Basic Training

Anybody watch this show on the history channel. I think its an entertaining show and to see the pyhsical requirements is interesting. But i cant believe some people cant do some of the PT. That one guy cant do 32 pushups in 2 mins. 2 mins holy crap and u can take a break. 58 situps in 2 mins. Come on. Its so damn easy. The only part i can understand trouble is with the 2 miles in 16 mins cause i cant run for shit. Also that show Mail Call is pretty cool. The guy from Full Metal Jacket host it.

Pfc.Green 08-13-2002 09:51 AM

I think it is a great show, so far it is really entertaining, and hey bean give'm a break not everyone is superman.

Bean 2 08-13-2002 10:12 AM

I guess ur right Pfc. Not everyone can be as strong as us. Those weaklings.

Vance 08-13-2002 11:55 AM

DAMN i missed it last night

Slinky2397 08-13-2002 12:01 PM

I want that channel. Stupid Basic cable...

Pyro 08-13-2002 12:02 PM

I just did 5 push ups, think I should be on Basic Training 2?

08-13-2002 12:17 PM

Some of those recruits are funnier than the guys in the comedy "Stripes"

Why do people act stupid when they know the Sarge is going to be on their case???

About Mail Call, wasn't that guy also the drill sergeant in the "Space Above and Beyond" pilot episode?

that was funny shit: "when do we get our planes"
"PLANES? I AM AFRAID OF YOU IN A SIMULATOR!"

MrLevinstein 08-13-2002 12:48 PM

i can do about 90 pushups in 2 minutes witha break god what am i a seal? 58 situps? oh thats a toughie. the running wouldnt be that easy if you prepared for it. i thought that i wasnt fit enough to be in the army but now i wanan challenge myself with the marines

Data 08-13-2002 12:56 PM

the real problem I have with their fitness req. is that women do about 1/3 of what men do.
In the foxholes the wounded buddy that you must drag to safety will not become 1/3 as heavy because you are a woman.
this equal rights crap is really hurting the army, in my opinion.

what a wise man. that is so true. your workload doesnt become lighter just because your a woman. if your ina hand tohand fight they arnt gonna go easy because your a woman. what a bunch of shit

08-13-2002 01:32 PM

it's politics, can you imagine what those idiot "organizations" like NOW would say if women had to work as hard as men? "they're making them work hard just because they're women!" well no shit sweetheart what do you think the military is a fucking poker game?

jimo_soccer 08-13-2002 02:49 PM

I'm glad to hear it, so why are you putting the training down?

MrLevinstein 08-13-2002 04:07 PM

im not putting it down i think that it should be a little a little harder say 40 pushups in a row with 1 minute rest then another 40 then 60 situps 2 minute rest 60 more

90 pushups in 2 minutes?

Thats one pushup every 1.33 seconds.

I think you must be a SEAL, becasue I don't know many people who can do that.

Sniped 08-13-2002 06:41 PM

The recruits on this show are dumbasses. Really are people this stupid?

Alias 08-13-2002 06:44 PM

.....eyeballs sniped....

in my FRESHMAN PE class in HS it was normal to do from 6-12 sets in a day (yeah we had a nice coach LOL)
every Friday we had a fitness test where you had to do as many pushups as you can without stopping and by the 4th week I peaked 60 and didn't want to go any harder than that.
Now that coach moved to the big campus (our Freshmen were separate) and the new Freshmen are a bunch of sissies.

anyway this was a bunch of 14-15 year old kids, I expect that 18-19 year olds could do better!

ninty 08-13-2002 07:48 PM

1 pushup every 1.33 seconds is pretty fast. Espically when you pass the first minute. Think about it.

I'm sure Anna Nicole Smith could do it!

MrLevinstein 08-13-2002 08:09 PM

if a 14 year can bench his wieght 4 times dont you think a bunch of 18 year olds can do a lousy 30 pushups?

Bean 2 08-14-2002 08:36 AM

And they werent even doin the right pushup. They were goin have way and then coming back up. And the drill sarge wasnt even saying anything. WTF. I could do 30 of the half way pushups nonstop. And its only 9 weeks. Basic training looks mad easy right now. And does anybody know what u have to join before joining airborne? Is it just basic training or do u have to do other shit too?

MrLevinstein 08-14-2002 08:47 AM

it does look easy and airborne training is differnt you have to do all this stuff on parachuteing and landing before u even go up in the plane

Alias 08-14-2002 03:57 PM

lol I would LOVE to see you guys really go to Basic. "Oh it just isnt hard it looks like". Do me a favor and tell your TI when you get to Boot camp that it isnt hard enough. Im sure he'll be able to fix the situation.
