Gah, I wanted to see that... Too many good movies have come out recently. It's hard to catch up.

ninty 08-13-2002 05:25 PM

I have it marked on my callendar. I didn't think it was the best movie, but it was good. I want to see this on my home theatre instead of my computer. I'm sure it'll sound a lot better.

I know this is offtopic, but still movie related. I just rented Kung Pow...something... Anyone seen that movie? Good thing I didn't pay to see it in theaters. Has to be one of the dumbest movies ever.

rudedog 08-13-2002 06:53 PM

I have not seen that one yet, My dad said it was very good.

They have just released "the big red one" on DVD. I just got my copy today so expect a new picture pack soon.

Hopefully by next week.

We were soldiers was a very good movie. The beginning when the French Foreign Legion troops get massacred was pretty gruesome, as was most of the war scenes, but Mel did a very good job. It tells the story of the US troops first insertion into Vietnam, and how unprepared they really were.

My fav line was

"Any of you call me grandpa...i'll kill ya"

well it went something like that anyway:)

intrestedviewer 08-14-2002 08:36 PM

i downloaded a real crapy versian and only watched like half an hour but i erased it before i finished watching it cause it was just too poor of quality and i want to see this movie on dvd with surround sound.

ninty 08-20-2002 04:33 PM

I just picked up the movie today. Hopefully i'll get a chance to watch it this evening or tomorrow.

Milla 08-20-2002 09:25 PM

Well we were soldiers is sitting in my DVD collection riiiiiiight now biggrin: Big red one has luke skywalker in it and it was made in 79 i think, it also stars lee marvin, and the movie isnt that good. "any of you sumbitches call me grandpa...ill kill ya"- classic line biggrin:

filmguy15 08-21-2002 07:48 AM

no no the best one from that movie is "Good Morning Captain" "What are you the f*cking weather man" lol evil:

Milla 08-21-2002 11:44 AM

ROFL!!! yeah i forgot about that part, that definatly takes the cake biggrin: but i think he says Beautiful day huh Sgt. Major?" "what are you the f*cking weather man?"

Zoner 08-21-2002 01:02 PM

When you guys say that "We Were Soldiers" was gruesome, how gory are we talkin' here? "Saving Private Ryan"-type gruesome? Worse?

My friends were telling how gory SPR was before I saw it, and as I was watching it, I didn't find it THAT bad.

I s'pose I'll hafta rent it and find out for myself...heh heh.

its pretty gruesome. when u have napalm and all that vietnam stuff it can make for some really gruesome scenes

r3mix 08-21-2002 06:58 PM

Well in Oz this was in the cinemas only a month or so ago. we are scheduled for release of Black Hawk Down on that same date (dunno if its out in US already).

on the upside.... Oz court just ruled PS2 mod chips LEGAL with the view that region encoding is bullshit and you should be able to play overseas discs and backup copies on the hardware you buy. Hopefully this will transfer to DVD and we can get quality retail region hardware mods being advertised.
