Realism

How when I host games in medal of honour do I put realism into the game?

need to have a server side mod only from the aa.com vault. check out the files available and i recommend CKR or CPR realism btw...

DONT DO IT!

REALSM IS CRAP!

Drunken Mime 08-27-2002 12:55 PM

what exactly is realism? how does it affect your play?

Akuma 08-27-2002 01:02 PM

Realism is the best. It makes it so the weapons have more of a kick and do more damage.

It basically changes the focus of the game from "how well can you keep the gun on an opponent to hit him enough to kill him" to "how quick can you get the drop on an opponent"

In most realism mods, most weapons are one or two shot kill weapons, except of course the shotgun and rocket, which have been downgraded so much that they might as well not exist.

My favorite realsm mod is FK (or MOB clan) realism. They left the shotty and rocket alone, and upped the other weapons to be comparable. Their weapons are also equal for axis and allies, ie - smg = smg, mg=mg. rifles are the same, etc.

It makes the game faster and requires a player to be more stealthy in how he approaches a target. I still prefer base (non-realism), but realism is a must if you like new maps and it is a nice change of pace.

non-realism is more "gamer style" ie. they can show off their "skillz" (aka who can dance and shoot better)

Realism requires a whole new set of skills (thats right, not "skillz") because you must think and move like a real soldier, instead of going right up the middle. Moving like a team and flanking your opponents to get the drop on them is preferable.

ONLY from AA.COM? I mean, can't he goto PMOH, or TMT? heh I know that we have the best mods, so I guess that's why he shouldn't go elsewhere.

wintersforge 08-27-2002 03:11 PM

hey man if he posted over at one of those "other" site then who cares but he had the vantage of posting here so......kudos to him.

Been on the aa.com server so much that I can't play anything but realizm now ...... And oh yeah , Joe , will you please change your avatar. biggrin:

I like both stock and realism (CKR BTW). I like stock because I like to go into a server with 20 people and dance my way to victory, and I like to go into a realism server and think my way to victory. I'm good at both strategies. Unless everybody from =DOA=, =POAAC=, and =KaoS= flood the AA.com server, then I get owned. biggrin:

Drunken Mime 08-27-2002 04:31 PM

aha, I see. Then I've played both ways. I usually fight as if I'm in realism mode anyway. It's rare that I go heads up with someone. I love Algiers, when you spot someone from afar and sneak up behind him by using the buildings. Nothing funnier than sneaking up behind someone and capping him in the back of the head at point blank...

Snowhawk 08-27-2002 04:32 PM

ok, this has to do with mods, but I really dont feel like creating an entirely new thread, if you are gonna connect to a server and you notice realism is running, DO NOT COMPLAIN!, if you have a problem with it, instead of making some smart remark and getting yourself banned or what not, just leave, I personally have a problem with the ares5 mod, just dont complain, ask what mod is running for future reference and leave.

-=I*H*C=-Begg@r(T3) 08-27-2002 05:33 PM

well......if you are a newbie and have quick reactions, go for the realsm and get the big gun hake:

otherwise stick to NON-Realsm....when you improve u will find it as easy as realsm (looking from a new mohaa gamers point of veiw)

I think the "base" arcade style game is lame. And to me the DOA realism mod is the most fair and equal weapons mod out there.

Miscguy 08-28-2002 10:01 AM

Heres a quick question... If i install a realism mod does it change my single player to "realism"?

I can't stand the amount of recoil in that mod. I mean, I fire 3 shots with the MP40, and I'm staring straight at the sky!

To try and cut down on the amount of people complaining about the mod we use on the {MOB} servers. We put up a comparison of the most common mods.

In case anyone wants to take a peek to see what the weapon settings have been changed to.
[url:c3abc]http://www.mobclan.com/fksmod.htm[/url:c3abc]
It list the info on:
CKR
Xavier
Aries
FK <--- our mod, the info is outdated
and the original settings
When I get some time it will also list the DOA mod.

Ares 5

I have found that the Ares 5 mod is the best...should try it out.

Its pretty good reading. You can get a good insight into the weapons these mod desginers liked and didnt like. You can also tell what weapons (or mods) to stay away from. One thing I didnt like about FK's mod is how inaccurate the smgs are at range, but the mgs more than make up for it.

Some of the changes in this mod were to cut down on the over use of the MG. FK's mod made the SMG deadly close up and the rifle deadly at range. Now the MG falls somewhere in between. The MG is no longer the weapon of choice for 90% of the people playing.
