intrestedviewer 08-26-2002 05:15 PM

yamamoto was the guy that made the motorcycles cool: the atomic bomb was droped by the airplane "imnota gay." The v2 project was started to secretly send germans to the moon to get cheese for the 1000 year reich. swordfight:

Military History Discussion
-Where history is never forgotten-

Pfc.Green 08-26-2002 05:32 PM

So Dodd does this mean that Badscript has decided to go ahead with a military/history forum? and I think Sniped's Idea is good.

ninty 08-26-2002 05:50 PM

I personally think that there are enough people in here who are smart enough to keep the BS in here and keep the serious discussions on history to the history forum.

I think military/history forum serves its purpose well. It provides a place to not only talk about history but military issues in general. I think this way, you can be sure to please the most amount of people as possible.

Pfc. Green - I think you should move Sherman's picture away from your tank - his momma never taught him to be careful with matches - just thinking about your safety. biggrin:

Has anyone seen the movie "We Were Soldiers"? awesome flick. I usually only read books on The War Between the States and WWII. It's made me want to get a book about that battle. I want to learn more about it. Anyway, great movie.

Sherman was family? Man, I dont know how many times my great grandma has cursed sherman and his family (when she was alive). She still held a grudge for his March to the sea and the burning of Atlanta. Southern thing, I guess. I had a great something or another uncle that was a confederate colonel. His name escapes me right now. I will have to check when I get home. I have a copy of his memoirs/diary from before the war until after its conclusion. I'm rather annoyed I cant remember his name.

Now see this is the kind of discussion we would be having in the history froum.

P.S. Sherman hated what he had to do in the south, he even taught at a military school down south.

How about the snoozy forum. freak: freak:

Reparations are big in the news now. Should I come to you for reimbursement for my great great grandaddy's house that your uncle burned? biggrin:

Dagnabit! I would hate to see what he would have down if he enjoyed it! Burning a little old lady's house is not something that you "have" to do. hake: Sherman did spare the houses of a few friends that he had before the war. And I believe he was a professor at LSU when the war started.

That's awesome Pest. Nothing in my family has survived from the war. I guess it was all in that house that Pfc. Green's uncle burned. mad: I have several relatives that fought in the war. All that remains is a photograph of one in his uniform and one as an old man. In that one he is wearing an eye patch due to having the eye shot out at Shiloh.

Pest, have you ever thought of having the dairy published? It would be a great source of material for historians. They like to study dairies to confirm events surrounding battles, etc. I would think that some publisher would love to take a look at it.

pest 08-27-2002 09:52 PM

Actually, it is published. I didnt mean to overstate it. Its part of a published family history that starts in Wales, talks about a couple ancestors that fough under washington, another in the cival war and that I can track to my great grand father. I found the book and scanned it a little. Its not the full diary, but exerts from it. He was with the Tenn voluteers, but not an officer. The colonel must have been from the Revolution. I will have to ask my mother about that. It a pretty cool book to have.

intrestedviewer 08-28-2002 02:32 AM

so? what, is this thing gonna happen????

Tripper 08-28-2002 04:06 AM

Rocket 08-28-2002 04:10 PM

Ok, back to the topic:

I think any forum name that gets the point across simply would be fine.

Military History Forum

Military History Discussion

History Discussion

They all work in my mind. I would love to have this forum. Sounds really cool. And oh, by the way: I think there are plenty of intelligent people who could participate.
