TeamSpeak 2.0 Info. Updated 9/09->"Unable to resolve

9/09 "Unable to resolve IP"
Ok, If your getting this error when you try to connect use this IP to connect
216.40.244.222
Im guessing this has to do with FastAttacks setup as I had the same problem just from disconnecting and rejoining and had to use the above IP to rejoin. I have no idea why this is but its random. If anyone can shed some light on this please let me know.

This is a possible fix for choppy sounds for XP and 98 users from the TS forums:

[quote:031e2]Same story as many posts here. Sound is fine out of game. In-game it gets choppy.

Noticed a way to help alleviate the stuttering problems for most players. WindowsXP users have the best of luck using the WAVE from SETTINGS==>OPTIONS. Win98/ME users do much better if they are using "direct sound" instead with the process priority set to real-time.

So far we have 4 more happy players because of this. Get the connection info of you users and get the win98/me users to try this. I hope this helps you all.[/quote:031e2]
Let us know if this helps anyone.

If your having problems PLZ post system specs and most important your OS. Please be paitient and not give up after trying it once because you have a problem. Post your problems here and I'll do my best to help you. I have 5 other guys who are helping out with TechSupport too.

8/28
Very important!

In the main TS window (2.0) goto SETTINGS/OPTIONS/OTHER and look for PROCESS PRIORITY and set to REALTIME. Close TS and reconnect.
We were having problems where our sound was getting very choppy when we were in-game and were testing this now to see if its a perm fix.

Also, the password for ANY aa.com channel is "poaac".

Getting help from an Admin
If you need help and I or any other TS Admin is in a room you cant get into bind a hotkey to WHISPER to one of us by adding our names to a WHISPER KEY. Your new WHISPER key works the same as your regular push to transmit key and any of us will hear you no matter what room we are in. Simply ask for an admin to switch to your room and they'll be happy to help. Heres the list of registered Admins to date:

edit/ I just realised the admin nicks are case sensitive...

Jasper (super secse TS God Admin, duh :P)
SL83 (Planet Tribes)
FOG|Bazooka_Joe
RudeDog
Redsoccerdevil (SEAls)
[TFO]DogMeat

If you use this funtion keep your conversation short untill he switches to your room. It gets confusing if you and somebody else are both talking at once

There will be a few more later but you can add this list for now. Ive allready made it clear to the admins that they are expected to help guys out if Im not around. I am online from 4:30am EST to 5:30am EST and from 4-5pm EST to whenever, lately its been around 11pm helping ppl out :-)

Ok guys. You need TeamSpeak 2.0 to connect to the aa.com TS server.
If you click my sig you can grab it from me or the official website here [url:031e2]http://www.teamspeak.org/[/url:031e2] or you can try the direct approach [url:031e2]http://www.teamspeak.org/download.php?op=getit&lid=13[/url:031e2].

Same as before,

server=fastattack.org

To set my server as a favorite choose "Connect" and RIGHT click to add server. Then enter fastattack.org in the SERVER ADDRESS window.

Each groups channel, aa.com, planet tribes and =DOA= will be passworded.

aa.com channel password will be "poaac"

If you try to connect and get an error it means the server or TS is having problems. Just try again later. TS 2.0 is still "beta" so expect a few bugs here and there.

=[DOA]=VonMeyer 08-26-2002 08:15 PM

So whats different about it?

Snowhawk 08-26-2002 11:16 PM

password chans and subchannels from what I remember

Jasper 08-27-2002 03:06 AM

Lots of new stuff from what I can see.

Try it and see.

Jasper 08-27-2002 03:15 AM

It appears the server is down or we have a slight problem.

Sent the host a mssg, hopefully by this afternoon it will be up.

From the TS web page;
Improvements:

Support for lower latency. (Theoretically as low as 50 ms)
Support for better quality codecs. (CELP and GSM)
Support for user based logins.
Support for per channel passwords
Support for temporary channels
Support for sub channels
Support for moderated channels for conferencing.
Linux client
TeamSpeak uses fewer threads on a server now. Helps to conserve resources.
TeamSpeak Super Server design. One program can start several TS servers.
Web based management interface to the server.
TeamSpeak Client/Server SDK's, for including in your games/applications.

warmonger 08-27-2002 01:05 PM

what exactlyis it? anything like roger wilco or game commander?

lysis 08-27-2002 01:21 PM

i tested it out a little today, so it was up for me...

yes it is like roger wilco...

for me i guess the main factors are how long the delay is and how clear the speech is, and these things shouldn't change that much just because you use wilco or teamspeak i don't think...

but teamspeak does seem rather slick right now i am liking it so far...

Coleman 08-27-2002 01:39 PM

yeah, i tested it out earlier today (after feeling stupid since i typed in fasttrack.org instead of fastattack.org, don't ask) Anyway, i got in and I can't really say that there is a HUGE difference of the quality of voices yet since i was in there with about 2 people. I like the passwords now though and how you can alt + bind stuff since i'm running out of keys on my keyboard.

Bazooka_Joe 08-27-2002 03:09 PM

Ooooo. ..Linux client. . .*drool* heh

Well this is good. I'll get it when I get home tonight.

Snowhawk 08-27-2002 04:44 PM

how do I setup a basic bind, I want to press ctrl and say something to the chan i am in, not a specific chan, I liked how it was in 1.5

M@D CHILD 08-27-2002 04:49 PM

If i use Teamspeak 2.0 does everyoneelse that i connect to have to have it aswell?

If I understand you right you just set a generic key to "push to transmit". That will work only in the channel/room you are in.

Jasper 08-27-2002 06:37 PM

Not sure I follow you. I dont think TS 1.5 users can connect to TS 2 servers and vice versa. Could be wrong, Im still flying blind here :P

Data 08-27-2002 07:57 PM

Jasper help me I am stupid. You're not stupid buddy. The Linux TeamSpeak Server has a few bugs in it. The server crashed earlier tonight but its up now.

To connect:

In the Connect window (not Quick Connect) RIGHT click to Add Server and enter the server info fastattack.org.

That should let you connect. The pass is still "amber" but Im not sure if thats needed.

Theres about 10 of us on now if you want to try it again.

Be sure to enter your MOH nick so we know who you are :P

Bazooka_Joe 08-28-2002 08:23 AM

If you have a 2.0 server client, 1.5 users will not be able to join the 2.0 server.

Also, Jasper. Did the svr go down/crash last night? When you told me to try to reconnect, I couldn't. Gave me no response.

Data 08-28-2002 02:48 PM

Is it down right now because I cant find it on list but =[DOA]=Hitler told me he is on it right now?

Jasper 08-28-2002 03:12 PM

Yes the server crashed earlier last night. There is a bug in the Linux release that if you do the right things you will crash the server. FastAttack is going to set me up so I can remote reboot the server.

Its up now.

And Lab Rat use connect and RIGHT click to add server. Then simply add fastattack.org to connect to the main lobby and password poaac to connect to the aa.com room.

Data 08-28-2002 03:43 PM

I did that Jasper and This is what I typed in and I got

Jasper 08-28-2002 04:57 PM

Lol. Mebbe you are just stupid after all :)
j/k buddy.

Hmmmm.....thats a toughie....hey! do you think it MIGHT work if you entered the server ADDRESS instead of just the label?

Lol, TS needs the SERVER IP in order to connect.

Right under label type in fastattack.org and you will be set!

You can allso change the label to read anything you want...like for ex. "Jasper's super 1337 TS server!"

Now, get the hell in HERE U FAG!

Jasper 08-28-2002 06:50 PM

*shameless bump*

Keep checking my first post for updates and stuff.

SW-14 08-28-2002 07:37 PM

Well, I set up TS2, was talking to people in the server, and it crashed 2 times in a row. Is this a known bug with it?

Jasper 08-28-2002 08:04 PM

No, sorry man. I'll scour the TS forums tommorow and see if its a common problem.

Dont give up though. We are more than willing to help out guys who need help.

If it helps add me to your ICQ list 39197033 or wait till tommorow afternoon when I get home and I'll try and see what your problem is.

So far you're the only one who has brought this to my attention.

SW-14 08-28-2002 08:54 PM

Well, maybe it wasn't team speak. When I was playing MOHAA without it on, it froze up. I restarted it and it said the problem was the video card. (which I have oc'd) I just un-overclocked it, so now I'll give TS another run.

DogMeat 08-29-2002 01:13 AM

Just set it up, very cool. I was suprised to find it recognizes the keys on my MS GameVoice, now I'll actually get some use out of the damn thing.

Jasper 08-29-2002 03:55 AM

TS

Jasper
Running Win XP pro , TS kept hanging like a frozen rope , while in game and running Qtracker in background. Had to reboot twice Installed ASE instead and reininstalled TS . See what happens ed:

Great interface.....wonderful features.....love everything about it except two things:

1) The sound quality....even on the highest setting is still not as good as old reliable Battlecom....kinda sad isn't it?

2) The sound breaks up when I play MoH

I use
- Win2K
- SB Audigy (latest drivers helped)
- P4 2.25
- GF4 - Ti4600
- 512meg of DDR RAM

Bazooka_Joe 08-29-2002 01:47 PM

Did you switch the sound to real-time, Docd? this fixes the hangs/broken sound in MOH. My sound just sucks, I need a new mic, heh

Check my first post for fixing the choppy sounds in MOH. TS has issues with the Q3 engine but they're working on it.

As far as voice quality goes I allways considered BattleCom to be superior but were going to stick with TS2.0 for now. Your mic plays a HUGE part in voice quality too. My $30 labtech headset sounds like shit but my 4 yr old $10 mic is quite passable.

Allso, the loopback test needs more than a one second delay to judge voice quality. Hopefully this will be addressed in later updates.

I set the different audio codes (determines bandwidth and voice quality) for each room. Chat rooms have the highest codec and game server rooms have the lowest or mid quality.

I'll look and see if XP is causing problems on the TS boards.
If you use ASE try and set it to "dissconnect at game launch" or something like that.

TeamSpeak uses bandwidth (even if its the lowest amount between the voice comm apps) and I think leaving ASE connected uses bw too.

For the same reason its not a good idea to leave P2P apps running in the background.

Let me know what happens. So far I havent seen any problems with XP but I dont even know what Qtracker is.

rudedog 08-29-2002 04:17 PM

Hey guys, just got back and will be downloading this, hopefully b4 this weekend.

Jasper, please send me a PM with,
exactly what you want the updated sticky to contain., I will remove the old and replace it with an updated version if you like

08-29-2002 04:19 PM

Thanks Jasper......I'll give it another try tonight with the realtime setting enabled.

Jasper 08-29-2002 05:48 PM

Hiya RD :)

Guys keep checking the top post as Im editing it as I find more info to ppl's problems.

Bazooka_Joe 08-30-2002 08:00 AM

I'm heading out to BestBuy tonight for a few things, can anyone tell me a good PC mic to pickup?

Jasper 08-30-2002 03:06 PM

Your guess is as good as mine buddy.

Like I said earlier, my $30 Labtech mic has issues but my 4 yr old $10 stand mic works just fine.

redsoccerdevil 08-30-2002 08:30 PM

Try one of those lapel mics you pin to your shirt pocket or collar, that's what im using, and it works good. Made by cyber acoustics i think oOo:
