmed and look past things
ya, and sometimes its very hard to go back and put those things in.
But they better
here are some quotes from 2015 , just so can understand where they are coming from with this game

quote:
*snip*Sure, we can make the game realistic to the point that 90% of the time when the door to the higgins boat door drops open you die, and you just restart until you happen to get in that %10 that makes it to shore. Then at that point we'll make it so that you have a %75 chance (at least) that a stray bullet will hit you and you're now immobilized. Would this be fun? I personally don't think so. The game is going to be as realistic as we can make it given the limitations we have to work within. You shoot a guy, he'll behave properly for where he's shot. You'll get damage feedback for when you hit the guy, and it will look and feel right. The guns will behave as close to the actual guns as we can make them. The sounds will be as accurate as we can make them. The physics will be as good as we can make them within our technological limitations. If you play a game, and you get fully immersed and feel as if you are there, and it emmulates reality to the point where you are not removed from the game by something blantantly out of place*snip*

-elmagoo from 2015
quote:
*snip*In short, we have *NEVER* claimed to be making a completely realistic game. We are making a highly realistic game, and a highly fun game. Of course, fun is subjective*snip*

-Coriolis from 2015 |
LOL @ BallisticWookie
Damn right I didnt feel stupid, why should I ? Christ all I did was get 2 numbers mixed up and this History Professor is all over my ass about it, that really shits me. Are we allowed to ever make mistakes ? Heavens no, especially when it involves matters of such historical importance as an Fw190.
amen ball
You can take it anyway you want to take it, BallisticWookie.
after reading this thread again in its entirety , i find myself laughing my ass off . especially in how Wookie refers to Waffen as the "History Professor" .
[This message has been edited by Polaris (edited June 24, 2001).] |
dont worry ball, he has been pissing us off with this stuff for a cople of days =)
speak for your self Angel . i dont mind having "educated" people in these forums , as long as they dont belittle us and think that uneducated people are only people that dont know their history .
true true, my bad, hes been making us smarter in a sudden but creative way, http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif, sorry bout that, ya I guess it is cool that hes teaching us some things, we get smarter people on this board every week.
yes , us dumb folk need our daily lessons . http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
especially when i'm studying and am involved in a completely different subject . but any questions i can ask in the history forums i can ask here now , which is a good thing . |
My, what an interesting conversation. He's teaching you to notice details that you didn't care about by making you feel stupid.
i wouldn't go that far Hans . lol
i dont think Wookie felt stupid at all . http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by Polaris (edited June 24, 2001).] |

I know what you mean. It was the English who captured the enigma machine...not a couple of slackjawed Americans.

Hey Mr. Dick on the wheels, please explain to me how trying to enjoy my game to its fullest and not worrying about the smallest details makes me lazy? I understand that you and many others care soooooo much if you see a plane in the sky in the distance and it has the wrong decall or paint job, and thats totally cool. But why dont I have the same right to enjoy my game just the way it is. I see in absolutely no way that this makes me more lazy than you. Sure, i may be less observant than the rest but I dont have to sit around and let those things bother me while gaming. What I would be pissed at, is if they messed up SEVERLY. For example, having battles take place in the wrong countries. Just remember Dickonwheels, whats minor to me may be major to you, and vice versa. But dont get me wrong, I understand your point of view. Just dont go calling me lazy because I "dont know any better about those historic flaws." I know a lot more about this conflict than you think. I just refuse to let that get to me. [This message has been edited by BlueDevil (edited June 25, 2001).]

You took that wrong I think. Inpatient would have been a better word to use, and I said that because you made it sound like you didn't care about details you just want it now. Wait a little longer and it will be all the sweeter. dont get all worked up now. And its Mr. Dick on Wheels [This message has been edited by Dickonwheels (edited June 25, 2001).] [This message has been edited by Dickonwheels (edited June 25, 2001).] |
