10-minute DOOM3 footage, for those who have not seen it
The size of this video is near 50MB but its worth of the download, the game looks just incredible.
Doom 3 footage[/url:c1912] Save target as.. Enjoy. |
omg that is the most amazing gameplay footage ive ever seen, the sound and graphics are incredible. I love the way you can hide from them and just like in real life they walk on by, that is so cool and i cant wait for this to come out. I hope they release the mapping tools for it too, cause i would love to map for that and get away from boring old half life engine. Any idea hwne it comes out?
|
I dunno Tool-Boy....Cool name though!
|
thanks for the link
|
lol, my origianl name was tool from long ago before i got deleted, i just got back, so i named myself tool-back... but anyways, dude watch the vid again and look at the lighting effects, definitly best ive ever seen in a game. Also the scripted sequences are awesome too. And each bullet made a hole in the monsters body, and did you see when he shot the one on the stairs comin at him how it fell down to the bottom and its leg was like on top of 1 stair, its some nice shiat.

divx ?
|
AVI.
Why do i only get sound? |
OMG! that is amazing. especially the lighting, wow. that is gonna be one great game. I can only imagine when they come out with a medal of honor that looks that good biggrin: a tiny step up from Doom 1 right? lol.

Now if they only get their heads out of their asses and actually make a GOOD game with that engine.
Blasting away at hordes of enemies (fucking wierd looking ones at that)with a pistol because some fool programmer neglected to give you a REAL MILITARY WEAPON is NOT my idea of fun. |
[quote:59b69]One of the first things to understand about DOOM III is that it's not being designed as your typical first-person shooter, where elements like plot and atmosphere often take a back seat to the action. The game will take a more deliberate pace, to allow gamers to soak in the surroundings. "One of the design goals of the game is to terrify people," Stratton explains, "we're setting up scenarios to scare people." The demonstration contains a number of moments that illustrate this point, including one where your character is checking out his reflection in a mirror … and you suddenly spot another creature off to the side, rapidly charging your way.
While id isn't planning on giving away the entire plot of the game anytime soon, Stratton did give us a few ofthe basics: DOOM III is basically a "retelling" of the original DOOM, with many of the same characters and themes, and even some returning weapons. Most of the game is set on Mars, where you're a marine recently stationed at the Union Aerospace Corporation, a company with strong military ties doing experimentation with teleportation technology. It seems a few people at the UAC don't exactly have everyone's best interests at heart, and after a betrayal, things quickly descend into chaos, with members of the facility being possessed and turned into zombies. This is where you come in -- as one quote from the demonstration put it, "only one man stands between hell and earth... you." Details are also a bit thin on the many of the enemies, weapons and levels, but there were some elements that could be seen in the demonstration. There were a number of zombies roaming the UAC installation, based off both civilian and security personnel. There were also a number of seemingly non-human creatures present -- many of whom attacked with quick, lunging attacks, and were all modeled and animated exquisitely. The main character carried a pistol for the majority of the demonstration, but also got to wield a shotgun (causing much spattering of blood), as well as an assault rifle that reminded me quite a bit of the one from Halo. And while the entire demonstration was set in the UAC facility, we're told that you'll also get to make a trip to Hell. [/quote:59b69] http://www.gamespy.com/e32002/pc/doom3b/ |
What are you guys using to play this, cause i cant find jack shit that will. All i get is the audio.
|
yea same ere
It sounds like multiplayer is going to be pretty limited on the game unfortunately. Supposedly a max of 4 players to a game, and you can't join a game once it's started. Also the single player is supposed to be pretty short, you should be able to finish it in a weekend.

If I ever play that, I'm going to buy ten extra pairs of pants.
|
HAW HAW! Definitely, man.
The fluorescent lights in some rooms swinging from the ceiling blew my little mind...the lighting effects are so REAL LOOKING!! Zone |
Yeah its great. Must need a beast of a PC though.
There's talk at the doom forums at forumplanet that its going to be on DVD? |
Games with zombies are way too freaky for me ed: ed: ed:
|
boooooring
|
move over half life
move over every other game before this this game is the future my god that video looks real!!! the amount of detail is staggering, the lighting is about 10 years ahead of anything now. i think people should wait until its close to release until they have any REAL opinion on it, theres no solid facts about this game, its unfinished, no-ones played it, they've only seen it, theres a long way to go. already it looks to be the best and scariest game ever. that footage is jus what we needed, solid evidence of in-game action and its truly mouth watering. DooM is back. Long live doom. |
DooM II was my first PC game.....oh the memories....and Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego too
|
Ha, I had Carmen Sandiego for my old Haundai computer. I liked it when you had to talk to that fat ugly bitch.

|
omg pyro so many times i foget to hit 9 :( your sig tells the truth
|
HOLY CRAP!
I will pay what ever they ask to get my hands on that. The shadows that give away enemy position. The fact that you can see reflections in glass. Watch close when he's watching a peice of machine work a monster sneaks up on him and you see its reflection in the glass, i almost wet myself in glee. Looks scary as fuck, enough to keep you going slow and your eyes peeled thats for damn sure. Cant wait until some higher quality videos come out. This is certainly going to be a giant leap for gaming kind! |
Is the storyline going to be as shitty as the original?
Seriously, a squad of Marines lands to investigate (when Marines decide to investigate the go in with at least a battalion plus air and tank support) bigzooka: bigzooka: bigzooka: fire2: fire2: fire2: fire1: fire1: fire1: They leave their best man in the rear with the gear and armed only with a pistol (WTF?) They get promptly slaughtered but the one man armed with a pistol maganes to destroy all the enemies. At least in MOHAA the friendlies do something instead of going off and getting killed like dumbshits. when they make a real war game based on that engine, I'll be impressed! |
Doom has never been about storyline. if it would had been, would you seriously think that it would be considered as an classic. You dont need a plot for Doom, you only need to know that you're the only survived marine, one man against hordes of zombies and other most terrifying creatures ever appeared. Of course you start with pistol in Doom, it wouldn't be a Doom if you would have the best guns there right away.
I could really care less how lame the plot is, how silly it feels, but god damnit, it looks as good as there can be, and I bet it plays well. Not something that every other game has, eh? |
