Hot damn! aa.com server voice chat is now ONLINE :)

Due to Roger Wilco being so gheyified you have to reg the base station(which was why nobody could connect) my host and I decided on TeamSpeak.

[url:40903]http://www.teamspeak.org/[/url:40903]

join server

fastattack.org

pass=amber

for a general test if you're interested. Plz think about using a key to transmit and not voice activated. Should be common sense but we dont want to hear what your eating :P

Plz use your MOH nick and not your name. Much easier to see who is who than "John Smith"

[quote:40903]As for mic settings...
Right click the volume cntrl icon in your taskbar.
Choose Open volume controls.
Make sure MIC is checked.
Go upto Options and click Properties.
Choose Recording, make sure you have MIC seleted in the window underneath first.
In Recording make sure MIC is checked.

Do the loopback test and you should hear yourself. [/quote:40903]

5 seconds after installing TS with no messing with mic settings I was able to connect and talk to some friends.

Its up now and will stay up 24/7 unless the host has to reboot.

As soon as I finish reading up on what I can do I'll setup the different channels I mentioned in earlier posts but the general channel is online :)

Untill I get =DOA= setup with their own server plz respect the =DOA= rooms as private. BallBuster has admin (as does rudedog) and he is free to kick anyone from his rooms. If you get kicked its an automatic 24 hour ban from what my host tells me.

Brought to you by FastAttack.org biggrin:
Many thanks to FastAttack for hosting this and for his paitience with my ignorant ass :D
(check sig for details)[/quote]

I need this , since I type so slow , but I know nothing about this stuff , never tried it before.... I downloaded the "TS Client Windows", that's the right one right?? Haven't installed it yet , trying to get more info first. Don't use a headset , have to use the mike for now. From the subject of this thread I assume this can be used on the aa.com server and I will be able to talk to and hear others who have this installed. Am I correct in this assumption ??

Jasper 08-20-2002 06:01 PM

Thats it OldGuy. Just install it, hook up your mic (suprising how many people are forgetting to do this) and in the Connection Tab hit loopback server to test your mic. Then disconnect and reconnect to my server. Should be simple as that.

Jasper 08-21-2002 03:46 AM

Ok, last night wasnt too bad. Some ppl have mic issues but we had upto 10 ppl on at once.

I have aa.com server rooms up now. In key bindings set your hot keys to switch between aa.com(general chat), aa.com_Allies and aa.com_Axis. Im not sure but are'nt the 'F' keys not used in-game? Anyway I have mine set to F4 and F5 respectively.

rudedog and the other admins can set Hotkeys to whisper to each other. This means only the person you are whispering to will hear you. Admins can discuss server issues or troublesome players in private. You can set whisper keys without the other player present. Just type in their name. I have rudedog set to F6. If theres too much traffic in the room you're in switch to the admin room but remember to to use the player hotkeys to talk or anyone else in that room will hear you.

I went in to this with blind faith "if you build it, they will come" mentality and I wasnt prooven wrong last night. Hopefully this will catch on to the point guys are using the Allies/Axis channels in-game.

rudedog 08-21-2002 04:42 AM

wasn't feeling to good last nigh so I stayed away for the PC. Just through away my old headset but will pick another up this afternoon.

I hope everyone thanks jasper for this. I for one know he went through a lot of trouble setting this up.

Goes to show you what a good community is all about.

Thanks jasper.

3/3 Marine 08-21-2002 08:34 AM

=[DOA]=VonMeyer 08-21-2002 11:37 AM

Jasper 08-21-2002 02:42 PM

Magnesium12, I doubt it but it might be on your end or the host reset the server. Keep trying and if you repeatedly cant connect will work on it :)

Thank you rude and you're all quite, quite wellcome. I just wanted to be able to give something back in return for having the privilidge of playing on the aa.com and DOA servers.

You guys wanna show your appreciation? Use the service :P
Its not free but as long as it gets used I'll keep maintaining it.

Oldguy 08-21-2002 03:55 PM

Okay, I got the thing working kinda, I can hear others in the room but they are garbled , and it seems they can't hear me , just static , which is what I'm getting on the loopback test. I don't have a headset yet so I'm using a mike and the speakers and I'm sure everything is hooked up right . I've turned the mike all the way up in the sounds settings plus the 20db mike boost and the mike is selected and not muted . I also have all the mike settings all the way up in the TS settings. Tried the settings at several different places , all with the same static return on the loopback .... Any suggestions ??

Thats probally your problem OldGuy. It seems weird but the MIC must be muted or it will be allways on.

Try muteing the MIC and try the loopback test again.

08-21-2002 04:29 PM

i better start running from audio out to mic in on my dvd.

Oldguy 08-21-2002 04:57 PM

Okay Jasper , I tried muting the mike in both the sound settings and in TS (one at a time) and now I get nothing back at all on the loopback. I'm thinking maybe I've got to reinstall the software that came with the soundcard (SB Live Value). I uninstalled it some time ago because it was causing some problems on my PC. The drivers must be installed because "SB Live wave device" shows up in the boxes on the audio tab in the sound settings but maybe I've got to have that control panel thingy that lets you set up different configs. I dunno , maybe it's worth a try. Whataya think ??

Jasper 08-21-2002 05:36 PM

Ok first unmute the MIC in TS.

TS shouldnt need any adjusting it self, only your recording/playback properties in Windows.

In both Playback AND Recording properties MIC and only MIC should be checked.

Try that and let me know.

I think as long as you can hear yourself in loopback mode you should be fine on the server. If you CAN hear yourself in loopback but nobody on the server can then I dunno. Behind a firewall?

ok, i got it to work, and i'll say how i did it in case it happens to others.

it turns out that when i start TS, and connected to the loopback thing, and then disconnect from that and try connecting to the fastattack.org server, it fails to connect. BUT if i try connecting to fastattack.org right when i start TS and not connect to loopback then it worked. so when i failed to connect all i did was quit TS then opened it again and then i could connect. somehow connecting to loopback messed something up with me. but since i got my mic working now i shouldnt have to connect to loopback ever again so i wont have anymore problems.

Coleman 08-22-2002 01:06 PM

I just played with it last night. I think it is a really good idea. We should have another Dodgeball game WITH this program. I think that would be cool.

About for team channels, just have the captain make a channel with a password instead of the normal aa.com team channels(no pw on these)
That would be fun.

Oldguy 08-22-2002 02:46 PM

Okay Jasper , i think maybe my main problem may be this old mike I'm using. I bought it several years ago for my old PC and since I hardly ever use a mike I've never gotten another. It works okay for recording .wav's but may not be sensitive enough or something for this purpose , it was a cheapie anyways...... I've decided to go out this weekend and buy a headset with a boom mike and I'd like to get a good one. Any suggestions as to brand and model ??? Under $50 please. biggrin:

Jasper 08-22-2002 03:01 PM

Its not possible to pas/wrd rooms untill TS 2.0 comes out Gary.

Jasper 08-22-2002 03:16 PM

Um Im clueless on mic/headsets Old Guy. Im going to do the same thing tommorow.

I CAN say the quality of the mic make seems to make a big difference in sound quality.

Rudedog tried a mic last night that was phone quality and then switched to a different one thats wasnt nearly as good.

rudedog 08-22-2002 03:33 PM

I went to best buy and purchased a "labtec" nothing special. cost me $20.
Very comfortble and both the sound and mic work well

Will be playing with it later tonight

Cyberdoc 08-22-2002 03:44 PM

yup..me too

Well I guess the old broken mic thing is contagious. My prob turned out to be an old mic as well, I've got two more to try then ill be stoping at BestBuy myself. Ok then hiope to speak-up soon. evil:\

P.S. Hows the sound quality on those headsets, been using a pair of Sony Studio/remix headphones that I paid a pretty-penny for.

rudedog 08-22-2002 03:59 PM

There fine. Nothing out of the ordinary.
They way I can brake things. $20 bucks is too much oOo:

I tried a pair of sub woofer head phones last year at comdex in vegas. These things where awsome and only cost $27.00 ( show special )

I wish I picked up a pair. Shock your whole head when someone fired a gun or a car went buy.

Oldguy 08-22-2002 04:18 PM

Bestbuy , Wooo Woot , my favorite store . Yeah, that's where I was gonna go anyways , better selection than most. ................. Thanks Rude, hope to get this thing working sometime this weekend.

pvt_hz 08-22-2002 07:33 PM

circuit city is good, to, i saw a very good mic's and headphone sets, for 25 bucks, anyway u are the boss!
