**BEEP**in' Schoolwork

God damn it! I hate summer school work. mad: I'm going to be in 10th grade and I am slaving over text books over the summer. I'm taking AP American History and I have to read the first 3 chapters of the 1000 page book. Then I must define 90 words (Who, what, where, when why, how, significance, etc.) Each word must be at least 1 paragraph long!

On top of that, I have to do at least formal 5 paragraph essay on the differences of the Chesapeake and New England Colonies!! Argh!!!! Oh yeah, it's due on the first day.

On top of THAT, I have a 50 question test on the second day of school on the third chapter! When will it end!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!?!??!?

For English, I have to read a book and do at least 15 pages of Journal entries that discuss major refrences to the book and all of my thoughts on the book. What a pain in the DONKEY!

Oh, just shoot me NOW! M16:

School whats that? Never went

Chronic Diarrhea 08-24-2002 08:14 PM

No I don't have school work, and I've been in school for 2 weeks now. I'm a junior this year though, and you don't do crap your last 2 years of high school. Dead serious, we just sit around and shoot the shit. Sure we've had tests and homework, but I have made a 105 on every test so far, which includes Chemistry 1 and Algebra 2. Next year I'm taking all AP to get ready for college.

Sgt. Tsunami 08-24-2002 11:06 PM

Heh I'm in the 10th grade and I'm doing ok so far. Algebra 2 is ok. (EXCEPT STORY PROBLEMS ARGH WHOEVER MADE THOSE MUST BE BURNING IN HELL RIGHT NOW!)

Milla 08-24-2002 11:41 PM

Necrology 08-25-2002 02:13 AM

going to 10th grade myself
dont have any summer work though
but in 1 week its gonna start all over again only harder

Data 08-25-2002 07:11 AM

I already started school but my Summer work was read Alive, Into Thin Air, and The Old man and The Sea and for the book Alive I had to write two essays. 1. Site 5 or 6 examples of how members of the group discovered the mystery of God's experience. Connect the example with passages from the Scripture that you studied in either Hebrew Scriptures or the New Testament. 2. How important is community in their survival? Cite examples from the book that illustrate the living out of community.

This work wasnt to bad. The books were very boring though.

MrLevinstein 08-25-2002 07:14 AM

no school until sept 4 evil: then 9th grade and boy i want to shoot the shit

Pfc.Green 08-25-2002 07:54 AM

Coleman 08-25-2002 09:55 AM

Well, I'm going navy, so I'll get money there (not much) and after that probably get a job related to my naval training, plus the fact that I am not a greedy bastard, and my life doesnt rotate around money oOo:

Glad to see someone has his head screwed on enough to realise money isnt everything (but it sure damn helps) and that school grades arnt everything (but sure damn help).
Anyway, those who have - quit whining about school work. when youre older and look back youll realise what a breeze it all was.

AP classes are in general a waste of time. Sure if you pass the extremely difficult test you may get a college credit but it's really not worth it. And no colleges don't look at how many AP classes you take. They don't give a fuck. If you want colleges to notice you, get good grades and take as many honors classes as possible.

Coleman 08-25-2002 02:11 PM

AP classes get weighted 9% of your grade. So if you get a 100 in the class, it would average into your cumulative average as a 109%. That's why i'm taking it. Last year(freshman year) I got a 99.568 as my final average and was ranked 15th out of 756 students in my class.

The only thing i am mad about is summer work. It is almost like an oxymoron. Summer is supposed to be free, not filled with more school work.

The only moron I see is you Garry. JK. I forgot what my rank is I think it's like 25. Right now I have a 3.8GPA because I fooled around my freshman year.

Data 08-25-2002 03:32 PM

My school only teaches honors class and I was in the top 2 percent of my class They dont give us ranks. Also my brother decided to take an AP test even though he didnt get in the class and he got the highest grade possible on the test.

wow your school is crazy. Glad mine isn't like that

Miscguy 08-25-2002 07:08 PM

This is why i avoided Ap classes at all cost. Never listen to your councilors or teachers who say you should take them. All they are is more reading and answering questions that have nothing to do with your future. Now granted it may give you the ability to focus better and better study habits. Im sorry but if you need to take an AP class just to teach yourself disapline you suck; and have no will power, and are generally lazy and unmotivated.

Also if your so worried about your ranking in a school based on your GPA i feel sorry for you. Why? Because in the real world no one gives a flying fuck what your high school GPA was. Go ahead put it on a resume (anyone know how to get the ' over the e?) your boss will not care that you had a 4.1 or some BS.

Its a bunch of extra work to get into college which you dont really need. I have friends that busted there ass in high school took all the AP classes they could. Then i had friends who just went through school like a normal person. They were accepted to the same school and the one who went through normal is still in school. While the one who busted his ass burnt out and ended up going to arizona on vacation (during the school year) havnt seen him since.

Frankly i think peoples priorities are a bit screwed up. Relax, get the stick out of your ass, and realize that the first 1/8th of your life does not dertermine the remainder.

P.s. I didnt take AP english for this reason: As stated to my councilor:

jujumantb 08-25-2002 07:44 PM

Well, doing it for GPA does affect your future. GPA is one thing colleges do look at so if it helps you get into a better college, that better college will most likely get you a better job, and hence you get mo money... if you're into that sort of thing.

Coleman 08-25-2002 08:59 PM

yeah, I'm looking to get into some Ivy League schools. I saw Princton has a good music program. i want to get into Music education as a major.

Miscguy 08-25-2002 09:26 PM

So your gonna bust your ass to be a under paid and unopriciated music teacher at your local high school... ed:

You can dream that you'll get some better job, but dream on.

Coleman 08-25-2002 10:07 PM

nah, i'll try to get my PhD in Music. I'd like to teach at a college one day. In Florida State Univ. i think it is, Arturo Sandoval is a teacher there. He is one of the best trumpet players in the world. i'd like to study with him for a bit.

Data 08-26-2002 05:17 AM

My music teachers said in high school and college I would never teach music in highschool, I would rather die. He has been teaching music in high school for about 20 yrs now.

Good luck, my brother just got out of the Corps. He learned much, like how to go into dept even though he had no bills other than a car payment and insurance. Oh, and this is after he was promoted 3 times. So, my only advice to you is try not to get too deep into the boozeing and cigarette smoking that alot of them do to pass time. You won't experience this in boot camp however, since you have no freedom. Oh, and beware of the 'No see ums'. You might know what I mean now, but if you don't you'll find out :)

Hollywood 08-26-2002 12:30 PM

I also think it's funny how everyone complains about 9th grade like it's hard. Wait until you get into College. I had to work my ass off to get my average up to a 3.56. If I was more prepared, I would have gotten off to a good start...but I got a C in Psych. and a D in Technical Writing, because I decided to put things off. Don't get the impression that you will be prepared to handle the work-load, because you'll be in for a rude awakening. Especially if you work as well as go to school full time. Thankfully, I got my act together and made the Dean's list the next three semesters in a row. I still have like 2 and a half years left though, man College sucks.

Sniped 08-26-2002 01:28 PM

My high school counselor said I should be a patent lawyer, I almost beat him down. I would have to go to engineering school for 4 years, then to law school....definately not for me.

SW-14 08-26-2002 02:15 PM

Anybody willing to help me with some theorems about limits for my AP Calculus class?

All together now: hake: hake: hake:

Calculus sucks. Didn't take it in High School, took it in College. Not a good idea.
